Morana cocked an eyebrow at the colt. His parents didn't have wings? How odd. She flicked her tail as she thought about how this foal could possibly be a full kalona if his parents didn't have wings and his mother didn't teach him to eat meat. The young mare hadn't seen much, but still knew that at least one parent must have wings in order for their foal to have wings. Maybe he was picked up by some other female when his true parents left him behind. That would explain quite a bit.
"Right... your wings. He must not be used to your wings," Morana said simply as she dug at the ground with one of her cloven hooves. The voice was coming back quietly. 'Kill him! He trusts you now.' Of course, the unicorn blood that ran through her body wouldn't let her kill an innocent foal.

"Mom says she's a....Cerynei. Not sure what that means, she's got one of those fuzzy short tails though. Flicks it kinda' like this.."
Saint twitched his tail in the motion he'd witnessed his mother's stub of a tail do quite a few times. She hadn't taught him the gesture, it was more of a learned behavior by sight. Blue eyes examining the trees around him, the colt's ears perked up instantly, there was someone around them. Hoping it was his mother saint took to wandering his eyes back and forth, combing for a sighting, something that wouldn't give him the flight or fight feeling that generally overtook all animals when fear was present.
"Does every mother or father have to have wings to have their children get them?"
He posed the question to Morana on account she was older, and had obviously seen more than he had. He wondered if she had parents without wings, maybe she too had this, one more thing in common.

His mother was a deer? She flicked her spaded tail as she thought about a kalona foal being raised by a deer. Something he should be feasting on was now raising him. Now she understood why exactly the colt acted not quite like a kalona foal would. Her head lifted slightly and she caught the scent of another. Morana let out a low growl to warn the other not to bother the two of them. This foal would not be an easy target while she was around.
"Hm... I guess not. My father had wings, but my mother didn't," the mare said simply. Maybe foals could get the wings passed down from their grandparents. Morana's tail lashed as she tried to ignore the voice in the back of her head.

"Well I like your wings that your dad g-gave you."
So he didn't quite understand entirely yet about how these things worked, but he was learning, just as all colts did. Smiling politely he noticed that some of his hair stood up along his spine as she growled. Was he able to do that too? Mom didn't make those noises, but it couldn't be that hard. Wrinkling up his snout Saint tried to mimic Morana's growl. No where near as strong or scary, it came out more like a hiss than anything else. He beemed none the less, close enough for him.
"Mom should be coming home soon..."
He mentioned, wondering if his new friend would stick around to meet her, or if she's rather not. Mom didn't seem very social, in fact, she ran more often than anything else. But maybe mom could use a friend like Morana, Saint didn't seem to be bothered by their obvious differences, his young mind just hadn't grasped it. How different everyone in the world was, how anger was possible.

Morana nodded at the colt as if to agree about her wings. Her father had 'given' her theses wings and also gave her the rips that came with them. He didn't treat her that well when she was a young filly and she hoped to never treat her foals in such a way. She looked down at the colt when she heard the sound come from him. Was that supposed to be a growl? His muzzle was wrinkled like hers did when she growled, so she assumed it to be a growl. It was good, for him being so young.
His deer mother would be home soon? Morana tried to decide if she would stick around or not. The voice spoke a little louder this time to her. 'Yes, stay! Then you can feast on the weak mother and take the colt as a dessert.' One of her ears twitched as if to flick the annoying voice out of her head. No, she wouldn't stay. Simply to keep this foal and his mother safe. Maybe his mother was the noise that she... they had growled at. "I should be leaving then. I don't believe your mother would like to see you with a stranger." This foal intrigued her and would be visited by her a few more times.

The white colt cocked his head at her comment, Morana wasn't a stranger, he knew her name. Shaking the thought out he stopped for a moment, Saint knew Morana was correct, his mother would most likely freak out. Not only was she protective, she was easily spooked and if not induced just right she would most likely grab her colt and bolt. He didn't want his new company to leave, Morana was nice and seemed to know a lot, but all the same he knew she was right.
Nodding Saint smiled kindly, walking up to the mare he didn't hesitate and nudged her gently with his muzzle against her muscular shoulder.
"We'll see each other some other time then? Mom would probably freak, she gets spooked easy."
His crystal blue eyes twinkled, hoping they would all be able to hang out eventually. Once he told mom about his new friend, he was sure she'd be open to meeting her. Swatting his spade tail contently he heard the noise again and turned his head to look in it's direction.
"I ought to get going too, before mom gets here...bye bye Morana."
Saint bounced a bit, and turned tail, quick to run towards the noise. His white rump and tail quickly disappeared into the bushes. They rattled until the faint breeze was the only thing moving them. He would see her again he was sure, but for now he would tell his mother of his new found friend...and of everything.

This meeting was ending at the perfect time. The voice in her head slowly grew louder. Get him before he leaves! It yelled so loud that she flinched slightly. Her ear twitched as she tried to ignore it, but it was growing harder to ignore. She used her tail to hit her side and try to get herself to ignore the voice.
"Yes, we will see each other in the near future." Morana said softly before gently nuzzling the colt as he nudged her shoulder. She made sure not to accidentally hurt him with the horn on her head. He was sweet, but maybe a little too sweet. Wouldn't his kalona nature kick in whenever he finally smelled the scent of blood? He would probably be as confused as she was when she was younger.
"Good bye Augustine." The unikalona mare said as she watched the colt disappear into the bushes. Her unicorn side was growing weak, but still fighting back the kalona side for the moment being. She walked over to a nearby tree and laid down, panting softly. As the bushes stopped moving, Morana let out a low growl. "You let him get away! A perfectly good meal. Gone!" Her ears flattened against her head and she looked around for something to kill.
