Rivener let out a low, sultry laugh of elation when he was caught, feeling the demon's arms and wings wrap around him like a cocoon. He was caught, alright, without a doubt! As soon as the Scorpion's red eyes flicked up to stare at the blue ones, Rivener's wings froze and he could only manage to do one thing: try to breathe. Hard to do when his lungs hitched at the sight. Both accessory-laden arms moved only slightly, lifting up to wrap back around Zul to finish their entangling thoroughly.

The question came quickly, leaving Riv to believe Zul might think of this often. With a breathy chuckle the Sigel tilted his head a bit and answered. He'd be as honest as he could, when he himself wasn't sure what had really possessed him that day.

"You were simply so very attractive to me, Zul. I thought you were the most intriguing, beautiful Raevan I'd ever seen, and I wanted to keep you all to myself. The only way I could think of to stake a claim on you was to kiss you... Do you like when I kiss you? Ah- no, don't answer that yet. I have to chase and catch you first."
Disentangling himself from the demon frei regretfully, Rivener floated a ways aside, grinning. "I'll give you a head start, my Zuuuul. Go!"

Flexing his wings, Rivener waited for his prey to zoom off. There was an answer to be won!

The embrace was nice, but the answer was nicer. Zul tilted his head back to observe the Sigel as he talked, blue eyes stark against the red of Rivener's own. They weren't alike at all, but the elder Raevan insisted on an attraction. Thought he was beautiful! Enough so to claim him - and that was everything the demon wanted to hear. His smile softened into his more neutral, calm expression as the Sigel floated back, telling him it was his turn to flee.

For the life of him, he could not make himself move, staring at Rivener for several more heartbeats. The Scorpion wanted to keep him as his own, and now the concept of moving away from him was completely lost on the Frei. Zul wondered what question he'd ask of him - if it was the kissing one - and it was only then that he convinced himself to move, although it wasn't in the right direction. The dark-skinned Raevan floated up to Rivener, taking the Scorpion's grinning face between his gloved hands and kissing him soundly. "My Rivener," he purred softly against the Sigel's lips before he was gone.

He wanted to be caught, but he knew his strength was nothing in comparison to the elder Raevan's, which mean he had to show off in a different manner.

It was only the second time he'd ever willingly approached the water, and maybe one of the last, since the first time didn't go over so well. His ribbon found the foamy crest of the water as he glided, and only when it was halfway in did he suddenly veer to the side to run alongside the water rather than into it, exposing his rune to the water. The spray of mixed elements that resulted scared him again, but it gave him a great thrill up his spiked spine to see it and know now what it was. The water arched with his momentum, the droplets freezing in mid-air, even as the liquid closest to him boiled; the arch splattered over his fleeing form as he zipped through and out of the waters back to the beach, ice crystals in his wake.

White sand spun and stuck to his ribbon, the excitement of his power manifesting giving him the bright-eyed and bushy-winged appearance again. The bone frames of his wings lowered and folded against his back for optimum speed, although he didn't seem to be putting his all into it - the motion also covered the spines of his back, something he hoped would spare any unpleasant accidents from their game.

Wild blue eyes glowed with a life of their own as they turned over his shoulder to Rivener. Catch me.

Rivener was surprised to see Zul come towards him instead of away from him. Perhaps the demon didn't understand the game and thought he was still the one supposed to do the chasing? The Sigel remained where he was, tilting his head in confusion for only a split second before the demon frei's hands lifted. Then, then Rivener understood what was going on. He leaned his head down into the kiss lightly, the corners of his lips curling up blissfully, a breathless chuckle escaping his throat.

Zul's voice calling his name was the last moment of stillness between them, perfect and wonderful. It sent Rivener's heart to thumping wildly, and the sudden gust of wind as Zul dashed off in the next second warned that the thumping wouldn't stop any time soon. Grinning, Rivener snapped himself out of his stunned amazement after a moment, strong wings beating once and propelling the Scorpion forward with incredible speed.

Riv frowned slightly when he saw Zul heading to the water; hmm, that was one place Rivener wasn't quite willing to follow. The cold ocean waves never agreed with him. He'd have to follow at a higher altitude and angle down once the demon headed back onto the sand. A tilt of his wings brought Rivener up a dozen feet, far from the ocean and its cold.

From up here, Rivener saw it all perfectly. Red eyes widened, amazed anew but this time for a whole different reason. Zul's powers? The water was boiling under him, then freezing on the way back up and falling around behind him in an arched display that looked like lace in the moonlight. It was beautiful, and Riv lost some of his speed as he watched, mouth hanging slightly open.

Zul veered back onto the sand then, leaving a short trail of ice droplets from his ribbon. Riv somehow managed to regain control of his senses when the demon glanced back over his shoulder, the Scorpion lowering his head down with determination and snapping his wings once, giving a strong forward push then flattening them against his sides, letting himself fall from his height and zoom directly for Zul like a bullet.

"Nh!" Riv grunted softly as he held back from barrelling into the demon full-force, settling for wrapping both arms around the frei's body carefully enough to avoid the spikes on either of them. The speed they were both going still sent the floating bodies into a slight side-ways spin, Riv teetering softly before righting himself. "Got you," he breathed with a grin. "So my question from before... Did you like it when I kissed you?"

In all honesty there were many other things Rivener would rather ask, but he was a little afraid of the answer. Like "how do you really feel about me" or "do you even know what love is?" or "can you promise me you'll never ever ever like anyone else more than me?" ...Maybe later. Maybe he could work up the courage after a while.

There was warmth against him, the world tilting and spinning before suddenly righting itself to its normal position. Zul laughed his enjoyment, tousled hair glowing haphazardly under the gentle pulse of his horn, breathing his reply through his joy, "Always got me!" He made sure to face the Scorpion, arms resting over his shoulders in a relaxed manner as if they hadn't just been carving the sand with their inhuman speed. "Yes," he replied with certainty, his smile wide and easy. "Very much. The first time - everytime. I want it."

And to prove his point, he kissed the Sigel's chin, skirting the elder Raevan's lips as though to tease him. Either because it seemed appropriate or he was compelled because Rivener had done it, he elaborated, adding, "You taught me to kiss, but I never want to kiss anyone else." Zul's smile was brighter than the delicate pulse of blue in his meager garments, fingers momentarily touching the bi-colored locks again. "My Rivener is beautiful."

It was his turn all too soon, and thinking of what else he could question of the Sigel, he slid out of Rivener's embrace and floated back a ways. His wings beat lazily beneath the ever-darkening sky, his smile still lighting his mischevious features as he watched the other Raevan. He knew Rivener was helping him, but he was rather smitten with the thought that his Scorpion would want to be caught. It added an entirely different spin on the game that gave him another thrill up his spiked back; what it meant, he was still sorting, but he had a feeling it would only benefit them.

Rivener smiled at Zul's initial comment of always getting him. That HAD to mean a little more than just in racing, right? Ah, Riv shouldn't get his hopes up so high, reading more into things than he should... He had to take it easy, be cool, be mysterious and just aloof enough to keep-... keep-...

Zul's words wiped any thought out of Rivener's mind. The victorious smirk at having caught the demon fell into an open expression of awe and adoration, and a soft inarticulate sound of bliss fell from the Scorpion's lips when he felt that kiss on his chin. As if the Sigel wasn't devastated enough by the declaration, Zul continued, claiming he would never want to kiss anyone else, and then calling Riv beautiful, fingers barely brushing at the red-and-black hair. Rivener all but melted, drooping down a few inches closer to the ground, half-moaning with a silly smile on his face. Had he owned knees, they would be buckling. Red eyes looked deeply into blue ones, trapped there, unable to look away...

Zul moved away then, Riv's only means of support floating back out of his reach. The Scorpion floated a little lower still before he managed to get ahold of himself, shaking his head and rustling his wings, uncurling his ribbon to give himself a slight boost up to his normal height again. "That was a... A very good answer, Zul. Thank you." Riv knew it was too dark for the frei to see his slight blush, but it still left him a little self-conscious. Good thing he was expected to be running away right about now! He would have the time to compose himself back into the person Zul was attracted to, instead of his girlish, stupid mess of admiration and, and-... hn.

"Hurry and catch me, then!" Riv called as he grinned, wings snapping open wide against the moonlight and then beating down strongly, sending a cloud of sand lifting as he sped off.

Contrary to Zul, Rivener stayed far from the water. He zoomed full-speed so close to the ground that it would almost seem like he was sliding bodily across the sand, leaving a gouge in his wake. Bits of his clothing and the tips of his wings dragged along the ground once in a while, creating a skittering, swishing sound. Riv headed towards the rocks closer to the house, veering upwards at the last second and continuing up along the stone harmlessly. He finally stopped here to allow the other to catch up to him, Riv's body turning head-down with his stomach against the cliffs, arms and wings out to hold him steady like spiderlegs. Red eyes only had time to spot the blue flashes of Zul's horns and eyes before Riv had to move again; the demon was already here! Laughing, rather enjoying this game, Riv continued to skitter along the stone, hopping from one jutting rock to another once his chaser caught up. It wasn't as fast as flying, but Riv would only play hard-to-get for so long, after all.

He leapt from one outcropping to another just a split second too late, allowing himself to fall into Zul's path.

The smile he wore shifted into brief surprise at being thanked, especially when he was only playing by the rules of their game. Why, then, would the Sigel thank him? Was it because he was being polite, or was it because he really wanted that answer? Or maybe it was the wrong one all together? Was there a right and wrong way to answer these strange and intimate questions? How could he know? Zul now had more questions in his mind than they had hours in the night, which meant he'd have to narrow them down, and fast. Rivener was off again, and not one to be left behind, the Frei followed against his waves of sand.

As the wind tugged fingers through his hair and kissed his cheek, he began to really think about the game they were playing. It was a right, a spoil of war, to ask the question, so they had to be sure not to ask something so simple that could easily be spoken of in any other conversation. Not only was the challenge to catch the rock-scaling Scorpion, but to make the ends justify the means, to pose his question as something worth the efforts. As the demon gave chase up the rock face, he began to wonder just what it was Rivener thought as 'worthy.' Maybe there was something specific he wanted him to ask, something not considered polite by normal means. Maybe he wanted to test Zul to make sure his vocabulary wasn't actually so terrible. Maybe he hadn't any ulterior motive at all. Then again, maybe Zul was over-thinking for the first time in his short life, and he hadn't the slightest clue what that could mean.

He was following almost as though on auto-pilot, so when Rivener missed his mark, the demon was quickly on him. Bare arms closed swiftly around the longer torso, again finding himself warmly within the Scorpion's presence and the scent of night and fresh rain that seemed to come with him. Zul's wings beat rapidly for a few seconds to make sure he didn't knock them both over, rings clattering against the stone with his efforts before he settled, almost nesting against the older Raevan with momentarily distant blue eyes. It was his turn. What question could he pose...?

Their game had been about kissing so far, the why of its purpose and effect. He felt as though he were winded from thinking about all of this far more than he was from the chase, his eyes coming into focus as he turned them up to meet Rivener's scarlet ones. Why? That seemed to be the start of a lot of his questions, and so he instead turned it into the root of them. "What does it mean, to you," he emphasized carefully, not wanting a generalized answer, "to claim me?"

He'd heard answers. He'd heard from his woman, from Zeke, a little from Brad and even had a decent idea of Aphismet's opinion of it all from their last meeting. Now, the only one that mattered, and the one that would form his opinion, would be from Rivener and Rivener alone.

Rivener grinned as he was caught, the other picking up on that created opening in Riv's defense. With a rattle of wing-bones and gold rings, Zul had pinned them both to the stones, the demon pressed against his captive harmlessly. The Scorpion's own wings rustled to a comfortable position behind him, flattening to the rocks easily. Red eyes peered down at the blue ones, and this was when Riv's smile faltered.

Why was Zul looking so-... so distant? The intensely blue eyes were focused on something far away that no one else would see, turned almost completely inward. Rivener wondered if he'd done something wrong. Had Zul suddenly lost interest in the game, and was therefore thinking of something else? Playing with Riv only to cater to the Sigel's whims? A very slight frown began drawing itself on Riv's face. He shifted in place and opened his mouth to speak, thinking he should ask if Zul was alright.

Suddenly the blue eyes were on him again, focusing intently on Riv's ruby gaze, and the question came. Riv's partly-opened lips clamped shut and his eyes widened slightly as the color drained slightly from his face.

Rivener knew the answer to that question. It had popped into his mind instantly, and it rang so true that the Sigel knew there was no other answer that would do. But to just SAY it? The consequences could be...

"Uh-..." Riv began intelligently, glancing aside and flushing slightly. He had to make a decision, and fast. Did he say, and risk alienating the frei? Did he keep it inside and risk disappointing Zul with his lack of reply? "Um..." Realizing he was only stalling now, the Scorpion took a deep breath, let it out slowly, and then snapped his gaze to Zul's again, red eyes intense and almost daring Zul to look away.

"This isn't easy for me to answer, Zul. I don't want you to... to become confused or angry at me for what I'm going to answer. But I understand if you, ah... If you aren't comfortable with it. What it means for me to claim you, as you call it, is... Is that I love you. I love you. ...Do you know what that means?"
Riv tilted his head, lifting both hands from the stone to gently caress them onto Zul's arms, as though trying to hold on to something fragile that might fly away any second. He forgot about the game, forgot that he'd asked a question without catching Zul first: it didn't matter anymore. Riv had given up his biggest secret. What else was there to chase for?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 01, 2009 8:14 pm

That...was not the reaction Zul was anticipating. Teasing, maybe, an answer to stir more questions and drive the demon mad with want of knowing, but he did not think that Rivener would look so...

...scared?

Zul stared with wide-eyed shock at Rivener, his attempt at a smile slipping off his face. He hadn't thought there were right and wrong questions, and it seemed this one had been a wrong one! He almost told Rivener that he could forget it, that he'd ask another question, something light-hearted about sunbathing without clothes, but the look the Sigel gave him stilled his thoughts. If the demon could be quieted, the Scorpion had just managed to quell him with a glance.

His wings tucked against what back he had, eyes searching Rivener's as he talked without even the thought of looking away. He wanted to know this answer that was so difficult for his Rivener, because it would surely be important! Especially if he was afraid of confusing him. Or angering him. Or...? Zul tilted his triple-horned crown to the side, his expression almost one of concern at the Sigel's idea that he would be uncomfortable. Why would he be uncomfortable with--

Flowers.

Zul blinked one and not again, the pulse of his gorget pausing as though holding its breath. He stared at Rivener in silence, distantly wondering if there was a word greater than 'shocked' to describe how he felt. The thought was gone, seemingly along with all other ability to think at all, feeling the familiar warmth of the Scorpion's hands on his arms, the weight of his red eyes. Awaiting an answer. Apparently, answers were in shorter supply than questions as he'd previously thought! The demon took a short breath out of feeling more than necessity, his wings arching subconsciously, the bone tips gently nudging over Rivener's fingers in reassurance.

"Not...entirely." The words were slow and made his tongue feel heavy. He didn't like admitting he didn't fully understand it, but he had an idea. "Some of it, yes, but..." Rivener was right, it wasn't easy to answer! His lips moved soundlessly before he continued on in his halting fashion of trying to convey his thoughts clearly. "You have picked your One, the One to always be with and be happy with." If he understood from all he'd learned from his Guardian, movies, even commercials - it was a Big Deal to say 'love' to someone. To give them a token of that love, or words, but some words meant more than others just as some tokens did. Just as he'd wanted to give Rivener flowers, to always see him smile, even in his absence...was that love? "Love is admitting that, right?" Alex had mentioned something along those lines, or maybe it was Zeke; his mind couldn't have been further from the humans in that moment.

His head tilted to the side again, arms finally moving from around the Sigel's body; instead of embracing him, his fingers drew over Rivener's jacket, tracing the skin that he could reach around its folds. Fear and uncertainty weren't with him, but instead a curiosity and a strong desire to understand. To know. "Where does love take you?" he asked in return, his voice little more than smoke in that moment. "What would happen now?" It hadn't yet occurred to him that he might vocalize his inner thoughts and sentiments, wanting to see first and foremost what it meant to Rivener.

Rivener stood stock-still as Zul struggled through his answer, apparently as shocked as Rivener had been when struggling through his own. It couldn't be helped, and the frei couldn't be blamed for acting strangely now. Riv felt himself deflate a little on the inside when he heard that Zul didn't quite know what love meant, what love was. See?! You shouldn't have put all this on him! his inner voice berated. Thankfully, the Sigel's face displayed none of this internal strife, red eyes level and lips pressed into a thin, waiting line.

Zul's descriptions a moment after he'd claimed to not entirely know were rather accurate, although they sounded a little dry. But even then, Rivener couldn't correct those notions; he had no idea how to describe Love accurately either. Zul WAS right: it was about admitting that you'd found your One. But, well... love came even BEFORE admitting it, that much was crystal clear in Rivener's case. It had taken a bunch of stars to practically yell it at him for him to get it through his thick skull...

Ah, Zul's arms were slipping away. Rivener wanted to protest but he felt he had no right. He's the one who'd suddenly said all this stuff and probably scared off the demon. He'd have to make his peace with that. The Scorpion kept waiting for Zul to completely break off contact, but instead the glove-bared fingers slid along the red-and-black jacket's edges, caressing Riv's skin. Zul's next question was wholly unexpected, causing Riv's lips to part open in surprise slightly, ruby eyes still fixed on the demon-frei's tilted head.

"Where does it take you? What happens now? I-I don't know any of that, Zul. Love is complicated, and it's different for everyone, I think. We could kiss, we could see each other more often, we could-... I don't know. I really don't know. All I know is that when I'm around you I feel different from when I'm around anyone else. My stomach flutters, my heart beats faster, and I feel more alive than any other time. It makes me smile just thinking about you. That's all I know... I'm new at this stuff too, Zul. This never happened before." Not like THIS, at least. Riv had been wrong the other time with Roux, it hadn't been Love, it was Pride. Pride because he was special to the ice raevan. But not Love.

"If we were humans, I suppose we'd go out on dates or something. Like our Guardians are doing now. Or we'd move in together after a while, but that's not likely to happen since we're supposed to stay with our Guardians. ...A-am I even answering your question enough for your liking?"
The Scorpion lifted a hand to trace a finger softly down the demon's jawline, admiring it. A good excuse not to look into those blue eyes for a moment, slightly self-conscious about his own lack of knowledge in this area.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 08, 2009 6:33 pm

The demon listened. His fingers continued their small, gentle contact, fingertips slipping between tracing the hem of Rivener's jacket and the skin beneath, eyes flicking between the point of contact at the Sigel's eyes. When Rivener began to explain what love felt like, he listened as hard as he could, but immediately felt discouraged by the first part: my stomach flutters. One hand lowered then, fingers touching his ribbon where his stomach might one day be. No stomach. No flutters. Did that mean he couldn't love?

The thought wholey upset him, but he thought, maybe, that being upset meant he could love, or at least have the ability to understand it. He could be entirely wrong, but if his Scorpion could love him, he could have faith. Zul listened to the rest of what was to be said, but if anything, it perplexed him a little more. Tilting his head into the touch to his jaw, he murmured lightly so as not to disturb Rivener's finger, "We've always kissed...from first day. I want to see you, I think about you everyday. Even back then, you were special." After a pause, his lips pursing in thought, he questioned, "Did we love that first day?"

Could he accept that? Yes, he could. He didn't even have to think about it. Rivener had been special since the day they met, and the demon knew that the then-Frei had impacted his life greatly. If not for the Sigel's presence and influence, would he have questioned Alex so? Would he have clung so tightly to the notion of flowers? Would he have braved that awful tinkling contraption to try and talk to Rivener? If not for the dark Sigel with him, he was certain he would not have come so far.

And yet...

"I don't have a stomach," he sighed miserably. He just wanted to know if he loved Rivener, too! It seemed obvious to him that the answer should be yes, but if it was complicated, maybe it was no; everything had been simple to him when it came to courting and being courted by the Scorpion. "Is it not love if it's all right?" Isn't that what he'd told his woman? What if he was wrong? Did that mean he was in love? Closing his blue eyes, he floated closer to Rivener until his pentagram-marked brow touched the Sigel's collar bone, fingers curling into his jacket. "Rivener is answering well." But...

"We're not humans. So we determine what we do now." Taking a deep breath, he turned his head to face Rivener, cheek now against the other's shoulder. "What do you want to do?"

Zul's reactions were all subdued, thoughtful. To be expected, Riv figured. At least it was better (much better!) than being laughed at, or being pushed away. Riv's finger finished its journey along the demon's jaw, coming to rest at his gorget, admiring the color. Zul's soft words as he spoke soothed the Scorpion as well as any caress, and Riv let his eyes lift back up to the other's blue ones when Zul asked that one question: Did they love that first day?

...Most probably, Rivener realized. He'd never have thought twice about flirting that strongly with anyone else; it's just fun to do. But Zul had occupied his mind for DAYS after. Riv hadn't thought anything of it at the time, but it was so clear now it was borderline embarrassing. How could Riv have not seen it? How could he have denied it for so long, refused to even hear the stars say it? Riv felt rather foolish.

He wanted to speak, he wanted to ask more, to talk more, but he had nothing to say. And besides, Zul looked like he was thinking things through... Riv did NOT want to interrupt such concentration. He waited patiently, the finger lifting from the Frei's gorget to thread up into the short, cream-and-fire hair. What was Zul thinking about, Rivener wondered? Was he considering their time together, the few times they'd met? The connection between them, its nature? Something else? The Sigel was dying to know, but he said nothing.

Zul's voice, when it finally came, sounded so distraught. Riv smiled, knowing exactly what the Frei meant. Aphi had been right: a stomach was needed, perhaps. Zul couldn't really know if he loved Riv until he was also a Sigel... But until then, whatever they had now was enough. "I don't know if this is love or not, since you have no stomach... But I can wait, Zul." Both of the Scorpion's hands lifted up to tangle in the other's hair, holding Zul's head to Riv's shoulder. "What we have is still right, like you say. You're right, we're not humans, are we... Maybe this is how it should be for us. A test. I'll wait for you, and I'll love you enough for both of us, and you just feel what you feel for now, without overthinking it, okay? Then when you grow, when you have a stomach, then you can tell me if you love me. Alright?" Riv smiled as he glanced down, meeting the demon's blue eyes. "We'll take this at our pace, not human pace."

It wasn't the fairytale I Love You that Rivener had wished to hear fro Zul, but it wasn't the complete disaster Rivener had feared and expected, either. It was somewhere in the middle, and the Scorpion found he didn't mind. In fact, he thought it was rather romantic to wait for the other to become a Sigel as well... "Does this suit you, my Zul?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 13, 2009 8:08 pm

His eyes never left Rivener's face, although they lidded a fair amount when those fingers sifted through his locks. The Frei adjusted a little more to rest a bit more closely to the Sigel, one palm resting comfortably on Rivener's chest, the other wrapping loose around his hips again. Zul wasn't really sure what to make of the scenario, wanting to understand but grasped that it wasn't yet something he could understand. Part of him resented that fact, if not only because it meant acknowledging, on some level, that his woman was right.

"Wait?" He echoed the word with surprise, blinking rapidly for a moment as if he couldn't quite process that one word and what it meant. Zul's gaze flicked between the Scorpion's lips and those unusually serene red eyes, certain that if he did have a stomach, he'd be feeling exactly what he thought he should in that moment. How could Rivener promise him such a thing? What if...?

"What if...I don't grow for a long time?" There was soft worry in his tone, even as Rivener's presence worked to soothe him. "Or if Rivener finds another he wants?" The demon couldn't help that small, ugly flare of jealousy, fingers curling against the bare skin as though to ward off some phantom menace. No, Zul did not approve of that one bit, but there was something else he disliked more, although he couldn't quite put his finger on it, vocalizing it the best he could. "Rivener is doing so much for me. It's not fair to you."

It seemed like the Sigel was willing to do everything for the Frei's sake, and as comforting as it was to know the Scorpion would understand that he still had child-like tendancies, it didn't sit well with him. He wanted to do something in return, something that could prove that he was being true - but what? He was just a Frei, after all. Silence reined for a moment before he found his voice again, still soft, but with warmth, "If Rivener is happy, if my Rivener can be happy like this...yes. It suits me."

Rivener could tell something was still bothering Zul, but once the demon gave voice to his concerns Riv found them to be far from what he'd expected. Zul already sounded jealous, possessive to some degree, worrying that Rivener would fall out of love before the Frei could catch up to him in physical maturity... Rivener smirked, rather flattered by the display. He never would have thought it, but the Sigel very much liked knowing someone would be jealous over him, especially the usually-calm and composed Zul.

"It's okay, Zul. You still like me very much, right? It's not like I'm getting nothing at all. And I really don't think I'll find someone else I want, I've been around years and years already and have only just found you. ...I won't lie and say I'm completely happy this way, I DO want you to be grown up soon so you can tell me if you love me too... But it's enough, like this. I'm happy enough." Rivener smiled, pressing his lips to Zul's jaw and leaving a small trail of kisses all the way to the demon's own lips, where Riv kissed for a little longer, drawing it out. "Mmmnn..."

Something beeped in Rivener's pocket, causing the Scorpion to cut their kiss short. Frowning, already knowing what he'd find, Riv moved a hand from its very comfortable spot in Zul's hair, fishing the cell phone out of the Scorpion's pocket. Red eyes glanced down and turned off the alarm, looking at the digital time displayed on the front panel. "Ugh, I should go," he said with mild disappointment. "It takes awhile to get back to Durem from here, and if I don't go soon Aphi will get home before I do and he'll be angry I snuck out." The Sigel heaved a deep sigh, pocketing the cell phone again and lacing his arms around the demon's shoulders, holding him close in an affectionate hug.

"...I don't wanna go,"
Rivener whined in a rare moment of Not-So-Mysterious, showing his true colors without fear of Zul not liking him anymore. Only for an instant.

"I like you very much," Zul repeated and confirmed with conviction. He would have looked quite stubborn and certain if not for the kiss that shed him of his discomfort of the situation, silencing his objections in a most satisfactory manner. Still, the Sigel's words lingered, made him think just a little more outside of his perfect little world.

Blue eyes opened, unaware that they'd closed at all beneath the kiss, blinking a few times as though to get his bearings as the insistant beeping continued. His gaze followed the Scorpion's hand, recognizing the tinkling thing as one his woman had, although it didn't make that noise. Maybe it wasn't a tinkling thing? But that wasn't what was important, not when Rivener looked like that and told him he had to go. The words made his wings lower a little, his only outward sign of defeat and discontent for the announcement. "Do you have to?" he inquired quietly, returning the embrace with his own arms wound about the longer torso. Zul didn't want him to leave...

Hearing his own thoughts voiced made him grin widely up to Rivener. There was something sweet about the Raevan being so open, so much more to the point in his feelings without upset. "I wish you could stay," he admitted, feeling a bit more at ease that he wasn't the only one who felt so strongly against it, "but I will see you again, my Rivener." It was a universal truth, as far as he was concerned, and neither distance nor cranky Guardians were going to change this one, perfect fact.

It was the first time he'd noticed the crack in that mysterious, alluring aura that the Scorpion usually wrapped around himself like a mantle, but he was not disappointed. He liked it, the ability to be relied on, to be trusted. "Thank you, for coming to see me. This was the best day I've ever had."

Rivener clung to the demon, nuzzling at him softly and making unintelligibly quiet sounds of protest. He'd have to let go soon, and go home. He soooooo did not want to! Zul's words, wishing that Riv could stay but promising that he will see the Scorpion again, went a long way in strengthening the Sigel's resolve. Zul sounded so absolutely certain... He WAS going to see Rivener again, and Riv wholly believed him. Smiling, the Scorpion let go and moved away, staying within arm's reach for now, lifting a clawed hand to trace fingers along Zul's jaw. Rivener's face melted up into a smile at hearing his Zul say that this was the best day ever.

"We've only seen each other for close to an hour," Rivener said with a chuckle. "Your best day ever will be beaten someday soon: I'll try to convince Aphismet to come stay at the beach for a while, and then we can be together for the whole, entire day. Maybe even more than one day! ...But, for now I guess I really should be going..."

The smile dimmed a little, but Riv kept his lips turned up as much as he could. He leaned close for a final kiss, a chaste pressing of lips on lips, breaking it before it could become more heated.

"...Bye, Zul. I'll see you!" With a final grin, Riv moved himself back and turned, a strong beat of leathery wings taking him towards the road. He had a long way to go back, and this time his thoughts weren't plagued with nerves and anxiety; quite the opposite! All the way back Rivener thought of bright blue eyes, soft cream-and-fire hair, warm lips...
