What about salt? Where does that fall in this analogy?

The salt will be rubbed in the eyes.

well be glad you landed on the 2X4 and not falling all the way to the floor, this is why the concept of a proper floor should be taken into account for attic space.

Hey Rappa, long time no see. And I think one of the reasons attics don't have a proper floor is because it would make the top living level of the house far too hot during the summer. It'd probably be pretty good for winter though.
Then again, I'm not an architect, so my guess could be very wrong.

Pretty much the exact opposite Brian. Do you know how a thermos works? It has a layer of air inside. That layer keeps any outside temperatures from going inside. It would actually be nice all year round.

Then why is my attic practically an oven during the summer time?

it wouldnt even take that much to make it a little safer, just putting down some thick plywood or particle board over the insilation would be enough to catch you if you missed your step like I did. damn this bruse looks really bad, I dont think its to serious but its still a bit sore

:/ Well, my house is pretty old. At least 60 years old. Or maybe it's just because of where I live. *shrug*

Actually, that's probably the point. If the attics smokin hot, then that's all heat that hasn't found it's way into your house.

Hmm...yeah...I never thought about it that way...but then again, my room is about 5-10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house for some reason.

Mine too. But I think I got that room because everyone hates me.

I picked my room from between the one I have and the one my sister has. :/ Supposedly, mine's bigger. Later did I realize it was next to some air conditioning thing or heater or something, which created a lot of noise, making it hard to hear my games. Until my dad replaced the vents with wall. I miss being able to see who's outside my door, though.
