Rika nods, heading back up the steps to retrieve the water for Melody and some cold tisane for herself. She leaves the door open, in case Melody wishes to follow.
Pouring the drinks, she asks over her shoulder, "I understand most Porcelain who are native to this world were raised by humans, like your mother and father?"

Melody doesn't follow Rika; getting the stroller up the stairs would probably take too unnecessarily long... Besides, it's a beautiful day out.
But... "Yes!" Comes the cheerful reply and emphatic nod. Humans or whatever other species adopted them. Grandma June, for example, is LIKE a human, but just a little different, and Melody's Aunt Luna is half human. And then there's Auntie Nusumu, whose mother is Sneaky the Raptor! whee

"... I see."
Rika is not really sure what to make of a Porcelain with a 'raptor' for a mother, but puts that topic aside. "I would be interesting to me," she says, now turning around with a glass of corn tisane in one hand and a glass of ice water in the other, "to see if these 'Gaian Porcelain' are more similar to or different from we Porcelain of the Empire in various ways..."
She sets both drinks down, nudging the water towards Melody. "... For example, I notice it does not bother you so much to touch strangers? Do you know if the Lucid Porcelain of Gaia share this characteristic?"

Melody purses her lips together and thinks.
The only Lucid Gaian Porcelain that Melody knows are Uncle Silver and Uncle Grumpy...
Uncle Silver's pretty touchy, Melody thinks. He and Daddy were always hugging and Uncle Silver didn't mind when Daddy went OM NOM NOM to his shoulder and stuff...
Uncle Grumpy, well... Melody doesn't know him too well, she admits. He hit her once when she was REALLY REALLY LITTLE because she startled him really badly, but he didn't mean anything bad and then Daddy was so angry that Great-Grandpa Tsukiba had to yank him by the ponytail and drag him outside and then Daddy cried and cried...
...
Melody hasn't seen Uncle Grumpy in a long time...

Rika watches Melody with a flat expression, raising her glass to her lips to take a sip. "... I see."
Then -- whether sensing that Melody's mood has changed and wishing to change the subject, or being completely oblivious to the mood change and charging onward with her characteristic insensitivity, Rika asks, "And, do you find that you have more or less vital desire than your husband?"

Rika nods, leaning back slightly as if satisfied. True, she would like to ask Melody why, for example, it was so difficult to say so... but she can press for that information some other time.

Melody shrugs. She wouldn't really say that. Melody and Boyue are equally dedicated, she thinks. Maybe Melody a little more than Boyue, because there's more she CAN do since Boyue isn't... equipped.
But on the other hand, there's Daddy, who is far, far, far, far, far, FAR more dedicated to his children and his grandchildren and the girls he and Melody adopted and anyone else they end up taking care of! He loves children, and he loves taking care of children and he's the best daddy and granddaddy EVER! 3nodding
And try though Melody might, she can't hide the bitterness that strains her features...
She thinks, perhaps, he is working twice as hard to pick up her mother's slack.

... Rika seems a little bit surprised when Melody begins to speak of her mother; her barely-interested expression changes, her eyebrows raising enough to make her monocle wobble a little, and she quickly reaches up to fix it.
... ... ... Rika didn't know Melody's mother still lived with them.
