Eugene continued to try and comfort his newfound brother but nothing appeared to work. It seemed his brother resented him more than anything else[. "Please tell me what's wrong?" he said trying to understand what was troubling the painter.

"I'm wrong," he grunted around a mouthful of sand. "Everything's wrong with me. Lookit me, I'm so useless. I can't even find my family." He made an agitated whining noise before peering out at Eugene from underneath his wing, momentarily forgetting who it was he was talking to. "I never got the memo!!" Gilmour falsely sobbed, trying to pull himself up again. "Just leave me here to die!" he moaned theatrically, flopping unceremoniously onto his back and splaying his legs out in a most unrealistic manner, faking his sudden and rather untimely death. Whether he was being serious or facetious was completely out of the question.

Eugene smiled, "If you want me to call your family I can." He let out a little squeak. It was followed by a rumble and great roar from across the horizon. A large black painter could be seen approaching. His wings although were rainbow. They shimmered against the blue sky.

Gilmour jerked his head up as a deep roar echoed in the distance. "What was that?" he breathed hastily, looking around in a wary manner. He glanced up towards the sky and noticed a dark silhouette with a prismatic array of color on its sides approaching. With a startled yelp, the small painter scrambled to his paws and darted behind Eugene and stared out from behind the other hatchling, intently watching the large form of the adult dragon closing in on them. "Wh-who is that...?"

"It's my daddy," Eugene said excitedly.
Echoes landed heavily on the land, making the ground tremble a little. "Hello son," he said in a low but friendly hiss, "who is your friend?"
