That's very strange, ForbidenNightmare. I've always heard that you yourself should buy your first deck, so that you can find one that you connect with more. Somebody else buying it for you is like somebody ordering you your meal, without knowing what you'd like.

That makes a lot more sense then what I was told years ago. I just wanted to make sure before I go and buy my deck, I've looked a few and have found one that I like. Thank you for replying I can buy my deck in peace. If I come across or remember the reasons they gave me I'll be sure to let you guys know.

don't get any big ideas, they're not going to happen...I think the whole idea behind that is that you're supposed to get your first deck from someone you love and respect, like a parent, or a teacher. That way, the deck itself will be just as loved and respected. Thinking on it, I reckon another reason why a deck "should" be gifted is also because knowledge and power is a gift as well... not something to be taken selfishly, but to be entrusted with. While there is certainly some truth to that, it's kind of outdated.
Anywho. If there's little chance of you being gifted with a deck, I don't think there's any real reason why you should wait around. I reckon it's less of who/where it comes from, and more of how much time and energy you yourself invest. I kept my deck under my pillow while I slept, and looked through the cards every few days, for about a year before I even attempted to read with it... I paid it my time, energy and respect upfront, and now it's my best, most accurate deck. ...you'll go to hell for what your dirty mind is thinking.

I have a silly question. Can spells be sung? sweatdrop haha. The reason I ask is that Im studying runes and I know that they can be sung. And I would hope that singing spells would make them that much more powerful. 3nodding

I don't see why not. In truth, spells can be done in any number of ways, and a lot may depend on exactly how one defines "spell" as well.

I believe that there is some kind of power in music. Is there a certain type of magic envoving music?

lCobaltl I believe that there is some kind of power in music. Is there a certain type of magic envoving music? Chanting? Many chants I use have a tune to them...they need to be sung. Maybe you could write a chant then write a song instead of a poem for your spell?

It seems that I had heard something once, but when I got around to actually trying to look it up, I couldn't ever find anything. So, I'm guessing that there really isn't anything like "music magic" (at least in neo-pagan terms), there might be some other religions/paths/cultures that use music in a magical way, but it not something that I have come across (as of yet)

as far as magic and music go, I beleive that I had read at one point in this guild that some of the sounds from musical instruments can resonate with you in certain ways. though I should not be quoted on this. But I beleive that it has something to do with chakras...but regardless of wether I am right or wrong, it wouldnt hurt to research this and possibly even experiment!
who knows what you may find...

who knows what you may find... Thats where my research keeps leading me. That music deals a lot with chakras. I think it would be beautiful so have some kind of pipe and play a series of notes and pray to the gods a little. =3

I didn't even think of that (which I should have because I knew someone who had one once). Though it's not really a form of magic, it's very awesome to listen to.

Hi, um, I remember finding a link to a website which came up with the exact dates for the sabbats according to timezone and now I can't find it. I have a feeling too2sweet posted the link. If anyone knows what I'm talking about please respond. (Have you seen it? Am I crazy for thinking it exists?)
