Shadow, upon hearing the words, raised his ears higher, sniffing this way and that. Whoever he was supposed to meet apparently didn't care about hiding her scent. Wait. He sniffed more. There were two females, and one radiated the same type of power as Vernon, except hers was weaker, or maybe it just seemed that way because of the distance.
He paused by a tree as Vernon went on ahead towards his mate, and watched the helixes and... helix-things gathered, before looking towards Vernon, the one who led him here.
"What's all this for?" he asked, looking at the female who was a bit smaller than him bow before the male.

Verity patted Eden's head before she could answer. "Silence, please" she requested of the male Vernon had brought. Before even glancing at her mate, she gave the male a complete one over. He was dashing, she noticed. Obviously a strong personality if he were to speak out at the presence of a God and Goddess... And to top it off, he wasn't even a part of the territory....
"Vernon.. Whom have you brought?" she took in helixes scent and was about sick. "...from Helki's territory?" Verity couldn't help it. Her lips pulled back and her muzzle wrinkled with anger. Her gums and teeth gleamed as a snarling, echoing sound rumbled from her muzzle. "Of course! He must be from Helki's territory! Why am I not surprised?!" Her fur bristled as her eyes narrowed. She'd had it.

Vernon was growing increasingly nervous with Verity's lack of a pleased response. He opened his mouth and was about to utter the male's name, when Verity's expression changed completely. He realized why a split second before she spoke again.
"He was wandering around our lands." Vernon said, a bit more forceful than he had intended. Even if he was a god, he still had the instincts of a normal helix, and he couldn't help but snarl back in response to Verity's growl.
He was a male, and larger than her, and had more powers as the dominant god of the territory, but even so, he couldn't help but to cringe back with guilt at the accusation. He couldn't exactly tell her it wasn't true. She was the goddess of Truth, after all.

Eden's eyes went wide and her body stiff. Was she really about to witness a fight between these two beings? She could feel Vernon's power and it was more than Verity's, but there was nothing worse than a woman's scorn... and that's exactly what it seemed the situation between these two.
Ah hell.... she thought and looked to the male with a terrified expression. What was he going to do? Flee? Stay? Who knew. Right now Eden just wanted to crawl away from this all and return home to ensure her family is safe and sound.

Shadow raised his lips in an irritated snarl but kept silent. She seemed nice enough.
...Or not. He was surprised by how quickly her expression changed. His ears flickered in recognition at Helki's name. She was an important being in the Eastern lands. A... His eyes widened and he looked at the two bipedal helixes again. Gods.
His ears flattened and he snorted in response to the rising tension between the gods. The male, although more powerful, seemed stuck between fighting and giving up. In any case, he didn't want to get caught between them, and it looked as if the black and red female had the same thoughts.
He tried to catch the female's eye and he motioned back with his head. Let's go. he tried to say without speaking, for fear of gaining the fueding gods' attention.

Verity narrowed her eyes once she sensed that Vernon was telling the truth. This male was wandering their lands but that doesn't mean he wasn't attracted to his scent in the first place, considering Helki is the same as his.. just mixed with power. Verity's stomach tangled. "Why are you so drawn to her, Vernon?! Why!"
Verity's arms flew up in the air and tears welled her eyes, spilling over from her angry shaking. "I know you've done something! Something you refuse to even bring up, because you know I will catch it!" She snarled louder and her bodies toned muscles trembled with the surge of power, anger, and pain that was swirling in her aura.

Vernon's brows furrowed and his ears flattened. His growl was turning to a strange mix of a whimper and a snarl and he was just as angry as his mate. His ears were flat, his fists balled, and his claws digging ridges in his palm. The small amount of peace he had managed to find in the life he didn't want was breaking, crumbling, right before his eyes, all because of feelings he couldn't control.
"I-" he started, but broke off, unsure of what to say. "I don't know." he cried, looking up at her with wild, desperate eyes. He was about to say something more, but stopped, surprised. Everyone was frozen.
No, not frozen. Vernon thought, staring at his trembling, bleeding paws. Their time has been slowed. He looked at them all, seemingly frozen in place. His mate, angry. Their guests, nervous, possible frightened, and unfortunate enough to witness their quarrel.
"No!" he screamed at them desperately, knowing he was going too fast for his words and actions to be heard or seen. "No!" He slammed his fists in a tree, breaking it in half, but his powers didn't go away. After a few more trees had been broken, his blood on most of them from his wounded hands, it became obvious time wouldn't go back to its normal pace.
After one more pleading look at them, he shut his eyes tight and ran for it, and when he was far enough away, time resumed once more for the three at its normal pace.

Eden was so confused. Where was Vernon? He seemed to have.. vanished. She looked around, curiously but then her eyes found the male. He was nodding for them to run but.. she couldn't. Her Goddess was still here, and had not given Eden permission to be excused. She was to loyal to Verity.
Eden sat back, shook her head and looked up to Verity with a quiet whine.

Shadow shrugged in response, wondering why she chose to stay when there was a very likely chance she could be killed. He hoped it wasn't for loyalty. There was no way she could stay loyal if she was dead.
He was about to slip out before anyone took notice when the place suddenly got quiet. He snapped his head around, surprised to see Vernon gone, with some broken trees in his place.

"VERNON YOU COWARD!" Verity nearly howled into the sky as she saw that her mate had left. He knew she was on to him and instead of being a man and admitting it, he runs. Stupid stupid males! Then it suddenly became clear to Verity. Eden didn't need a male to run her pack. She was well capable on her own.
Turning around to smile down at Eden, stroking her fur softly, Verity spoke calmly. "Young Eden.. as a blessing from this Goddess, I give you the wisdom that you are a strong woman who does not need the support of a partner to support your family. You are more than alpha material and I believe you will become a great leader in this territory.." backing away from Eden, Verity whispered, "Don't forget those words."
Before she herself disappeared from the area, her eyes locked on the male and became icy cold stones.

Vernon stopped when he was sure he was far enough away for his powers to stop affecting his mate and the two others. Even so, the area around him was still going slow and he whimpered with distress, wondering how long it would take for his powers to wear off. He never felt tired, which worried him, and he hoped it wouldn't take long.

Eden was astounded. Suddenly she felt strong emotional, physically, and mentally. She had connected with Goddess Verity some how and her heart fluttered. How.. how great. But.. her tail felt heavier. Looking down she saw a silver band entwined around it. "Goddess!" her eyes went wide. "A gift! A gift from Goddess Verity!" Eden smiled wide and looked up at the male. She didn't care what he thought. Sighing with a pleased expression, Eden nodded as a good bye and set out to find her brothers. It was time to whip this pack in to shape.

Shadow glared back at the goddess, his eyes hard. If she had a problem with him just because of where he came from, then perhaps the gods and goddesses weren't as great as they supposedly were.
Ignoring the elated female and the goddess, he turned and left through the trees. What a waste of time, he thought. But at least it took his mind off of Nani and the pups.
