Cody nodded, rather glad Rachel didn't mention some insanely long length of time. Extending his wings again, Cody once again attempted to keep himself in the air, searching for a way to make it easier, but still keep him aloft. Sadly, it looked like practicing was the only way to do so.

The brunette smirked a bit. "Sorry, kiddo, but there's only a few ways to get wings to work for you and unless you've got special magic, hard work's the only one that will really work for you here." he explained, loosening his grip just a teensy bit so the boy could feel his own weight just a bit and just what all he had to work to hold up.

Cody scowled a bit at that, but took his word for it. Perhaps there was only one way of flying, which included lots of hard work. Oh well, he wasn't complaining or anything. Just having wings and given the ability to possibly fly someday was enough for him at the moment.
Not only that, but he had the patience (harhar) to learn and become experienced at it too.
Nothing really prepared him for the sudden loss of support. It may have been slight, but Cody noticed rather quickly. Thankfully, he didn't gasp and flail like he felt like doing. Instead, he tried harder to keep himself up in the air without the aide of Rachel. The hybrid felt his weight diminish even more, yet was rather sure in thinking that without Rachel nearby or his support, he would plummet to his doom.

The older man nodded, watching Cody's progress. "Good, good. You're doing well for a first timer. You've already earned yourself a few more coins. Keep it up and I'll give you a large sackful."

Upon hearing what Rachel said, Cody gave him a wide grin. "Seriously? Kay." And so, the child worked even harder at keeping himself in the air while ignoring his exhaustion at the same time. Needless to say, he finally managed to keep himself in the air almost thirty seconds longer than before by the time he was fully tuckered out.
"Did... good?" he questioned, glancing up at his teacher as he hung there.

"Yeah. Just don't overwork yourself, kid." Rachel said, reaching out to wrap an arm around Cody again. "You seem a biiiiiiiit too tired to practice landings today." he assured the boy, flying them neatly back to the ground. "But rest a bit and take it easy and you should be up to doing more. Now...about your reward."

Cody allowed himself to fall lightly to the ground, remaining upright despite his exhaustion. Landing... That would have to wait, he supposed, for a day where he wasn't totally exhausted. And yet, he couldn't help, but perk up considerably as Rachel mentioned his reward. He stood a little straighter and some of his exhaustion seemed to just disappear. "How many gold coins?" he questioned, eager to know and actually hold his reward in his hand.

Rachel reached out to take the boy's hand, moving it so it was open before him. He then pulled out a small pouch full of coins, dumping it into the boy's open palm so he could see and feel them all. Twenty large gold coins fell from it and into Cody's waiting grip, a few spilling out onto the ground but still obviously there.
"Where I come from, these coins are change, but here they were worth some Gaia money, being foreign and of such size."

Cody gasped and grinned ear to ear, admiring the coins with what looked similar to lust. They sparkled and glittered like nothing he had seen before. Shifting the coins to his other hand, after picking up the ones that had fallen, he closely examined one with such fascination it was hard to imagine him ever trading them.
"Thank you!" he managed to say after finally breaking his gaze away from the golden coin. He gently placed all of the coins into his pocket, keeping out the one he had been examining to look over even more later. "There's more elsewhere?" he questioned, suddenly realizing what Rachel had told him about the coins. They were a form of change in another place? That meant there were more... Somewhere within the vast universe.

The man snorted. "Yes, yes there are. And if you want, at some point you can come back for another class with me or come assist me and I'll give you a few more." It seemed an easy way to get a bit of help, provided the boy's parents didn't mind, "Just get permission before you do."

Cody grinned, finding the offer too good to pass up. He would need permission, however, but that would be easy to get. Shadai wouldn't mind, so long as he wasn't in any danger and would be looked after closely enough to be kept out of trouble. "Kay. I will, don't worry. And thanks again!"

Cody nodded, grinning as he wandered over to the building to wait. He'd try calling the house, but he doubted anyone would answer. His mother would be at work and he didn't know the number for it... Oh well, wasn't like he didn't expect it or anything...
