Ruokei hesitated, cheeks warming as he looks down at his wrist for a moment before offering it slowly to Hitsuga. He was horribly, horribly curious about the way the enticing scent crept toward him through the air, and desire to know more held him in place.

As Ruokei offers his wrist, Hitsuga gently touches the stopper over it, depositing a tiny-but-enough amount of the bottle's fragrance on his skin.
Now if Ruokei would rub that wrist with his other, that should be fine. He says, refastening the bottle with a smile. This is how it is worn, he explains. On the wrists, on the neck, but only in small amounts. Just enough for the scent to whisper its name.
Too much, and....well, even the loveliest of perfume could make others' eyes water. sweatdrop

Ruokei twitches just a bit when the stopper touched his wrist, not having expected the move at all. But he didn't pull away, until Hitsuga told him to rub his wrists together, and then he did so, not really understanding why he'd need to.
'For the scent to whisper its name'... the words made him shiver just a little, his mind seizing on them and teasing at the back of his brain. There was something there for him to play with, maybe... and even as the thought occurred, it flashed back out of his mind, letting just the phrase itself linger.
He lifted one wrist toward his face, sniffing the air near it before offering Hitsuga a delighted smile.
Ruokei smells pretty!

The child's delight is mirrored in Hitsuga's own. Something in Ruokei's reaction and the small flurry of thoughts that flitter just out of reach, seems to suggest that the boy may appreciate the fragrance on a deeper level than simply a "pretty smell".
He contemplates him a moment, and then the bottle in his hands.
And then presents the perfume to Ruokei, small goading projections urging the young one to accept the gift.
One can't properly appreciate something without having some of their own, yes? 3nodding

At that, Ruokei's smile died, and he blinked, taking the bottle in very cautious hands as he looked up at Hitsuga with wide eyes. A gift... for him? But... he started, even as he held the bottle close to his chest, as though it contained the most precious of liquids within. And perhaps for him, it did.
As he dithered and stammered, Sailien took the opportunity to stretch, padding out of the shadows. Yes... he'd watched it all, and he liked what he was seeing just fine. Looking between the two porcelain for a moment, he finally sat down on his haunches.
Sailien thinks that Ruokei should accept the gift, he projected, careful to speak in the language his bond with Ruokei had taught him. And he thinks that perhaps Ruokei should consider buying a gift for Mireille here, too.
It was only Ruokei's utter terror of dropping the bottle that kept him from jumping.

Where Ruokei doesn't jump, Hitsuga jolts enough for the both of them as he turns to stare at Sailien, the odd creature seeming to have come from nowhere. ....and one that could speak as they could...?
Collecting his scattered wits, its nearly enough for him to find it funny. All of the humans and the other strange people in this world who have looked at him oddly for his mindspeech, and yet there are animals who grasp it just fine...
He does not laugh, though. He, instead, draws himself back to his full height, projecting a polite greeting to the zurai pup.
Hitsuga would, then, assume this was the friend Young Master Ruokei had been seeking? sweatdrop

Ruokei's cheeks were as red as a sunset sky, and he nodded awkwardly, looking back at Sailien in unhappiness before turning back to Hitsuga.
Ruokei is so sorry that Sailien intruded. Sailien doesn't always like to do what's proper.
He clutched the bottle a little tighter in hesitation before holding it a bit toward Hitsuga.
If Hitsuga's angry....?

Oh, no. No no, Hitsuga is not angry....! Reassurance and apology weigh heavy on the projection as he, too, blushes, having not meant to give such an impression.
A bit startled, perhaps, yes. But Sailien has done no harm. If not for the intrusion, he and Baikou may never have known Ruokei, and that's something, yes...?

Calmed by Hitsuga's reassurances, Ruokei nodded slowly, drawing the bottle back to himself.
If not for Sailien, Ruokei wouldn't have ever learned anything about perfume, the porcelain added. Ruokei likes Hitsuga's perfumes.
Sailien, watching the two stumble over themselves to reassure each other, just smirked, giving a faint whuff that was his version of a laugh before padding to sit just on Ruokei's foot. His slight weight didn't hurt the boy, but it was very clear that to Sailien, Ruokei was his claim.

Indeed! And new friends are always a joy to make.
Baikou pokes her head in from the kitchen. Now, "Would you like to join us for a little lunch-- ooh," says she, regarding the unfamiliar creature with surprise and admiration. And who is this handsome gentleman...?

Sailien drew himself up to his full (relatively insignificant) height, chest puffed out a bit as he got up to pad toward Baikou. Now here... HERE was someone who appreciated the finer things, he decided, making the procession as grand a walk as he could manage...
...right up until he tripped over his tail, sending him tumbling head over haunches into the hem of Baikou's skirt.
Ruokei watched, giggling a bit as Sailien's grand 'entrance' was spoiled by his own pride, and he carefully set the bottle he held down on the table before moving to check, wanting to be certain that Sailien was okay.
Sailien, for his part, was silent for a long moment before saying, very clearly, Sailien MEANT to do that. stare

Teeth sinking into his lip, knowing laughing at such a thing would be impolite at best, Hitsuga tries to keep his composure.
Is--is Sailien all ri-ight...? whee he manages to ask, the projection a bit wavery with mirth that has a tight chokehold being kept on it.

Baikou gives a little mental yelp of surprise as Sailien almost-collides with her, her hand moving to her chest as if to hold back the heartbeat that has quickened there.
After she has recovered from the start, she smiles, and sends gentle thoughts towards the zurui. Is he all right?
And then, too all three of the lovely gentlemen in the room: "So? Who would like some soup?"

Ruokei drew Sailien up into his arms, cuddling the zurui for a moment before rising to nod to Baikou shyly. He hesitated over the words, not quite sure if he had the right pronunciation, but with Sailien's careful tutoring, he'd been trying to get a bit better at the speaking aloud thing. "Yes, please," was all he said, blushing a bit as he tried.
Sailien huffed for a moment, then sniffed the air before offering his own agreement. "The soup smells good."

It's nothing special, he's afraid, only some vegetable soup as he hadn't wanted to waste any groceries. But Ruokei and Sailien are, certainly, welcome to join them. 3nodding
If Ruokei is interested in knowing others in the immediate area for the next time he visits, Master Setsushi, just across the street, makes very good udon.
