That's so exciting! heart
I always love the firsts... the first time you get to hear the heart beat, the first time you feel the baby kick, the first time you get to see the baby (ultrasound)... It's all just so exciting! heart
Yeah, it's always a good idea to bring those up with the Doctor. I know I had a lot of questions at my second appointment. My first appointmetn I was so sick and so out of it... sweatdrop
10 weeks is when you first can hear the heart beat.

we saw an ultrasound yesterday and heard the heartbeating, it was great..
I had a two minute appointment, pretty much enough to ask a few questions and to do the "unofficial" ultrasound..

"still a girl" was typed on one of the print-out pictures. So two ultrasounds say it's a girl. *giggle* plus that was my feeling from the get-go.
Everything measured normal with the ultrasound--heart, brain, kidneys, etc, etc. My OB said that my uterus is growing "beautifully" and the ultrasound put me at 20 weeks today (so according to the ultrasound my due date would be the 28, not the 26--OB said with it being that close she's not going to change my due date though). Oh, and when the ultrasound tech was done with the measurements and went to get some proflies shots for us the baby was waving. heart It was so cute!
I also talked to her 'cause I've been feeling anxious lately. I mean having had one baby alreay I kinda know what I'm in for. I'm not worried about labor (even went natural), but the thought of a brand new baby's been getting to me. The sleepless nights, the feeling of being tied down (nursing every couple hourse) and losing my "me time." She said that a lot of moms feel this way with the second one. She said for her she just didn't think about it, and let it hit her when the second one was actually there.

I'm 30 weeks along with my first baby (and first pregnancy) and felt the first kicks probably around week 13, maybe even earlier, but it was about there that I learned to recognise it.
I had an appointment on the 14th and that was the first time I got to hear the heartbeat, it was averaging around 143-145 (give or take depending on her level of activity).. though that's what I read off the machine, not what they told me, so I hope it's the right number. She loved kicking the microphone. The appointment seemed to go well, just that I was miserable because of the language barrier and I think the gyno, though being kind of nice (from what I could tell), was a bit trigger-happy in regards to recommending surgery.. basically, the baby was in the breech position on the ultrasound, and she mentioned a c-section.. which is WAY too early to start worrying about the baby's position and talking about c-sections!
The language barrier problem is that I'm an American living in Germany, and everyone at the clinic (or whatever it's called) do not speak ANY English, and I am a beginner with German (my fiance is German, born and raised... and now bred, LOL! And, predictably, is a fluent German speaker.. English is his second language). Sometimes, I can understand simple sentances, and I can understand parts of others.. but I don't understand enough to get any idea of the discussion's direction, nor even what is being discussed... it's mostly "Blah, blah, blah" to me still.
As for the gender, Rofu, my fiance, and I have decided and agreed that we want to wait until the baby comes out. However, for weeks now I've been feeling like it's a girl (and all the silly online quizzes and gender charts agree). ^.^ I've had dreams about it being a boy as often as I've dreampt about the baby being a girl.
I don't have any questions right now... just want to say that I LOVE being pregnant, despite the discomforts. ^.^
I'm hoping for a natural birth without drugs (or tools).

Kristall Fox: That's awesome that you want to go natural. That's what I did with my daughter and what I plan on with this one. The worst part was when I tore.

Sorry I haven't been here much, but all the Holiday activity is wearing me out pretty bad. I didn't realize how much fun wearying the holidays can be when you're pregnant. sweatdrop
