"Oh? I suppose that depends on your point of view. The sky is so much more beautiful at night. It's cooler though. I've always been envious of those couples who snuggle up next to each other through the cold nights," she sighed as if she found that to be terribly romantic.

He'd never really thought about that, to be honest. "I suppose so..." he mumbled, looking over the river. Someone to snuggle up to sounded troublesome to him.
(( SURE SHE'S NOT. ))

She bent her neck to get a drink. He was right, the water was cool and clean. When she brought her head back up she was still smiling, "This stream, does it pool near here?"

Did she ever stop smiling? It was unsettling to the grumpy angeni. She was of his own kind though, and he remembered his manners.
"I have no idea. I've never followed it. It very well could, I suppose."

"Could we? I would just love a nice swim," she said, still with that relentless smile.

A swim did sound kind of nice. It had been so humid that day, and so warm. He hated getting his wings wet though, and since the sun had gone down, they would take forever to dry...
It couldn't hurt to follow the river with her though. "... I suppose. Which direction?"

"Hmm..." she mumbled, looking along the stream both ways. "Downwards. It's too late for an uphill climb."
She started walking, glancing back at Auster as she did so. "I assume you're from around here?"

He nodded as he followed her. It made much more sense to go downhill anyway. A pool wouldn't be at the top of a hill. ""Yes, I am," he said. "I don't think you are, however? I've never see you here before." And with stars and a colouration like hers, plus the simple fact she was an angeni, he was sure he would have.

"Oh, I'm not surprised," she walked with a slight bounce in her step. "I have an incurable wanderlust. It's almost painful to stay in one place too long."

Well, she was quite the opposite of him, wasn't she? He rarely ever left his--well, what he considered his, anyway--area. Who knew what sort he'd run into out there, he found odd enough people right here anyway.
"You wander off on your own often?" It didn't seem very ladylike to him. "Some places are dangerous, you know. I could very well be dangerous."

Her laughter filled the air. Him, concerned for a wanderer such as herself? It almost reminded her of something her father had said about dangerous young men. She doubted the dark stranger meant it the same way, "Well are you dangerous, good sir?"

"Well... No." He was easily annoyed, sometimes insulting and threatening, but deep down, he really wasn't dangerous.
"But that isn't the point."

"What would the point be then? You don't think I could hold my own?" her voice was ever playful.

He gave her an incredulous look. "Well.. To be honest, no. I can't say that you would stand much of a chance against a skinwalker or a kalona, miss."

"Do you always assume so much about someone you just met?" for the first time that night her tone was somewhat serious. "By my lack of injuries you can assume one of two things. Either I've never encountered any kalona or skinwalkers, or I've fared pretty well for myself when I have."
