As she trekked down the beach, running little late becuase she'd stupidly switched into her new awkward to walk in sandals way too soon, Tezza looked up as the first firework went off. Ok so now she was apparently really late. With a frustrated growl the braided girl kicked the offending shoes off and make a note to come back for them later.. maybe. Giving a loud recently learned curse the tiny winged child began running towards the source of the loud green explosion.
" Hang on Mac" She cautioned the strange purple and white chameleon like creature that was currently riding on her backpack. The mac'baht was getting a bit shaken up as the girl's little legs motored her forward but not nearly as much as they several cans of pop actually in her backpack were. Tezza hoped no one was really thirsty just yet.
Thankfully she spotted the gathering of other kids a moment later and waved at them. She didn't really recognize anyone but that wasn't really a problem for Tezza.

Orli tore into the package of sparklers and set about handing them out. "Hold them by the end," she explained, "And don't get them too close to your face." This party would not be so cool if someone got hurt. She clicked the lighter and began lighting them - it was a bit tricky. "Just stick them in the sand when you're done and don't step on 'em. The ends get really hot."
"Sorta," answered Fish. "I don't think he's dangerous, though. Just kinda misunderstood." He held his sparkler out for Orli to light.
Orli finished lighting the sparklers and now spotted a new girl heading towards them. She wasn't sure she knew anyone of the description, but she was about her height and had the same braided hairstyle so she had to be okay.
"Hi!" she called. "You get one of our notes? What's your name?"

Tezza nodded and smiled thinking the lighted sparklers were pretty damn cool, and nothing her mother would approve of her holding. It was a good thing she didn't know the purple haired girl was here then. " I'm Tezza." she motioned to the strange creature on her backpack" That's Mac and I brought pop, though it's pretty shook up right now." Would probably go off like a firecracker itself if anyone tried to open a can about then.
The girl's inky black eyes surveyed the group and she confirmed a bit sadly that she didn't have a clue who any of these people were. It would have been nice to see the tree girl Otessa here or at least funny to watch her eat her own leaves again. Still, the group certainly looked interesting enough.

"I'm Orli," said the glowing girl triumphantly, and leaned down to pick up the box of sparklers. She reached in and drew one out, and offered it to the other girl. "Want one?"
By now, Fish's own sparkler had run down and was smoking evilly. He decided to lead by example and stuck it into the sand like Orli had instructed. "What should we light next?" he asked.

" Sure" A jolt of excitement raced through the girl as she reached out to make the sparkler. Sure living at the CDL was fun but she was always too young to do anything even remotely dangerous or that involved any form of sparking or fire. Despite the fact no one had been hurt so far Tezza tucked her blue and purple, ribbon bound wings to her back just to make sure no feathers caught on fire. " Orli's a neat name, is it short for something?" For some reason the girl thought it was but couldn't be sure.

Zemel shrugged. "It was Ginger's idea to sneak out, not mine. I just got dragged along." he explained. He looked at his sparkler, watching it with amazement. Obviously the tell-tale signs of someone who'd never been around fireworks before. A small frown spread across his face as it fizzled out prematurely, disappointed. He stuck the remains of his sparkler into the sand, following Fish's example.
Ginger offered Josh a some what apologetic smile before her attention was diverted by the small shower of sparks that the small firework produced. A delighted laugh accompanied the Cheshire Cat-like grin that spread across her face. These were TOTALLY wicked! It almost looked like a magic wand...though she doubted that waving it around would be a good idea.

Miles waved the sparkler around slowly in sheer giddiness, before catching himself and holding it carefully. "Yeah, you don't really seem the type to sneak out." He gave his friend a grin. "But really, Zem. You shouldn't let her boss you around all the time. You should be the boss of yourself." He gave a nod, before turning his attention to his sparkler. It was starting to get close to his hand, and in surprise, he dropped it and jumped back.
As Josh watched his sparkler, he grinned. 'This is something Sammi'd like', he thought. His infant sister might have been too young to be around fireworks--without close adult supervision, but the darkskinned boy had a feeling she knew more about 'fire works' than anyone his age.

Vox looked Fish up and down as he spoke, the smell of a certain reed reaching is nose and making the corner of his mouth twitch with either irritation or pleasure, though when he was offered something by the strange girl that had been with Fish he shook his head and raised his hand to refuse.
"I'm not allowed to have anything that could potentially cause harm to others or myself."
His voice was still monotone though a somewhat thin smirk spread on his lips, one that faded quickly with the reactions of the boy with the dark tan skin. He was being feared already, this wasn't going to be a 'friendmaking time' as he had thought perhaps to try, but then again it was just a reaction. And Fish had backed him up, oddly enough.
So perhaps he should try to join in, now that he'd seen the other children doing things with their sparklers of enjoyment.
" . . . You know, perhaps I will try. As long as no one gets burned, correct?"

"Nope, not short for anything," said Orli as she lit Vox's sparkler. "The ends get really hot when they go out," she told him, not remembering if he'd been there for the lesson or not. "Stick it in the sand hot-end down, and don't get it close to anyone's face."
She scrunched up her nose and said, "Or else you'll put an eye out." From her tone, it was pretty clear she was mimicking an authority figure.
Fish dug into the bag and pulled out a tube of shells. He nudged Crowley to come with him.
"I picked this one out," he said to his friend. "Let's go light it."
"Tezza, huh?" Orli asked the oriental girl with the braids. "I don't think I know you, but it's cool that you're here! I'm digging the hair."

Crowley had sat down on the sand with his apple and was watching the antics to the teabot as it tried to catch the attention of everyone holding a sparkler; he had stuck his in the sand after (in the spirit of exploration of course) trying to touch the end. Yes, he confirmed, it really was hot, so he didn't go any closer and thus avoided getting burned.
"Sure," he said to Fish with a grin. He'd decided that, hey, if Fish could vouch for the crazy dangerous kid, then he could ignore him. Which didn't mean that Crowley wouldn't try to kick his a** later in life if the weirdo tried anything, just that if he tried anything tonight the teabot could take care of it.
(^_^, said the teabot desolately.)
Standing, he muddled his way towards Fish.

"Thanks, yours too" Tezza grinned, she had no clue who this Orli girl was either but she seemed nice enough. " It stays out of my way better when I'm climbing and stuff." That of course was even more important than how it looked as far as the cabbage born child was concerned.
Mac made a small noise from on top of the girls backpack but remained motionless. The mac'baht mostly keeping it's ever moving chameleon like eyes on anyone with a lit sparkler.

Zemel frowned slightly at his pumpkin-haired friend. "I do not let her boss me around." he said, his tone defensive. She didn't boss him around! She just voiced her opinions on what they should do, and voiced them loudly. That wasn't bossing around; no, course not. It was just, well, Ginger being Ginger. Nothing new. He blinked, attention diverted from his personal thoughts as the other boy jumped back, dropping his sparkler. "You okay?" he asked, not sure if Miles had gotten burned or not.
Ginger continued smiling, as if nothing could sour her mood. Even when her sparkler died out, she didn't seem to heartbroken over it. Sparklers were only temporary, right? Right; nothing to get sad over. She stuck the stick into the sand, standing back up with a stretch.

Miles looked at his friend, and smiled. "Just got too hot, it surprised me." He admitted. It was hard for the Oracle to admit he was surprised by anything--the only thing he remained ignorant about was his own future. It was one of those old 'when demigods needed oracles' rules, the Greeks had decided that no one should know their own future. (Despite trying to destroy the human race by trying to get Pandora to release the spirit of Foreboding into the world, leaving men to die in dispair.)
"But really. She's always telling you what to do, where to go, how to do things." Miles said. "That's called being bossy. You shouldn't let her do that, Zem. You're your own person. You're my best friend. I don't like her treating you like you're some kind of robot." He said, before muttering something about "Even if she's pretty..."
By now, Josh too had stuck his sparkler into the sand. He stood up, and looked up at the sky. It wasn't quite dark enough for big fireworks, in his opinion. Though, he had never done fireworks. Just seen them on tv, had them described by his parents. He looked to Ginger. "You want to sit with me, on the shore?" He asked, with a shrug. He obviously had no idea that he was being...well, he sounded somewhat boyfriendy.

"Miles, come with us!" called Fish happily as he led Crowley away from the group. He turned his attention back to his blood brother. "This firework is awesome. The package says it explodes a bunch of different times. Sparklers are baby stuff compared to this."
"Climbing, huh?" asked Orli. "Never thought of trying that."
She frowned at Vox's sparkler, which was on its last legs, and offered him another one.
"She is totally your girlfriend," she called to Josh, having overheard him invite Ginger to go sit. "Josh and Ginger sitting in a tree!"
She did not sing the rest. She did not think she needed to, and besides. She was above that kind of blatant silliness and immaturity.

Tezza laughed at Orli's antics just a little, most of the kids who lived near her and were her age were boys except for Zoe so there was rarely very little teasing along that line from them. " I think we can drink the pop now" she noted
The recently grown child watched the rest of the group as she spoke, they were all so very different and yet interesting. Although the girl had to secretly admit she was looking forward to more fireworks as much as she was getting to talk to anyone else. As it was getting to meet the other braided girl even if she was a non climber was something of a treat.
