"Aahhh, a writer, eh?" Deet asked as he took another rather large bite out of his sub, already having it down to half it's original size, "I own a little book store, myself. The Cat's Eye? It's a little off the beaten path buuutt I honestly do have a book for just about every one." Deet let out another hearty laugh, taking another bite of his sandwich. "Artist always get a gold star in my book. So, how'd you get in the care of little Miranda there? Unless it's biological, in which case you get my full apology." Deet said sheepishly.
"Uhhhhhhhhhhh..." Leo was deep in thought, nomming on his veggie lovers sandwich, "Um....I guess...Noodles?" Leo said, figuring it was accurate enough. He did love pasta night!

"Yeah, nothing important," Val said modestly enough as he ate his meal though he didn't take bites nearly as big as Deet did, but he managed on his own. "Really? That's cool, I thought about running a bookstore a time or two myself but," Valeri gave a shrug as if to say the idea didn't really appeal as greatly as it probably had Deet when he had decided his 'career'. The next question made the purple haired man pause a bit and he snorted softly, "I know a lot is possible in Gaia, but I don't even think my genetics and that of my girlfriend could make someone like Miranda," he laughed a bit and shook his head, "She is not mine biologically, I got her from this D-Corp place.. Kinda thrust her upon me. Thankful for it in the end though," Val said thoughtfully and then went back to eating.
Now that the young man took a look at Leo again...Was that the same story?
"How about you?" the man asked casually between bites, it never did well to assume things.
Miranda was oblivious to the 'adult' conversation because quite frankly adults talked about boring things and besides she had Leo talk to! She listened to him curiously, "Noodle'th? Noodle'th are good'th. I love th'trawberrie'th." She mentioned offhandedly as she resumed eating. "Wha'th your favori'th game'th?"

"Heh heh, I might eat a lot but I assure you I'm 100% catman." Deet said, seemingly unaware that a catman was indeed 50% of one thing and 50% of another, "No, no, Leo also came from those...D-Corp people, yes." Deet explained, finishing off his sandwich already, "They said they were looking for people willing to adopt, and, well..." Deet shrugged, figuring it kind of explained itself, "Though I'm surprised they let single parents adopt. But then again this is Gaia. You're one of the few people I've met who isn't half-vampire-half-werewolf-half-angel with sparkles and wings." Deet chuckled. He stuck out like a sore thumb, half the time. Every one else was so...pretty, really.
"Ohhh, I like Strawberries too!" Leo said happily, "Uummm...Oh! I know! I like this one board-game I play with my daddy called...Uhhh...Shoots and Ladders!" the pig-boy explained happily, "Whats yours?" he said, nibbling on his sandwich.

"Well good thing you're one hundred percent, then," Val chuckled a bit as he ate at his food with a small nod as he listened to the catman continue to talk about Leo's origins. "Well, I don't think it matters for them that you're single or not, you need to be breathing or at least 'living' and have at least a half a working brain cell, if that." Val gave a small snort of a laugh at Deet's observation and shifted a shoulder in a shrug, "Glad to be human. Makes you more grateful for whatever happens since life is so short or whatever, I dunno. It's hard to explain since I can't imagine myself being anything else." The purple haired man said with a thoughtful sigh. Val didn't see himself as particularly pretty or ugly so he wasn't sure how he rated if at all. Obviously compared to most men about he was 'average'.
Miranda let out a happy sound of approval and then listened to Leo tell his favorite game, "Oh~! Papi and I play'th that. Th'ometime'th we also play Candyland. It i'th fun." She nommed thoughtfully on her food as she sat with her new found friend. "Wha' i'th your favorite color?" She was being inquisitive and curious about Leo.

Deet looked down at the happy little pig boy and the cheerful rat girl. "...That actually makes me depressed, to be honest with ya. Sweet little things deserve better. Ah well, at least Miranda seems in capable hands." Deet said with a smirk. Ahhh, the friendly, fluffy hands of friendship were extended at least. "Being completely human, huh? Strange how normal makes you stand out. You're the first complete human I...Think I've ever met, really." Deet shrugged, "Hey, could I perhaps have your number, since the squirts seem to like each other so much? We can arrange a real play-date, perhaps." the large man said nonchalantly.
"Candy land is fun!" the usually shy pig boy said. Oh, colors?! Wow, this girl was going to know every thing! "Uhhhhhh...Blue!" Leo said enthusiastically, "My bedroom is blue! So is my daddy's bed. I sleep there when I get scared." Leo explained wisely, "Whats your favorite color?"

Valeri gave a small shrug at Deet's observation as he finished the last of his meal and sat back a bit, "Not much to be done, really, I am sure they don't 'target' anyone harmful to the children," at least Val hoped they didn't. The purple haired man uttered a light laugh, "Thanks for the vote of confidence, I'll need it," he replied.
"Glad to be your first," Val drawled with another laugh and shrugged a bit, "sometimes being 'normal' is what makes someone special I guess." Though his train of thought was shortly pulled off track by Deet's question, he certainly was planning on asking for the catman's number for later play-dates between children also just to maintain the blooming friendship in general. So to be beaten to the punch had thrown him off a little. Finally he nodded sat up a bit and grabbed a napkin and a pen from a pocket upon his person and scrawled down a home phone number and a cell phone number and shoved the written-on napkin toward Deet, "No prank calls, now. I hear any funny breathing I'm hanging up right away," he chuckled.
Miranda nodded in enthusiastic agreement, "It i'th!" she said cheerfully and then listened for the answer to her prior question. Oh! He liked blue! Blue was a lovely color indeed but not her favorite in particular, "Ohh, good idea," she replied to his wise explanation. When she was asked for her favorite color she paused a moment and ate at the last of her meal before she said simply, "I ha'th more than one favorite. I like'th pink, red, and li...lila....light purple'th." She had forgotten how to pronounce the last color, her Papi had told it to her when she asked once but the memory of the word pronunciation was gone for now and she refused to ask for help.

Deet was happy to take the napkin from his new, skinny friend with a cane. It was nice! To be honest, Deet hadn't been social with any one in a long, long time, male or female. It was good he was doing so, and the fact his son liked his daughter was even better! Today was pretty darn good, really. "Alllrriiighhtttyyy then," Deet said happily, handing the purple-haired man a business card, "Home numbers on the back. Usually I just give this to interested girls but, alas, those have been dwindling prospects."
"Uhhhhhhh..." Leo thought for a second, remembering his book of colors his daddy bought him, "Li...Lilac!" Leo was proud of remembering such a large word! "I like that color, too! It's pretty!" Leo said cheerfully, "

Valeri took the card and looked it over and then flipped it to the back and uttered a small snort at Deet's words, "Sorry but I'm not putting on a dress to make you feel better about handing me the card," he said as he tucked it away into a pocket to program it into various phone-like devices later on when he and Miranda got home. "Thanks though, I'll be sure to call you when Miranda feels the need to drag Leo out or something like that, or I guess to arrange manly bonding time or something if you're open to that sorta thing." Val liked Deet there just seemed to be that sort of instant friendship thing forming between them. Talking to him was easy and calm and it didn't have that awkward 'so...you're a parent, me too!' thing going.
She nodded enthusiastically when Leo said the word she was trying to say, "That'th it!" she said cheerfully as she pushed her empty food platter away from herself and concentrated on the last bits of her drink. "It i'th! I like'th it a lot," she swung her legs a bit. Leo was fast on his way to being among her favorite people.
Miranda had but one more question for Leo, at least for now, "Wha'th your favorite movie?"

"Ahhhh, clever. Well, I'll make sure to call you at 3 in the morning to ask you if Moby d**k should have it's name censored." Deet said with a dry smirk, "And I'm completely for manly bonding and other very manly things. Like moving couches. However, if you call for couch moving I demand at least two beers." Deet said, wanting to mention his demand of a steak but...Alas, Leo was a vegetarian after being scared shitless by Stella. Mentioning that would be cause for nightmares and explaining how Daddy would never eat his son.
"Uhhhh...Um...Uhhhh..." Leo wasn't certain, he liked his coloring books and story books over childrens movies, "Uh...I like Cars! I like the pick up truck! He's funny!" Leo said proudly. He had the toy car of the red-neck at home! He was his favorite!

"Well here's my answer so you don't have to wait until three in the morning to ask: Yes, Moby d**k should be censored. I find the word Moby to be very offensive to all of my senses." Val replied simply and managed to keep a straight face as he said this, thus leaving little for anyone to go by as to whether or not he was serious about his comment. "I can handle that," Val said in response to the demands with a chin scratch and a nod.
"'Aven't th'een that one yet," Miranda admitted with a bit of a nod. "My favorite is Little Nemo, i'th about a little boy who goe'th to Dream Land~," the small girl seemed to favor whimsical things as far as movies and stories went but she was pretty much open to anything at all as far as movies went. Miranda gave a bit of a yawn showing that she was about ready for a nap even her eyes looked a bit drowsy.

"You haven't? It's really funny. Maybe we can watch it some time..." Leo said with a yawn himself. It was getting kind of late for the little porcine boy, and from the look of his new friend it was late for her, too! The pig boy tugged on the bottom of his father's shirt. "Daddy?"
Deet chuckled at Val's response before a tiny pink hand tugged on his shirt, looking down with a happy smile, "Ready to head home, buddy?" Deet asked his son who nodded in return.
"Well, looks like we're off. It was great meeting you two." Deet said with a smile.

"Yeh'th!" Miranda agreed though much of her enthusiasm was eaten up by a case of the sleepy. She crawled out of her chair and wandered to her Papi who had started to stand as the purple haired man had started to take clues that the visit was now over for everyone. Val felt bad that he couldn't quite carry his daughter the way that some parents could but perhaps...
Sure, his arm would be sore but it was a small price to pay. "Yep, glad to meet ya'll. I'll be sure to call you sometime to arrange playdates and man-outings and things like that," Valeri promised as he got Miranda to climb the chair and eventually got her to climb onto his back. He reached back his free arm and supported her backside and began to make his exit while Miranda mumbled sleepy 'goodbyes'. She was still heavy and would probably always be heavy, but at least it was one way to carry her.
