Saza sat up, then used her tail to gently brush her familiar out of sleep. "Inaba, wake up. We're going to start moving again." She spoke softly to the rabbit as he slowly awoke from his snooze. The black and white hare clicked his teeth together a bit groggily, but he sat up a bit and took a few hops forward to wake himself up.
"This is our new friend, King." Saza introduced her familiar to the other Kuniku, a small smile on her face. Inaba just twitched his nose, signifying that he was neutral in opinion on King's presence, and didn't particularly care that he was there at all. "You'll have to excuse Inaba since he just woke up. He's usually very friendly." Saza explained, although Inaba's face seemed to disagree with her statement.

King paused and turned back around, remembering something he forgot. He whistled a short tune into the woods and waited for a moment with a pleasant grin on his face. Then, out of nowhere, a crow shot from between the trees and flew down to rest on King's head. King nodded towards the snowshoe rabbit. The crow hopped down from his head and skittered over to the rabbit. Once in front of it, the crow dropped a carrot in front of it. It then flew back to King and found somewhere to stand.
"This is Kela. He's my crow, although we travel 'together' we aren't with each other for most of the time. We've managed to find a way to communicate through whistled tunes. He almost always takes my opinion of others, and if he has reason not to, he tells me." King ended his monologue and then waited for Saza and Inaba to be ready to go.

'Thunk!' The sound of the carrot dropping was definitely enough to wake Inaba up. He twitched just before he inspected the food infront of him, and then quickly gobbled the whole thing up. If rabbits were capable of Mmm-ing, the dual colored hare would have made the sound! Inaba's ears perked up and he hopped forward, just beside King and Kela.
Saza laughed, "He definitely likes you, King." She said before she joined her familiar next to the other kuniku and waited for King to take the lead, since he knew better than she did where the closest village was.

King smiled back at Saza and laughed lightly, "I like to make a good first impression."
He turned back towards the nearest village and started forward. He was running through various conversation starters in his head. He didn't want to make this some awkward trek through the jungle. He preferred the more relaxed feel that conversation lent to the air.

Saza followed just behind King, Inaba at her side and keeping pace. As the group walked, she looked around and made a comment on the area without even really thinking about trying to make small talk.
"I was born on Hokkaido, so it's like I'm in a completely different world here in Honshu. Everything's so green and bright here... but it's a nice change of scenery compared to the snow." Saza said, her eyes drifting from the thick grass to the tall trees all around her.

King was glad that Saza had started talking first, it gave him something to work with.
"I'm not sure where i was born. My mother moved us around a lot and didn't have a chance to tell me before she died. So the way I look at it, I consider myself born from everywhere." King flicked his tail at a small flower hanging off a nearby tree, letting it fall towards Saza.

"I'm sorry to hear about your mother's death, but I'm sure if she could see you now she'd be very proud of what you've become." Saza spoke sincerely. "I was just a few days out of my egg when my parents left me and my brother to fend for ourselves, but my brother was stronger than me, so he was able to leave the ice caves more quickly than I could... so I guess I never really felt all that attached to my family. I haven't seen any of them since they all left."
Saza spotted the drifting blossom and carefully caught it with an extended paw. She took a gentle sniff of the pink flower and emitted a soft 'Mm' before she Saza glanced over at King, and a small blush appeared under her fur... but having no way to hold onto the little blossom, Saza gently placed it beneath its mother tree. She made a wish on it before catching back up to King and Inaba.

"It was just my mother and I, though i could have had siblings.. I'm not really sure. My mother died peacefully, it was her time and it would've been painful if she'd gone on much longer."
King bowed his head as he spoke of his mother. It was a difficult subject for him and he hadn't shared it with anyone before. Though he did leave out why his mother couldn't have gone on. A few days prior to her death, they had come across a demon, and although she killed it, she had been poisoned by it and was quickly wilting away.

Saza continued to walk behind King, but once she saw him lower his head she sped up to walk right beside him. "I don't mean to bring up any painful memories for you." She said softly, hoping that she hadn't done anything to ruin the light mood. Saza decided to try changing the subject though, just incase.
"Did you want to get anything to eat in the city? I'm a bit hungry myself, but I can wait if you'd rather try finding out about the Palace, first."

"Oh no, it's not your fault!" King began to get a little worried that he'd made her feel bad. "My mother had always taught me to lower my head when talking about your elders, it's a sign of respect. She also said speaking towards the ground, you communicate with them better and show that you still think of them often." King rushed through his explanation, in a hurry to right his wrongs.
"I don't mind stopping for something to eat, food would be good to get before we head out." He agreed with her, hoping they could move back into light conversation.

Saza mentally noted that King seemed to be very attached to his mother, and had taken her teachings to heart. She smiled to herself, finding that very sweet about him. Had she been close to her family, she probably would have done the same thing.
She merely nodded as King quickly explained his behavior, and was glad to see that no harm had been done. "Alright." In the distance, Saza could see the light of lanterns and the rooves of houses. "We must be getting closer." She said as she turned to look at King, her tail wagging a little.

"We aren't very far off, it looks like it's only a few hundred more yards to the village." King's pace quickened a little as the excitement in him began to build a bit. He had noticed Saza's tail wagging just a bit and was very glad to see that she was happy and hadn't been brought down by his old school ways.
"I'll race you to the village," King said with a sultry smile on his face. He wasn't sure yet, but he might let her win..
He darted forward just a bit, "If i win, you have to lick Kela!" he giggled as he continued to quicken his pace, making tons of noise so that he was easy to follow.

Saza's jaw opened as King sped ahead of her to the city, and issued the loser's prize. "Come on, Inaba. Let's show him how fast we are." She said with a grin before dashing off after the male kuniku, her familiar right behind her.
Truth be told, Saza's nickname with the humans was the Phantom of Hokkaido because of how fast she could run, even in the deep snow of a blizzard. It wasn't long at all before she caught up to King, and then started to pull ahead of him. "If you lose, Inaba gets to cuddle with you as much as he pleases for the rest of the day." She called to back to King, infoming him of his loser's prize.

King, sadly enough, was not known for his unimaginable speed, but for his leadership qualities and being able to think on his feet. This would take quite a bit of thinking for him to pull out ahead.
King gasped as Saza passed him, then pulling on his racing face, he amped up his speed and stayed on Saza's tail for a bit before making a slight detour. He knew that running straight would bring them to the wall set up to protect the town from the forest, and they would have to run to the east to get through the entrance. With this knowledge, he dashed off to his right just a little bit, makign a bee-line for the entrance gate.

Saza noticed that King was turning, but decided against following after him. 'I'm ahead of him, so this pace should be good for the rest of the race.' It was true that she had no idea where the location of the city's entrance was, but she figured she could make it as long as she moved quickly to find it.
"Shoot." She said as she saw the city's outer wall nearing, and not the entrance. She dug her paws into the grass to slow herself down, and then turned East in the direction she had seen King go; Inaba was able to keep pace with her and stay nearby despite her obvious height advantage and better ability to get through the underbrush.
