((That's okay. I've been a little sluggish in my response to rps anyway. XD))
"Sounds amazing!" Eventide called back over her shoulder as she headed toward the interesting thing that she'd spotted. It was a curious little creature, mostly black, except with a long white stripe down its back...
"What's this?" she asked her new family excitedly.

As Zavia came up alongside Eventide, her face twisted in disgust at the smell. "Uh," she was speechless for a moment as she noticed exactly what it was. "Back up slowly, make no sudden movements," Zavia whispered as she took a step back. "It's a skunk, they have foul smells to 'em."

Eventide's nose wrinkled as the repulsive odor reached her nostrils. "Ew," Eventide frowned, backing up quickly. For the first time she did NOT immediately love everything in this new world.
"What else is there to see?" Eventide asked when she was a safe distance away from the creature.

Zavia followed after Eventide, and once they stopped she plopped down on the snow. It was so cool and refreshing, especially after the smelly creature under the bush. "Let's see. You haven't seen a bird yet? They sleep and nest in the trees, and fly. They're beautifull and it's fun to chase them."

"Birds?" Eventide repeated curiously, awe in her voice, "They fly?! What do they look like? Do they look like dragons, or that smelly thing? Where can we find one? Up here?!" Eventide scampered over to the base of a tree and made a pitiful effort to climb up to the lowest branch.
It was no use. Her tiny limbs were just too short... Eventide thought a moment. "Can dragons fly?" she wondered aloud, half-serious.

Zavia nodded, "They sure do! Instead of fur, they're covered in feathers. Some are very colorful, others can be one color and look plain. But they're all beautiful," she trotted over to Eventide and peered up into the treetops. "Let's see. There is a nest right up there," she pointed with one white claw toward a small mess of twigs, toward the top. It was safe from any snow that may have fallen in, as it had a thick canopy of leaves protecting the nest. "There we are. That little thing is a bird," Zavia indicated above their heads as a small sparrow flew toward the nest and was answered with a chorus of little chirps.
"I wish we could. It'd be amazing," she went to a daydream mode for a moment. Pulling out of her reverie, Zavia shook her head. "But no, we can't. We might not ever be able to. But I've heard some amazing stories about dragons from centuries ago. They were great big ones, and had massive webbed wings. Some had feathered, like the bird there. But that's all history and old stories," she wiped the thought away, not wanting to fill a young one's mind with foolishness. "What else would you like to do?"
Elise took a position laying down under a tree, and listened to them. A smile crossed her snout as she remembered telling Zavia all of those stories so long ago. It seemed like yestarday.
