Abloec was listening as the older male spoke, waiting till the final question beofre he gave into the urge he had to stretch. Having a good stretch and shaking his mane out. Having thought to join the other male in the water but the pool of mud around him disuaded him from jumping in. He was clean enough, and washing in muddy water wouldn't improve his clenliness level. Looking at Feng when he was done with his stretch, feeling more awake from it and the shake. "So a princess is like a herd leader almost? Someone who is entitled to or has earnt respect and affections from those around them, because of acts of bravery or kindness?" Not sure if it was right or not, but finding it hard to imagine anyone following another blindly. But then his father had had many teachings and opinions on the subject of leadership.

Taking a deep breath ans letting it out, his ears still a little low, guilt not so easily appeased. "However I got here... There must have been a reason that seperated me from my family. Maybe I'm to grow into a man and return, all the better for the hard lessons you learn when you only have yourself ot rely on... Or maybe there is a purpose here for me and my family have no need of me there." He thought about this possibility. "These spirits you talk of, if they have a plan for me I do not know what it is. Maybe I should give myself to the sands of fate and hope that they are kind." Knowing that probably sounded very nieve, but when you were in conflict with yourself over what to do you had to let fate take a hand and give you a nudge in the right direction. But had he been nudged or was he waiting to be nudged, that was something to think on.

His ears returning to their upright position, deciding that worrying over things out of his hooves was going to do nothing to help. Thinking a change of toping was in order. "What of you Feng? You have family near by? I know you mentiond your brotherbut I would like to hear more if its not to rude of me to ask?" Some didn't like speaking of family or personal topics, he was curious but he had never been rude, the answering of the questions would be up to Feng. With that last thought Abloec waited to see what the older male had to say.

"Something like that," Feng agreed after considering Abolec's words. He was sure that in time the stallion would develop his own understanding of what a 'princess' was but Fenghuang's definition had never been in line with anyone else's. That in mind he let the subject drop no matter how much he revered his princess - that and dwelling on the subject gave him a slight pang of pain in the chest. It was guilt and he knew it, but the reason for that guilt could have been one of many at the moment. He was in a bit of a muddle and it was his own fault (as his eldest brother had pointed out).

"I'd agree with you when you mention going with the flow," he added after a few moments and pulled himself out of the water. "Works out better that way, those who try to control everything are always miserable." Giving an almighty shake, he sent droplets of water around him in a wide arc. It wasn't the most well mannered thing to do, but in the ever cooling autumn days it was best to get a lot of the water off fast and then drip dry from a merely 'damp' stage. It was for the best this way and at least he wasn't covered in mud anymore - at most, Abolec would just get wet!

Nevertheless, with all the mud off his coat the male certainly looked different. Less bedraggled and certainly not a bush, his fiery red coat and multicoloured swirls stood out like a sore thumb. Suffice to say, his camoflauge hadn't definitely been good if he had managed to dull his coat so much as to blend in with his surroundings. He cocked a half smile as his forelock fell over his eyes and snorted dismissively so that it slid down to caress his cheek instead.

"My family?" he lifted a brow and then chuckled. "Yeah I have one, absolutely massive one at that..." he nodded his head towards the mountain range to the east; as a foreigner, Feng wasn't sure if Abolec was aware that it bordered on the fesert. "They live up there, the majority of that mountain range is Islagiatt territory. If you want more information on 'em all you'll need to be very specific. Since I've got five brothers and three sisters you can only imagine how many cousins I've got!" he announced with a good natured smile.

Thinking about this and shrugging. "I suppose if I need to know then I will find out, I doubt everyone has dealings with princesses and the like. If that means a quiet life then I'm ok with that, I've never had dreams of grandeur or amazing achievements. Though I wouldn't mind a coupe of smaller adventures along the way to keep it interesting." Chuckling a little, only to dive behind a near by shrub to try to avoid the splatters of water, taking from behind the browning leaves. "Well now you are clean shall we go and do something fun? Seems like maybe you could use a little fun at the moment. And I like fun, much to my fathers chagrin, hes a somewhat serious sort."

Peeking round the tree, not actually afraid of water, but the cooling weather meant that he was going from feeling just right to cold. The summer had been pleasant compared to the searing hot he was used to. But now that the season had shifted he was starting to feel the cold, so he really had no desire to be wet and cold, especially cold, he didn't like that part in the slightest. Peering at the newly clean male, taking in the bright colours over his red tinted shades and smiling. "No matter how bright and clean you are you will always be a bush to me." Grinning at Feng as he emerges from behind the shrub.

"So mr bush, what would be your idea of something fun to do?" Smiling cheerfully, still oddly happy about seeing so many other soquili, and so many different mixes of colours. The desert was hard to live in so soquili were rarely seen, even around the water holes, so in many ways this place was like a paradise to him. Though if it got much colder it would easily become hellish.

As he described his family Abloec's eyes popped a little, such a big family was alien to him. "I suppose.... uh." Shaking his head to clear the surprise from it. "I suppose that when food and water is so plentiful supporting a large family like that is much easier..." The sheer idea of such a large family was bamboozling to him, but then he was used to small family herds, when a family grew too big they would divide, was better that way as then they all had chance of finding the scarce resources in the desert. "I wouldn't know where to begin to be specific with such a huge family." Shaking his head again really not having a clue what else to say.

"I can't say I wanted amazing achievements either, certainly didn't dream of anything grand," Feng shook his head and eventually pulled himself out of the water, when he glanced behind he wasn't at all surprised by the dirt pooling within the lake. He had been filthy and he knew it, the smell had nearly brought tears to a lot of people's eyes but now that he was clean again he had to admit he was much lighter even if all his hard work was wasted. "It just sort of...happened?" He paused for a moment as if to consider this and in a manner of speaking his interpretation of events was right. He hadn't gone out to find himself a princess, he'd just stumbled into her and then covered her in mud. No, he'd been out in search of some other form of adventure, he'd wanted to see the various parts of the world that his cousin had spoken of but instead he'd ended anchored to a mare who seemed to live in a bubble.

"When I left home all I wanted to do was see a bit of the world," his smile deepened a little as he saw Abolec's reaction to his family. Evidently Abolec came from a small one and Feng had grown accustomed to the surprised expressions on the faces of other soquili when he spoke of his own. His mother had never made a secret of wanting a big family, she'd been notorious for adopting anything that moved and had driven his father to distraction frequently but he wouldn't have changed any of his family for the world - dsyfunctional and eccentric as some might seem.

"It's safe to say that food and water isn't plentiful on the mountains," he corrected after a few moments and clucked his tongue. "Plants struggle to grow, particularly in certain seasons and water can occasionally freeze until it's a mere trickle. That being said when it's not one of the harsher seasons it's a rather pleasant place to live, the views are fantastic," he paused and rolled his shoulders to shoo away the tension in his neck. Suffice to say that holding a peculiar posture for so long in his disguise hadn't done his stance any good whatsoever. "Seems harsh to most creatures and inhabitable to some but it's the same with most places - if you know the land well you'll find a way to survive."

"It can seem overwhelming to have a family that size but when you're born into it, it's no big deal. It just means you've got a lot more friends and support until you reach out into the world," he chuckled and then sighed, his expression grew troubled. Just as the stallion was starting to lighten up and get used to him, Feng would have to go and ruin the moment. There was probably nothing the red stallion would have loved more than to kick back, relax and have some fun but he knew all too well of the wrath that lay in waiting for him if he caused unnecessary delays. Whether he liked it or not, he was going to have to cart his backside home and face the music.

"I'd love to screw about for a while," Feng admitted and shook his head. "But I'm already in a lot of trouble and have to get my backside home to take responsibility for it etc etc -" he waved a hoof a little in a circle as though he was waving a hand. "Hell if I'm not dead and manage to get myself back to the lowlands intact I'd be more than happy to show you how to have fun," he grinned a little, his eyes twinkling with anticipation. He hadn't had the opportunity to play about in a long time, anchoring himself to one spot to watch his princess had rather taken a bit of the spontaneity out of his life.

"But if you want to head in the same direction as me for a bit I could probably point out some places you should check out," he offered. "You might be busy though which is cool, just figured I'd offer while I'm here and heh, when I get back I'll show you my definition of fun if you're still up for it!" He added after a few moments. At some point he knew he would feel compelled to return to watching his princess but the wilder side of him seemed to be determined for him to wait and hold off for just a little while longer.

...He needed to let his hair down so to speak.

After he'd apologised to his mother.

Abloec couldn't help the slight grimise on his face, seeing all the mud and dirt that was pooled on the water. He cant ever remember being that dirty. Then again in the desert water is more precious so taking baths is not so common, but then less mud more dust. A whole different set of cleaning requirements, though thinking on it he didn't think he had ever been muddy. It didn't look plesant though, looking from the mud to Feng, he was pretty much decided on that mud was unplesant to be covered in. "I guess things like that arent planned. You just go about the things you want to do and sometimes they are just amazing to others." Giving a little bit of a shrug, Knowing that he had never had any plans to travel, let alone end up so far from home. "My father didn't really give me mutch option about what I would do." Havign been told from foalhood that one day he would lead the herd, small though it was. Not that he had minded, he had been happy with his family.

Shivers thinking about the mountains, they looked far too cold for his taste, then again it was getting too cold for his likeing here too. Shivering again not looking forward to it it gettign any colder, though from what he had herd others say it was going to get very cold sometime soon. "I suppose your right, though the mountains seem unfriendly to me, all cold and barren... But then I'm from a desert so I like it hot, and even though food and water is not always easy to find I know where to look. I'd probably curl up and die on the mountains." This partially true, if he could survive long enough to learn where to find food, shelter and water he would be fine. But if he didn't then yes he wouldn't last long. Though he would think that the summer was a little more friendly there than the winter, but he could only imagine.

Abloec had an understanding smile. "I can imagine, but there is always another time. Maybe when your family has yelld then loved you half to death you will find some time and come seek me out. I usually stick close to the river..." Mostly because that was the first place her rememberd from arriving her, but thne he often hoped to find someone who knew something of how he had gotten here. He would find out eventually, besides it ment that he could be found if poeople wanted to find him. Though he wasn't sure about being shown 'how' to have fun, he knew how to have fun though it might be interesting to try some different things.

Shaking his head smiling. "I'm not busy, so I can wander with you to the chopping block if you like." Doubting he was going to really come to any harm, but he could imagine how his own mother would be if he ever got ot go home. Cringing at the thought, feeling sympathetic for the other male. "Well putting off the inevitable wont help matters for you, lets wander towards your family and then maybe we will meet up again for those fun lessons." Teasing him, and it was clear on his face that he was joking, often having had his fun curbed by his father for other more important things. Stepping aside to let Feng lead the way.

"They're not for everyone," Feng agreed, hauling himself out of the lake and giving a prompt shake. The water droplets spiralled outwards but for the most part, the water seemed adamant that it would remain firmly attached to his thick coat. He resembled a drowned rat, something that was unavoidable given the length of time he had needed to soak for but in time he was sure to 'puff' back up again. From a health point of view it probably wasn't a good thing that he was drenched in such cold weather but it was unavoidable - he would sooner have a bad cold than deal with his disgruntled brother. Oh, Ambroise wasn't inclined towards violence but he had mastered the art of lecturing a poor victim to death if it was called for.

"And they can definitely be lonely," once he was comfortable he began to walk at a reasonably slow pace, flicking his gaze towards Abolec to indicate the stallion still had his full attention even if he was on his way home. "However if you live in a herd quite as extensive as my own, it is difficult to feel lost or alone," he smiled warmly at the thought of his rather large family. They all had their own distinct territories but when one were to bridge the distance between each one could say that they were just a stone throw away. Growing up he'd never considered it a lonely or boring place, it had been full of life and activity but he could appreciate that it was a daunting and forboding location for those who were not entirely aware of the individuals that did exist on the slopes. He could even appreciate the discomfort some soquili might have felt when exploring the location, particularly if they were inclined towards warmer weather.

"In fact, Islagiatt are notorious for their hospitality, if you ever feel the need to trave lthen you'd be more than welcome up there!" He grinned and continued on. He couldn't guarantee every slope's guardians would be the same, but he knew his own herd would be open to a visit provided he wasn't a threat and Feng would bet good money on Abolec being very polite and considerate towards those around him. "Although if you like the warm weather I'd definitely advise you to wait until spring or summer when the cold winds have dulled a bit - there are nice sheltered places but even they have a bit of a bite in winter," he confessed quietly. It was home to him and he loved it dearly, but he wouldn't wish it's more hostile climates on those who were unprepared for them.

"Either way, I'll definitely be back down here in due course," his impish grin returned and he released a wistful sigh. "Have things to finish up down here so I'll definitely be hooking up for you to socialise for a bit, it'll be nice to get out again," he rolled his shoulders and flicked his gaze from Abolec to the horizon. He still had a ways to go but he would eventually hit the Forest's Edge and the ground would begin to slope quite dramatically after he'd entered the land shrouded by the canopies. "Although I do have to ask, how's your fishing?"

Abloec couldn't help shivering at all this talk of the cold, but then he wasn't exactly warm at the moment either. He was used to scortching heat in the day and having warm bodies around him at night. He no longer had either, even when the sun had been at its hottest it had not compared to the desert sun that he was used to, though it had been nice, warm but cool at the same time. "I have a feeling I'm going to be far from happy if the weather keeps getting colder." Unhappy and alone was not a good mix at all, but then he had no herd, nor did he know what winter entaild here. Back home it had been a good time of year where it raind and water was more common, this meaning there was also more things to eat. Though they had still been careful about eating more than they were used to and gettign sick.

Walking along with Feng, used to walking and talking, not able to imagine such a large herd. "I've never seen a big herd, often once a herd got to a certain size back home they would split because resorces were too limited." Only having been told about it, his herd had always been small as far as he knew, but then maybe his parents had left a larger herd. Not sure what being around so many people would be like, chances are his bad luck would kick in and he would cluts out and break something or hurt someone. His expression flickering for a moment showing how much he would be unhappy about that. He could live with the bad luck as long as he was the only one that was inconvenienced or hurt.

Smiling, the idea that he would be welcome somewhere was nice. "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, though I was just thinking that being around allot of people would probably wake my bad luck up." Finding that it had been surprisingly quiet today but knowing that when he was being unlucky he was a menace to society. His ears falttening a little as thinks on this, not sure it would be safe for him to visit, afterall the last thing he wanted to do was cause trouble for good people.

Smiling at Feng, finding that grin infectious, thinking that he will be looking forward to meeting him again. Having been pondering something in the back of his mind since being asked it, though he felt totally embarassed even asking. Looking over at the other stallion as they walked along, his expression embarassed. "What is fishing?" Never having herd of it, knowing what fish are, but they had only been in certain places back home and usually the manfolk (or twoleggers as they said here) had been in those places, so they had been avoided. Though guessing it was something that Feng enjoyed as he was asking.

When it came to bad luck, Islagiatt had suffered it's fair share. However the members had always been philosophical about the events that had occurred, what they had broken or what they had lost. It was a distressing time for the individuals involved of course, but an individual who didn't suffer from bad luck was peculiar and to be regarded with suspicion. Yei Umeko (his mother) had always been firm in her belief of karma, she had her good days, her bad days, her so-so days and if she were to be a bad mare then she would suffer more bad days than good. It was a belief that she had raised all her children on and each adopted it in their own unique way, in the case of Feng, he tended to be fairly similar to his mother.

"Pfft, bad luck happens to everyone, wouldn't be mortal if it didn't," he shrugged loosely. He didn't mean to be dismissive of Abolec's poor luck, but clumsiness was something he saw regularly. After all, two of his nieces were horrendously clumsy and there were other melancholy sorts who seemed to wander around with a permanent rain bloud above their heads. He wouldn't claim he had 'seen it all' but he certainly wasn't naive and held little fear for the bad luck that obviously troubled Abolec. "You never know, a change of scenary and a chill new landscape may bring you better luck than the desert!" Ever the optimist, he flashed one of his mischevous grins and pottered on.

"However if your luck is that bad, it totally means I'll be beating you at fishing," he tossed Abolec a sly smile, took a breath and lapsed into silence as he mused over the best way to explain what fishing was. It was a local sport in his herd, started by his mother when she was a young mare. She'd been eccentric then and her games were baffling but some of them had caught on, one of the more popular was 'fishing'. "Fishing is where you catch a fish with your forelegs, rear up and throw it skyward. Higher you get it, the better - highest wings. Although you gotta be careful they don't land on the ground as it hurts them a little and then you gotta get them back into the water ultra quick..." he shook his head and grimaced, though not for the reason Abolec probably would have anticipated.

"...And let me tell you, fish really isn't that nice a taste," he finished.

Shuddering as Feng mentions a chill landscape, starting to actually worry about the coming cold. He had never been anywhere that got cold before, but then again there must be a way to get by, otherwise there would be far fewer soquili. Looking over at Feng again as they walk, pondering. "Ummm... Does it get really cold here in the winter?" Deciding this was a better question to start with, after all it might not get too cold, and if that was the case then he didn't need to worry too much about where he was going to find food and water. Thinking on this a little bit... He could survive in the hot desert where both were scarce, but he had no idea how to manage in the cold.

Nodding as his thoughts come back to the conversation. His luck had always been bad, if it wasn't making him klutz out it was something else like going to get water, only to find the bucket he had leaked. He knew those moments had made his father despair, though he tried he always managed to come out on the wrong side of things. It didn't stop him trying though, and as far as he was concerned as long as no one but him was harmed by his bad luck then there was nothing to worry about. Though there were times he wished that something would go right for him sometimes, just once for something good to happen without the comedy klutz out at the end. But he was who he was and there was no changing that, besides other than the fact he was a mini disaster area he thought he was an ok guy.

Giving the stallion a disgruntled look, just about resisting poking his tongue out. "No need to rub it in... But your probably right.." Laughing, thinking to himself that the odds were more likely he would catch the fish, try to toss it and end up falling over and being washed down the river. Pulling a face Feng's last comment stopping his chuckle. "Why would you want to eat a fish?" The idea of the game seemed simple enough in theory, but then many things were simpler in theory. Either way it sounded like something to do that would be fun. "Sounds like it would be a fun afternoon, though first we need to get you home." His expression a little sympathetic, able to imagine how his family might be if he showed up today after being gone for weeks... Yeah he didn't envy Feng that part.

Did it get cold down here? Feng had to think about this for a while, he was fairly certain his definition of 'cold' and Abloec's definition were very different. To him, the lowlands was incredibly mild even in the dead of winter but it may prove to be horrendously uncomfortable for Abloec. He opted to take the middle ground and explain it as soundly as he could. "It gets chilly," he said at last and nodded towards the mountains. "Some lowland soquili hate it here in winter, but the mountains are even colder and much more dangerous. To me, everything down here seems mild, but I'd say to a desert soquili like yourself it might get a bit cold for your tastes," he explained. That seemed like a sound enough explanation to him.

"That being said, if you're here all through autumn your winter coat should start to come through and it won't feel quite as bad," he gave Abloec the once over and smield wrily. "It seems your sudden appearance in these lands was ill timed and prepared, your coat isn't geared towards our climates just yet," he finished. "Hell, no wonder you're cold, I'd probably be freezing my tail off in a coat as thin as yours."

"Your best bet is to wait it out in the forests at this time of year if you're cold, the trees block out the worst of the winds so it's warmer in there - if that helps you any," he offered, mild mannered as always.

Alas the subject changed and Feng followed it with ease, his responses as smooth and effortless as they usually were (when he wasn't around Anelisse). "I didn't want to eat a fish," he chuckled and rolled his shoulders. "It fell out of the water and my mother instructed me to put it back where it belonged," he gave a mild shudder. "Fishing lessons you see, but I did pick it up and drop it back in," he grinned boyishly at the memory, he'd been horrified at the sight of the flopping fish... in hindsight it was now rather funny.

"But yeah," he sighed wearily and turned his gaze back to the slopes. "Home first, family reunion second and then I'll take it from there. We'll definitely pick up the fishing thing whenever I've been released from familial duties," he chuckled softly. It wasn't that he was worried that he wouldn't be accepted back home, but he didn't really care for the lectures. On the contrary, he was more worried about what would happen without him down here.

"Although for that fishing thing to happen you are gonna have to take care of yourself, find a warm place and whatnot until you get used to the cold, you know?"

Shivering again and looking back at his coat, not able to remember it ever changing, even in the winter. "I'm not sure my pelt changes with the seasons, not even when the rains came did anything change." Looking towards the mountains they were walking towards, his step slowing, not sure he wanted to go a place that was colder, at least not yet, not untill he knew just how cold this place was going to get. Thinking over his recomendation to head into the forest for the winter, shivering a little as he thinks about it getting colder than this. Wondering about finding food in the winter, but he knew that he could usually make do when it came to finding food and water.

"I wouldn't have left my home had I had any say in the matter." Shrugging not having had the option of choosing timing or making preperations, having been happy with his home, though since finding himself here he had thought allot more about what he wanted. Now that he was lost and currently saw no way to find his way home, he was rethinking what he wanted and what he would do. Though as yet he hadn't made any decisions, but maybe he would wander a little more once the winter was over. Nodding, he was already feeling the chill of the air, so roaming far from where he knew was a bad idea, especially if the weather was going to turn worse.

His face altering and cringing as he is tols about the fishing, that sounding rather gross, a fish in the mouth, not something he would want to get into. "Yeah... I'll stay safe, and as warm as its possible to get..." Not sure what the appeal was with the fishing, but he would give it a try. Though he would probably slip and go headfirst into the water.

Stopping and looking round, turning to his companion. "I should probably go find food and shelter before it gets dark." Looking towards the mountains they had been walking towards. "Besides you will probably get home faster without my talking your ear off." Giving an easy smile, not wanting to venture into the colder mountains just yet, but also knowing that family reunions didn't need outsiders. Knowing that he wouldn't want a stranger there if he returned home after a long time, such things were special. Smiling softly. "I hope that you have a good homecoming."
PostPosted: Fri Jun 18, 2010 3:34 am

Feng chuckled softly and provided Abloec with a brief nod. "That's a polite way of saying you'd prefer not to freeze your a** off," he teased with good humour. A smile flashed up onto his equine lips and he turned around briefly to say his farewells in a polite manner. He may have disappeared for a year or so, but he had been raised with some things hammered into him. His father had been adamant that he show respect to everyone whenever it was required and now was of no exception - rush or not, he had to be proper in his goodbyes.

"I can totally agree with you on that one though, I'd probably do the same if I came from a world where icicles didn't grow on my nose in winter," he laughed a little at the memories and cleared his throat. In a manner of speaking, it would be really nice to find his way home again, there would be elements he wouldn't enjoy but others that he would treasure completely. When it really came down to it, he loved his family and missed them a great deal.

"You stay safe, you hear?" he knew he'd already said it before but he felt the need to reiterate it. "I'd say favour the humans if you get really cold, but I don't know many who like their attention that much so just do what you can," he paused and gave his mane a little toss to get it out of his eyes. In all honesty he sincerely hoped the strange foreigner found his place in the Kawani Province, or at the very best, found a way to return home. It was a horrible feeling to be out of place and to find little comfort in your current living conditions.

"No kalona, no skinwalker...all that kinda stuff, you got a head on your shoulders so I reckon you'll be fine," he grinned reassuringly and gave a mild wave of his hoof. "I'll see you next time I'm down, we'll go fishing and catch up. I'll even introduce you to all the secret spots for the best meals ever," with a wink he finished his farewell and turned round again, gathering up his strength has he leapt into a jaunty trot up the slopes.
