When?
It should be done whenever they ask and as soon as the knowledge will benefit them. Whichever comes first.

I say teach your children about sex when they ask about it, about fifth grade (before that you should use the stork XD) My parents made it seem like it was a natural body process (which it is) so i never saw it as anything spectacular TV just glorifies it these days...
The WORST way to learn about things is TV and the internet (most places, some are okay)

As I learned in Lifespan yesterday, the average of girls hitting puberty is getting shorter and shorter. The average now is 9 years old for girls. Yes. At 9 years old, your kid can have a child, and will start developing busty chests and all that.
I say that as soon as the kid hits puberty or even before, tell them about it. It's best they know what's going on with their bodies and why they get urges and why things happen. If not, they'll most likely do something stupid in their naivete.

I honestly wish people wouldn't have to know about it. My parents never taught me anything about it. They had "Family Life" class in junior high (Catholic school) that taught us about reproductive parts, but not about sex.
I was 13-14 when I started puberty. I read a book on puberty to learn about it. I was rather sheltered to say the least. I still wish to this day that I didn't know about sex. ._. I was corrupted by some l;udilu;sidt online a year or two later.
In relation to the topic, I'd say when they're mature enough to handle it. Once they've at least started puberty. My first statement still stands though.

i'm not sure of an exact age, but in my opinion it should be a young age. if one was to wait, then they'd hear things from friends and get curious. make any sense?

I heard it all from my peers. In about 6th grade. I've never had to have that talk with my parents (thankfully).
I also think that they should be told when they ask, or when they need to know.
Girls can go through puberty at 9? That surprised me. I did when I was 12.., ewh; that seems too young to me.

I believe you should let them find out on their own, 'tis what my parents did to me...
I learned when I was young, I clicked a link I shouldn't have clicked while in an AOL chatroom and saw the most beautiful thing in the world, porn. -musical chior- From there it was newgrounds, IFC channel at night, and imagefap~
