Photo Three::Sky:: This is the only photo I ever gave a title to and that is "Seize the Ray's". I named it that because of the way the sun ray's look like they are seizing the clouds. the main focus of this picture is the way the ray's are cast though the clouds. My message is that the everyone has the same sky, but it's different. I did not edit this photo. I took this photo at a my high school football game.

submission #01 :: MILLIGRAM SMILE Click here to view the image full-size1) What's the main focus (what you want the people to see) :: In the most literal sense, the main focus of this picture is pills, but depicted in a very different way than one would expect. The few people I've showed this picture to in the past have originally been kind of confused as to what exactly the photo is of, as in, how it was taken. The big white rectangle with pills & bobby-pins I tore out of a page in a magazine, & it's pinned to the wall with a syringe. 2) where you took the photo :: In a house in Idaho that I used to live in. 3) what message you want to convey via the picture :: I'm not so much trying to convey a specific message as I am trying to depict certain things in a certain way that not only makes the picture interesting to look at but provokes thought in anybody who takes the time to consider it carefully. On many occassions I've refered to the generation in which we live in as the "Pill Generation". I live in America, & here at least 40 percent of the population -- probably more -- takes prescription pills, & the majority of American citizens have been diagnosed with at least one "Mental Heath disorder" through which medication is the "best treatment". Pills are so commonplace in the world & society I live in that their potency is totally overlooked: people pop pills without giving a second thought as to how its affecting the chemicals in their brain. Nothing has the power to change who you are as deeply as drugs -- both recreational & "medicinal". I feel like the "message" this image conveys is somewhat double-fold: it portrays pills in a really light-hearted, cheery manner that reflects the way the public sees them, yet the "light-hearted, cheery manner" also conveys a much more serious message through its irony & satire. 4) why did you take the picture that way :: This picture is taken at a pretty plain, normal angle because I felt like that would best show the content of the photo. The reason its taken at the angle that it is is because I wanted to make the syringe pinning it to the wall as visible as possible without compromising the visibility of the images on the magazine page, & the angle at which its taken is a great "compromise" to achieve both the aforementioned. I also really wanted the bright blue on the wall to be shown in the image because I feel like it contributes a whole lot to making the colours of the picture really interesting & makes the whole image really "pop out". 5) how did your edition of the photo contributed to the end product :: I only edited this photo in extremely basic & minimal ways. I just tweaked it a bit to make the contrast & lighting right, & to make the colours just the right degree of bright.

If I submit four photos, do they have to be different categories? I checked through the first page and I didn't see this covered, sorry if it was. I am just curious.

Okay thank you so much. Still life is all I can do and I really enjoy shooting flowers and other plants. So I just wanted to make sure I didn't break a rule.

entry number one;; 1) What's the main focus: The flower (of course xD ) and the little brown edges of it. 2) where you took the photo: My front yard 3) what message you want to convey via the picture: There's beauty in everything, even if it is a little dead looking x) 4) why did you take the picture that way: I took it so that you could see from a sort of different angle, not head - on like so many pictures. 5) editing: None. ( click here for original size - - you can see everything much clearer. )

entry number two;; 1) What's the main focus: The flowers & colors of them. (especially the white & pink together, love that!) 2) where you took the photo: Outside of my sister's apartment complex in Everett, Seattle. 3) what message you want to convey via the picture: You can't really tell it in this picture, but you can find great things where you least expect it. (I had to tell my parents to stop the car so I could take this. Everyone was getting annoyed, but it was well worth it.) 4) why did you take the picture that way: It was the prettiest of all the angles I shot. 5) editing: All I did was add some saturation to the picture, nothing more. ( click here for original size - - you can see everything much clearer. )

Entry Number One 1~Main focus: This little man had the sweetest little paw pads. I couldn't resist documenting them!! 2~Where: In my apartment in Mesa, AZ 3~Message: Its the little things in life that we miss if we don't time to enjoy them. 4~Why take the picture that way: I wanted to make his paw pads the focal point and have the rest of him be out of focus. 5~Post Processing: I converted it to black and white, as my red sofa was distracting, and then added a small vignette as a subtle border effect.

entry number one What's the main focus: the strings on the neck of the guitar Where you took the photo: my friend, Paul's, basement What message you want to convey via the picture: music is everyone (it's super cliche and such, but it's the name of the album too) Why did you take the picture that way: I took it as a photo for Paul's band's promo CD and it was so much more interesting to the depth of the guitar rather than looking at it head on. Editing: None. Full size

Entry 1-Pine Trunk What's the main focus? The focus of it is the trunk of the pine tree. While I was on a sugar rush in my Grandma's yard, I decided to climb inside the tree. I want people to see nature closer and in a different way than usual. I took the picture this way because, as I said before, it was out of the norm. I didn't really edit this picture because it looked so natural without editing.

The focus of this picture is the ball in the mitt. I was at my Grandma's again and my brother and dad had just gone inside from playing catch. They left the mitts and the ball on the porch and I set them up against the house and took the picture. I kind of want people to see see how great a country America is. (Sorry if you're not from around here.) I took the picture that way because I saw it and just had to set it up and take the picture. :] For editing, I changed the color to sepia.

Entry #1 1) What's the main focus (what you want the people to see), 2) where you took the photo, 3) what message you want to convey via the picture, 4) why did you take the picture that way & 5) how did your edition of the photo contributed to the end product. This photo really has no main focus, but the misted mountains themselves. These mountains can be seen off a winding highway in southern California. Well the story of this picture is that my friend and I were driving down a windy highway through the mountains, and his brakes were heating up so we decided to stop and let them cool off. We walked a little ways until we found a railing infront of a cliff, and it is there that I saw these beautiful misted mountains. quite honestly this is the raw photo, I didn't edit it at all, I couldn't see any way to improve it really XD. as a message for this picture, I wrote a bit of poetry. Look out over cliff to misty mountains high only clear sight with a true dreamer's eye
