((O.o I just meant poke your head out. That was way more epic than I expected. Hahaha! It would have to be farther than 5 steps though. There's no way the parents would have hidden them that close to the pack. sweatdrop ))
Fire? Evadne looked startled as Pekko started leaving. She almost said they had to stay, but she was young, not stupid. If there was a fire, anyone could see their shelter would go up too quickly. Still, the way Pekko always tried to pretend he was an adult annoyed Evadne. She didn't have to listen to him! She was her own wolf (something she'd heard an older female comment to one of the younger wolves before).
Evadne stuck her nose outside to ask Pekko where they were supposed to go if those who attacked were still around, but stopped suddenly, staring off towards their pack's den. The trees looked brighter, somehow, and as Evadne stared-- Pekko moving further and further away-- she watched them start to glow orange from the light source moving towards them.
Taking up half of the entrance, Evadne just stared at the quickly strengthening glow of the fire with wide gold-green eyes. A bump from behind when one of her siblings accidentally nudged her brought her back to her senses and she yelped. Of course she was scared, she was a pup and there was a huge fire coming to eat them!
"Pekko! Wait! Vittoria!" Evade called, worried that they'd get too far away, but Pekko kept walking, probably unable to hear her. A crackling sound started getting louder and Evade hurried out of hiding, staring for a moment at where the fire would come from and then looking back at the small undergrowth shelter. "Come on, come on!"

When Vittora first spoke up Chaz gave her an encouraging smile from his position at the back of the hiding place. She had been so quiet, he had been worried about her. As scared as he was, there was still room in his mind to worry about the well-being of his siblings, and he knew that they were scared too. It was going to be hard on all of them, no matter the result of the fighting. He had a sinking feeling that nothing would ever be the same...
"Right," Chaz affirmed when Evadne looked to him. "We've gotta keep believing that someone will look for us. We can't just sit and feel sorry for ourselves. That won't help," he said, trying to make his voice sound strong. The words reflected on his worries about his siblings, and what they might be thinking. He had grown up a little in the short time they had been sitting there, triggered by the situation they found themselves in by no fault of their own.
A pop interrupted any more of this thoughts, making him jump. Loud, unnatural sound... what could it be? Then Evadne asked Pekko to see what it was. Good idea, maybe he could check it out and duck back in before being noticed. The entrance was still crowded so he continued to lay deep in the brush, listening intently through the leaves. Pekko's growling drew an eye roll from Chaz, thinking that now wasn't the time to get upset about changing what they told him. But then Pekko was gone. The orange male almost held his breath as he tried to listen to his brother's progress, when a great crack and thud shook the very ground. Suddenly being quiet wasn't on his mind anymore and he yelped in fear. What was that?
Then there was Pekko's shout. His words sent fear through Chaz like he had never felt before. The fur alone his spine stood up and he scrabbled to the entrance, bumping Evadne in the process. This seem to spur her into action and she was out of the brush, Chaz following immediately after. He could see a glow, orange like his fur, but much, much deadlier. Next he noticed the air was getting hard to breathe, each breath stinging down his windpipe and making his eyes water. Smoke was as deadly as fire if one was unlucky enough to inhale any. Terrified by the realization Chaz bolted, too panicked to think about where he was going. He passed right by Pekko and Vittoria and kept on going.

Oh drat it all to heck Indeygo thought to himself as Evadne sent Pekko out to investigate that rather horrific sound - which was probably something really really horrible.
"Oh..I knew it was something terrible!"
He whispered in a wailing tone to Chaz and Evadne who were the closest to him. Chaz however didn't seem to hear him since he promptly bolt out of their makeshift den and blew past the swiftly leaving Pekko and Vittora as though they weren't even there. It all happened so fast that Indeygo sat there in silent shock for a few moments before widening his eyes.
"Chaz!"
He hissed uselessly since his brother was clearly out of hearing range by now and skittered out of the den himself, squinting at the swiftly disappearing Pekko and Vittoria. He glanced back at his remaining sibling and sneezed, the wind had changed and smoke now swirled around them further disguising his departed siblings.
"Quick we have to find him!"
He begged Evadne who still stood fairly close by.

This must've been the most terrifying day of her life. The 'pop' had triggered their attention and Pekko had walked out of hiding to investigate. Returning a few moments later yelling about fire! FIRE! Her head snapped around to her siblings in confusement. The fear she felt made her legs glue to the ground. Panic filled her mind. What should they do?
Suddenly someone called her name. It was Pekko. His tone was hasty and loud, but still controlled. At last, her paws weren't frozen anymore. She sprinted out of the bushes past her other siblings. Now that she was out of that tiny place she could clearly see the scene around her. The woods had a large orange glow, like a cloak had been spread over it. The trees were burning and the scent of smoke filled her nostrils. Her eyes stung and it was hard to breathe. Quickly she pushed herself against her green brother, making sure she wouldn't loose him.
Something orange bolted past them. It was Chaz. "Chaz wait!" She called but he didn't response. Looking backwards at the bush she saw Evadne and Indeygo still there. At least, she thought they were still there. The smoke clouded her sight and all she could see was what looked like something purplish and blue. She squeezed her eyes together but couldn't tell anymore. Pekko was still swiftly pacing forward. It looked like he knew were his was going. "You sure this is the right path Pekko?" She coughed

((Right, well I'm going to do a slight godmod of the two girls so that we can wrap this up and leave our pups free for rp elsewhere.))
Evadne looked back into the den as her other siblings rushed out, then back at Indeygo, panic in her eyes. She nodded after a moment, trying to look less scared and more fierce. "Let's go!"
Keeping an eye on Indeygo as they ran so they wouldn't get separated, she went in the same direction her other siblings have, hearing her two sisters scrabbling in the leaves behind them. A flash above her caught her eye and she looked up as the tree above them cracked and fell. Evadne screamed and sprinted out of the way, whirling back afterwards to make sure her siblings were all right. She could see Indeygo, but her two sisters...
She screamed their names, but the crackling fire was her only answer. "Indeygo, let's go!" All of her other siblings were gone, cut off or so far away that she couldn't see them any longer. "Stay with me. With. Me!" She punctuated, rushing towards him with thick smoke clogging the air between them.

Tag tucked between his legs Indeygo shrieked along with Evadne as the tree fell, scooting out of the way and looking back with large wild eyes. His sisters..they'd been right behind him...were they okay? He took a few steps towards the crackling tree but could feel the heat singing his fur and stepped back coughing as Evadne rushed towards him through the smoke. Stay with me she demanded and Indeygo pivoted to follow - she was the only one he could see anymore and staying together seemed like a mighty fine idea.
"I will! I'm coming..we need to get out of this smoke - I can't..I can't see a thing"
He shouted up towards her, making sure to stay as close to her heels as possible as they raced as fast as their puppy legs could take them. the flames swirled about them and Indeygo dodged sideways as a whirling flaming branch fell from the treetops, quickly careening back to stay on his sisters heels once more.

If he had been calm enough to stop and think, Chaz would have realized how stupid he had been to speed away from his siblings after he thought so much that they had to stay together. Now he found himself deep in strange territory, smoke and fire following. It was catching on the dry brush and, helped along by the wind, was getting much too close for comfort. Looking frantically around for an escape, Chaz didn't see the ravine coming up ahead. With a yelp he tumbled down the steep bank into the rocks below, hitting his head with an unsettling crack. He saw stars, and when he tried to get back to his paws, he couldn't stand up. Darkness ate away at his vision and before he knew it, the pup was out cold.
(( And that's the end of Chaz's flight. xD Just assume that he is safe from fire and smoke in the low ravine, and that he wakes up with no memories whatsoever. ))

((Lol Fantastic. Thanks, Chaos. I can't wait for the reunion with Chaz! ^_^))
Evadne stopped and backpedaled several times when fire or falling bits of tree got in their way. Unfortunately, it was impossible to get away from the smoke preceding the fire, so much thicker now than the slight fog that had permeated the air around their shelter before the flames began reaching them. Trying to see through the smoke, Evade felt her feet touch dry earth and she looked down, squinting. A pop as some green wood caught fire snapped her head up so fast her neck screamed at her, and she took a few stumbling steps forward before she remembered where she was.
The river.
A long way from their pack-- how had they travelled that far?-- was a small river. Not the torrenting rapids of adventure stories, but it was water, and for a pup, deep and wide-seeming. Glancing back at the fire glowing through the smoke, Evadne moved behind her brother and began pushing him forwards. The other side would be safe, past the fire, over water. Water, even a little bit, had to stop the fire at least a little, right?
"It's the river," she said close to Indeygo's ear. "We have to get across. This way."
Taking the lead again, Evadne hopped onto some rocks, taking huge leaps and trying not to fall into the water. She could swim somewhat-- they'd begun teaching her so that when she got older she could do her share in the pack-- but alone and in deep water she didn't want to risk. It would be silly to drown running from a fire.
"They're slippery, be careful," she called back to her brother after her paws scrabbled for footing on a rock, almost sending her careening form into the water.

Indeygo took one look at the murky water - swirling with debris and ash from the fire and knew...just knew that this wasn't a good idea. i am going to get wet..or wash downstream..or devoured by some water creature the young pup thought to himself tail between his legs as he watched his sister slip and slide on the rocks as she hopped across. The young pup whined and balked on the bank until the fire licked nearly at his heels and a cracking branch overhead forced him into a decision.
"Evadne..wait!"
He called desperately to his sister who was by now part way across the river, making a giant leap he flailed with all four paws for a few seconds before regaining his balance and making the next leap, splash one hind paw slide off into the water and Indeygo shivered and scrabbled for purchase with the rest of his limbs managing to keep from sliding the rest of the way in by mere luck. I knew I was going to get wet the indigo pup thought to himself miserably - although in comparison to the rest of the night it definitely wasn't the worst of it. Leap after leap brought him across the river on Evadne's heels.

Her brother's shout brought Evadne up short on one of the larger rocks, and she looked back at him, tensed. If he fell in... Her eyes went to the fire across the river, now close enough to the shore that the trees were bathed in a wicked orange glow, just like the forest had been outside their den. She wanted to yelp in panic for Indeygo to hurry up, but she was more worried that he'd fall into the river if she tried to rush him any more.
"I'm waiting, I'm waiting," she called as she saw his paws slip worse than hers had. Even a small river like this was dangerous, especially with big chunks of branches going by, threatening to sweep something as small as Evadne off the rocks and into the river. She looked upstream at the debris, then back at Indeygo. The rocks were spacing out farther, they would have to get running starts now. When he was within a few rocks of her she turned and started hopping again, more careful to look for fire debris coming down the river at them. Thankfully, the shore wasn't too far off, and she made a last leap at a large log.
She didn't make it, but the water she fell into was just enough that her paws didn't quite touch the bottom. As her head surfaced, Evadne gasped for air and began paddling for shore as the current began trying to carry her down stream. The moment she felt the mud riverbed beneath her paws she dug in and walked forcefully to shallower water. She turned back to look for Indeygo, for a moment thinking he had fallen in while she was distracted.
"Indeygo, try for the log!" She called. "Swim if you don't make it!"

Indeygo was so focused on trying not to fall into the river that he was only half aware of his sisters blue pelt leaping from rock to rock in front of him. Now..don't panic he told himself steady...steady...leap! the running commentary in his head kept him from dashing foolishly ahead in blind panic - the early near misses had sobered the frightened pup up some and despite the fire raging behind him he knew being careful now was a little more important.
He was hunkered down eyes on the next landing spot he'd designated for himself when a splash up ahead made him jerk his head up. Evadne! his eyes darted to the bank ahead searching for her distinguishing blue pelt amoung the smoke - but no she wasn't there!
"Oh no! no no no..."
Indeygo gasped out loud fearing the worst - that she'd been swept downstream, or perhaps knocked her head on the rock while falling. This was so dangerous Indeygo thought to himself continuing that line of thinking before he could stop himself..mother is going to throw a fit.. and al lthe while his frightened eyes searched for his sister.
There!
Her bobbing head breached the surface at about the same time that Indeygo recalled that mother might not be coming back - and they'd run so far even if she did how would she ever find them? No time to think on that right now Indeygo chastised himself as Evadne pulled herself to shore and yelled at him to try for the log.
Indeygo turned to see which log she was speaking of and realized that only one stone and the spoken of log separated him from the shore. That last jump looked a little daunting - it must have been where Evadne fell in. Just as he was thinking that something scraped along one of his hind leg's yelping Indeygo tucked his tail and did exactly what he'd told himself not to do - made a wild unthought about leap in the general direction of the next stone. Eye wide he crouched where he landed - somewhat surprised that he'd landed on the rock at all. Head whipping around to see what manner of river monster had tried to snatch him. The only thing he was was a bobbing log and its assortment of trailing branches. The sight made him look upstream where the debris was mounting as a result of the fire, a fluffly looking white thing stuck in a whirling bed of branches caught his eye as it swirled past - it was a rabbit - drowned or dead from the fire. The sight made him ill and he worried over his other brothers and sister's.
The log..the log..he reminded himself a few moments later and turning his head back he judged the distance, scooting backwards on the stone until his back paws dipping nearly into the water. One two...three steps and he launched himself at the log.
"I'm not going to maaake..."
He yelled in mid air, squeezing his eyes shut and hoping furiously that he did. Whap! his front legs hit the log and he somersaulted over to the other side.
"..it"
He finished lamely when he he picked himself up, bruised but otherwise unhurt.

Evadne stared as Indeygo made a wild leap, yelping in panic, but he landed perfectly on the rock. And then stayed there.
What is he doing? Evadne thought to herself, looking upstream. If they didn't hurry he might get caught out there. There wasn't anything large enough coming to make another stepping stone for that last jump, just things large enough to bowl Indeygo off the rock. The dirtied white fur of the rabbit caught her eye as it came closer, and she watched it as well, heart dropping into her stomach as she realized what it was. A whimper escaped her, but she was distracted by Indeygo's shout. Her eyes followed him through the air, wondering if he would actually get the whole way over without falling in, and she winced at the loud whalloping noise when his legs collided with the log and flipped him over into the shallows.
"You almost made it at least," she offered, realizing when she saw the dirty in his fur that she was probably in a similar state. "You got farther than I did." She smiled, briefly forgetting the circumstances that put them in the situation to try out their jumping skills.
A loud crack drew her attention back across the river as fire bloomed in the trees just beyond the river, one of the large trees further back falling over with an ominous creak and crashing into trees around it, lodging in the branches of one of the trees by the riverside where the pups had been only minutes before. Evadne cried out, startled, as flaming pieces of tree fell into the river and she realized how narrow it actually was to the fire.
She turned and galloped onto shore, large strides kicking water up in her wake. They still had a ways to go before they were safe.
"Run!" She called, waiting on the shore for Indeygo to reach her and running only after he was by her side.
((After Jet's post that'll be it for Evadne and Indeygo in the thread, so both of them and Chaz are now officially split from their siblings. I'm going to leave this open for a bit in case anyone else wants to add to their escape, then mark it as finished if no one replies soon.))

Indeygo grinned as he glanced back at the log after joining his sister.
"I did didn't I?"
For that brief moment everything seemed alright to the young pup - it was just like he and Evadne were out playing in the woods. If only such thoughts were true he thought starting at the large crack - the sound making him duck towards the ground until Evadne's voice floated into his consciousness once more. Run she yelled and it seemed like pretty good advice to him. With one last lance at the fire blazing behind him Indeygo bolted after his sister.
