It was surprising to see how fast Sylar moved to both catch up with her and save her in the clumsy stumble. It awed her at his gentle actions and the amount of care he had showed. With much appreciation lighting up her bubbly features, she edged closer to him in their walk, following his brave leadership.

There was something about his sentence that saddened her even though it really was for the best they both got out of danger, hell he was doing all this for her! He'd gone so far out of his way to make sure she was safe and was more concerned for her safety than his own. He never had to show himself, or whisper to her in an attempt to scare her for the good of it all - but he had. It was sad because what if after this journey ended and they went their seperate ways, never saw each other again!? That couldn't happen.. There was a moment where Neria thought her own heart crippled, squeezed so tight there was no energy left for even a single breath.

He looked deep in thought, it was rude to stare but, after he had taken the lead once again she couldn't stop. Watching how he walked and how the misty wings upon his back combined with the air in foggy ripples. His eyes and those beautiful black and red bangs that feathered his face. He was truly handsome especially with the dim cyan glow dappling the detailed tribal like markings he wore.

Out of the blue, it became clear what was on the stallions mind. "What is love?" He asked, with some hesitation. Neria twitched and took a pause in their walk, stepping back a moment;completely taken by surprise! With a small stammer, she quickly walked a few paces to catch up. "W-well..." the equally confused mare stammered. "Its... I presume, from the way my parents act. That its where you could never imagine life without that someone special! Where whenever you see them they make you smile with a glow no one else can! Like, a fairytale." She took a moment to breath in deep, she must of sounded so silly or like a kid referring to parents and to stories. "With that person is the only one you feel you could have a happy ending with, no matter how bad things get or how dull the day is." She twisted her head up to the tree tops, spying a single white glistening star in the midnight blue.

Was he pondering..? Nah, all these questions about special people and love, he was just curious.. Yeah that was it. Hed never had chance to experience anything like it or hear about it being in the forest. If their was a chance though, she wished more than anything that an angel would help guide him, with courage to take that chance.

"You keep asking me about my opinions on love and happiness but, I'd like to know what you think. I really do want to get to know more about you. You've done soooo much for me already hehe, so a little bit of curiosity wont hurt, right?" with a grateful smile she out stretched her neck slowly and softly nuzzled his cheek.

Sylar raised an eyebrow in confusion when she stepped back at his question. Was it really so rediculous? He had never heard of this thing- love- before in his life. But then how could he have? He could never remember having a family. No mother to care for him, or a father to protect him. This darkness that surrounded them was what he grew up knowing. In times, it was what protected him, giving him camoflage from the other more twisted souls that lived in it. It had helped him survive at times. But what he felt for it wasn't love- no. It was like a companion that he couldn't ever trust. One moment it could be covering his back, the next opening his blindspot to a predator. It gave, and it took.
As she spoke, he listened, like always. He didn't know how her parents acted around each other, since he couldn't remember any of his own. It quickly became more clear to him as she went on describing it. Another word stood out to him that he didn't recognize, but he chose to save it for later. He was probably already asking her more questions than she was used to.
Again, parts of the 'love' that she explained to him, he could relate to with the feelings that he had been experiencing in the short time since he had met her. Surely that couldn't mean that he was in love with her?
But yet, when she gently nuzzled his cheek, his heart fluttered just so, and he couldn't help but to think that he didn't ever want that to go away.

"From how you described it, I-" Sylar paused, his shoulders tensing visibly as he started walking again.

He didn't know why, but he just couldn't brush off the suspicion that something was watching them. 'We're not too far away from the edge of this forest. Why would something wait this long to strike?' He made sure that Neria was still keeping up with him before taking the time to really look around them. He was sure that she was shocked by his sudden lack of response but it just wasn't the time for this.

Only to support his suspicions of being watched, Sylar heard slight rusling of the brush that surrounded the trail they were walking on. 'Thats not the wind,' He thought, hauntingly. Sylar's red eyes narrowed into a glare. How long had this thing been following them? His instincts to run was starting to kick in as his footfalls fell quicker. He had to get her to safety before the creature chose to attack. Sylar nickered quietly to Neria, nodding his head for her to speed up and go ahead of him. Hopeing that she'd gotten his almost silent message to keep going forward, Sylar slowed till she had reached his side, then came to a complete stop. The only sound he could hear was the soft trot of Neria's hooves upon the hardened trail.
His ears fell back when he heard a twig snap just to his left. The worst was about to happen.

"Neria-" Sylar yelled just as a huge black blur pounced out of the brush and onto Sylar, white fangs flashing as it took Sylar down.
"Run!!" Sylar roared, feeling the creature bite into his shoulder. As it's sharp fangs sank into his coat, he struggled, kicking out his legs to throw the monster off balance. A swift hoof to the leg of the creature threw it off guard, giving Sylar a chance to get back on his feet. Once up he quickly backed up to get a clear look at the attacker.
It had glowing yellow eyes, similar but yet different from his own red ones. He could feel the bloodlust radiating from them. The thick furry pelt that draped over the creature's back confirmed his worries. It was a Skinwalker.
It didn't speak as Sylar backed up. His shoulder was throbbing with pain, but Sylar ignored it as best as he could. He didn't have time to worry about his wounds. He couldn't remove his eyes from the Skinwalker, but he needed to make sure that Neria was safe. "Neria?" he spoke, pausing when the Skinwalker let out a low growl. Had she ran like he told her to?

(Don't fret, the lovin talk will come up again later. ;D <3 )

Neria waited at his lack of response, the thought 'Go on, go on' running through her mind as she felt the suspence start tingling inside her, her heart racing wondering what more he had to say. Then like the wind his words was stolen and drifted back to silence. Something was distracting him and making him tense. He moved a lot quicker all of a sudden and when he motioned for her to quicken the pace, which she didn't catch onto instantly she waited then realized she needed to keep up with him. So, her trot became an even pace like long pixie leaps across the flooring until he had made it clear she should pass him. 'What does he want me to doooo?' she wondered. She had no idea where to go, then it was clear as the huge creature pounced him and in a flash Sylar was on the floor struggling under the attackers pressure.

"NO SYLAR!" She screamed, ears falling back and headwings fluttering upwards in alert. For the first time she was truly afraid. Not for herself but the thought of losing -him- oddly made her want to choke over the air and let tears stream down her pearly coat. She reared up and whinnied in panic to warn the skinwalker but as its amber glare shot towards her and Sylar's voice told her to run confusion froze all actions. What should she do, she was being told to run but what if this sight was the last she saw of him? she would never be able to forgive herself. Ever. Tears bubbled up to her eyes and she shook her head. "I can't! I can't leave you! I don't want to lose you not now!"

Her memories came back in a flash at how, you had to believe in the ones you care for. Pray for them. Knowing if she stayed she would only get in the way. "I believe in you..." She gulped, whispering as she took one last longing look into his red glowing eyes, then spun around with her two front hooves and took off back into the forest. Moiture flooding her face and droplets hitting the ground with deep desperation with every step. He was all she could think of, with every stumble, every leap and past every shadow. Nothing scared the mare more than the thought of losing this one stallion who was once a stranger now he appeared to be growing into something more...

"I promise, I'll come back for you!"

"You have to leave," Sylar choked out, blood dripping in a constant flow down his front leg. He wouldn't be able to fight knowing that she was at risk of the Skinwalker turning it's attention towards her once he was weakened. Hearing her words before she ran gave him hope.
She believes in me..., Sylar thought, stepping towards the dangerous beast before him. He had to do this, for her. The thought of letting her down, pained him even more then the open wound on his shoulder. "I won't let you down," Sylar mumbled to himself before charging the Skinwalker.

Skinwalkers were stronger than normal Soquili, but Sylar wasn't exactly 'normal'. He wasn't necessarily stronger than the norm, but his mutations provided him a few other advantages.
Throwing his weight against the Skinwalker's front, flinching when it took another chance to bite into him, this time grazing his neck with it's fangs, Sylar threw it off balance. He fell with the Skinwalker to the ground, both landing with a thud. Sylar strugged to be the first up, the skinwalker catching his back leg in its maw once he found his feet. Sylar yelled out hoarsly, kicking back with his other hoof, satisfied when he heard a solid thump when it came in contact with the beast's face.
The Skinwalker let to with a yelp, struggling to get to its own feet, blood dripping from the gaping scratch that Sylar's hoof made on it's face.
Before the Skinwalker could get all the way to it's feet, Sylar's shadowy wings streatched out, wrapping themselves around the base of his body. Stepping back, he settled into the darkness that the trees offered him. He closed his eyes, completely hiding in the darkness. He continued stepping away from the wounded beast, listening for any slight motions from it that would hint that it found where he was hiding. He knew that it could eventually find him using it's sense of smell to track his hiding place down, so he knew that he had to start to move.
Continueing to creep back slowly, so not to raise his racing heart into beating faster, Sylar moved farther and farther away. After a few moments of hearing absolutely nothing, he opened his eyes.
Nothing... Did I really escape? A shiver went down Sylar's spine from the coolness of the air. He was losing too much blood. With the threat of the Skinwalker still near, Sylar turned his back and started heading in the direction that Neria ran off in. She should have reached the edge of the forest by now. As he walked, with alot of effort and energy, he tied his long scarf around his back leg to cut off surculation. The bleeding from that area slowed, but his larger wounds on his neck and shoulder continued to bleedout.
Sylar's eyes started to droop, as he suddenly tumbled off path. His legs gave out beneath him and he fell to the ground. His eyes rolled up into his head as he started to give into the darkness. There, he wouldn't feel the pain of his wounds. It offered him solace, peace. He wouldn't hurt there.

He had failed her. She had believed in him, that he could survive and find her. A sad smile lifted his lips. Neria had given him a reason to fight, to live. If this lead to his death, he knew that he wouldn't regret it. Giving his own life for Neria's would be worth it.
Sylar wished with all of his might that he could somehow survive. He would give anything to be able to see her again. When nothing happened, Sylar laughed, blood dripping from his mouth onto the patch of grass beneath his head. Who would ever grant a lonely soul like him such a wish? A single tear fell from his closed eyes. At least he had gotten to experience the feeling that she had told him about, taught him of, once before he died. It was almost bittersweet, this darkness. Caughing to get the blood from his throat, Sylar finally gave into the darkness that he was born from, a smile still on his bloodspattered lips.
The last thought that flew through his head was an appology.
I'm sorry, Neria. I love you.

It felt like an eternity, with the cackling hisses from the horrid beast that had latched onto Sylar like a death note sounding in the background, running from the danger, the sight of a dark prince risking his life to save an innocent Alicorn. How innocent was she? Leaving that poor stallion behind without knowing whether he would survive or not. He had told her to run and she had listened and set off on command but, his life meant more to her than her safety even if she was grateful for his actions. It must have been half an hour that had passed and throgh panting and the rough scratching that burned in her throat she came to a stop, tired and out of breath. In alarm she glanced back to the forest now at it's edge, trying to spy a glowing red aura or a white bone tribal markings but there was nothing. Just a cold aura with a suffocating silence.

She wished so much with her heart that he was still alive, searching her out in the darkness, for the blue glow to catch his eye and to come whispering back in her ear telling her she wasn't allowed to be there, didn't belong. She so wished it just to hear his voice. Her eyes took to the ground and her heart throbbed lifting the silence whilst her tears hit the ground and dampened the soil beneath. "I w-want you to be alive, safe. Away from that beast..." She sniffled and shook her head. What good was standing around going to do? But she was scared. Very scared.

There are some times in life that make your life worth living, that signal the points that make a history, that make your story and this was one of them. She straightened up with a look of determination set into the darkness. If he hadn't found her, then it was time she went back and looked for him. With a deep breath Neria took back off into the forest, flicking every bush with the lion like tail and letting the glow from her horn seek out the stallion within every patch of darkness. There was no way she was giving up! No way if there was a chance of him still being alive was she going to let him die. 'I...' She thought, as the taunting shadows howled in the wind and the animals twittered all around. 'I love you.'

The mare halted and at last there he was. Sylar was laid in a puddle of blood and his wounds were deep. He didn't look like he had much time left... Neria felt glum, lifeless and empty. Here was her savouir, unconcious amost at his end and there was nothing she could do about it. She was useless but she wanted to try, like Sylar had. Made the most out of what he had, and that was very little compared to the fangs and the claws of a Skinwalker. She walked over and lowered next to the dying figure, the sticky liquid now staining the pearly white coat. She rested her head down ontop of his and let the thoughts drift through the silence. The memories of their short lived meeting. There was more left for him, to see, to learn of and it wasn't about to end here, in the darkness; the only thing he had ever known till now.

"I won't let you die...Trust me." She whispered, hoping he could hear her calm voice. Jo had taught her some healing skills but with the small attention span, they were no where near brilliant. It was possible that they could help him to a certain extent... If there was a chance of his survival, it was a chance she was willing to take. Neria closed her eyes and focused hard on the horn ontop of her head, lifting it and placed the tip at the edge of his wound, the glow seeping out and into the wound itself. 'Come on... Come on!' she pleaded and as the desperation sunk deeper, more tears shed as reality was coming clear to her. He could of already been gone.

It felt as though he was falling. Slowly, the sensation flickered on and off until it settled. He felt ground beneath him, but that couldn't be right. Wasn't there supposed to be a bright light when one died? Only for heavenly beings, Sylar reminded himself. He was far from pure. Not even saving an Angel could have saved him. Neria...
Memories of their too short time together flickered quickly around him. Sylar wondered what would happen to her now that he was gone? She would go on living, happily, he hoped. It wouldn't be long till she moved on, forgetting about the lonely soul that risked it's life to ensure her own. A sadness twisted his heart, confusing him. How could he still feel such pain in the afterlife? He didn't think that he would ever be afraid of being forgotten- of all things.
"I won't let you die...Trust me."
The words echo'd in his silence. That was her voice. "Neria?" Doubling over, the twisted pain in his heart didn't faid but instead increased. Why? Sylar coughed, as the pain grew. Crying out, he struggled, why did it hurt so much?
Suddenly, his eyes flew open, he took a large breath of air, and he was back.
What?
Pain seered through him, his limbs aching. Breathing heavily, he tried moving, but soon found it to be futile.
It took a few moments for his vision to come back to him. The blackness was chased away by a bright cyan light. And from that light, appeared his Angel. "Ner- Neria," Sylar coughed, hardly believing the sight before him. What was this? Is it real?
The pain was evidence that yes, it was. But she wouldn't have come back for him, would she? Hadn't he told her to leave?
He noticed that blood was staining her beautiful white coat, and mentally frowned. That wasn't hers, was it? She did get away, right?
Her horn was glowing so brightly, it almost blinded him. What was happening? Soon, the pain of his wounds seemed to dull. Uni's can heal, Sylar thought, remembering back.
Taking a raged breath, Sylar spoke, his voice hoarse "You came back?"
Struggling, Sylar managed to get himself up on his side to look down at his wounds. She had stopped the bleeding, and his wounds seemed to have scabbed. The less life threatening gash on his leg continued to bleed, though not in the heavy flow that the other gashes bled. Was there still a chance that he'd live? The thought flickered in Sylar's mind, but he knew better than to get his hopes up. These wounds almost killed him and if he wasn't careful, they could reopen and finish the job.

Neria's eyes lit up with a spark brighter than she could have ever held in them. Sylar was in them, he was the spark, the star and she looked shocked as he asked whether she came and as she was cuddled around him, it was obvious she had. She was there healing his wounds with her less then amazing skills but they have saved more loss of blood and he had come around. She had helped. The life of Sylar was all that mattered to her and tears welled up in her dark but yet bright sockets and her horned dulled to a dim lit glow, her healing abilities had drained her somewhat and she allowd her head to rest next to his and rub against his cheek.

"I did." She replied quietly, the desperation clear in her voice yet it was restrained. "I-I wanted to save you and help you like you had risked your life for me. I..." She started. Neria had never really been too forward but knowing that she could of lost him and not had the chance to get to know him more scared her and she allowed her heart to poor onto her prince.

"I want to be with you. I want to be able to take care of you and keep you alive. I never want to see you this hurt ever again. I, I think I love you Sylar and I don't want someone so important to me to fade away, or loose sight ever."
She teared, cuddling closer to him. "I mean it. Never..." She closed her eyes, taking in his growing warmth and felt eased by the bangs of his fringe as they tickled her cheeks.

Love. It was something unimaginably beautiful. Sylar couldn't have ever dreamed of it feeling like this. The warmth that spread throughout his chest, making his heart pound hard enough for him to worry that it might just break out of his skin. That's what this feeling was. The need to protect her, to guide Neria onto the right path. The way he risked his life without hesitation. Sylar knew that he would do it again without a second thought. She was his reason now. He would protect her, and in return, he knew that she could chase away his fears. Loneliness, Darkness. She already demolished both of them. Neria had taken him from his darkness, and stayed with him when he needed it most.
Neria's words touched him. They cleansed him of everything that was wrong, and brought him to a all new high. She was his chance at a different life. She was his chance at love.
Sylar closed his eyes as he searched for the words to complete them. "Thank you," Sylar breathed out.
It wasn't what he was trying to say, but she needed to know just how grateful he was for her to be in his life. "And..." Sylar paused, moving to try and raise himself to his hooves. With a grunt and a push, he made it. His legs wobbled underneath him uncertainty. He could see the flash of worry that crossed her eyes when he stood. Taking a step closer to her, Sylar rested his head against Neria's. His mouth was close to her ear as he whispered, "And, I couldn't think of a better place to spend life, than at your side. As long as you keep me, I will never let anything harm you. You gave me a reason, Neria. One that I never want to let go." Sylar inhaled, breathing her in. Even with all that they had been through tonight, she still smelled sweet. He buried his nose into her soft mane. "Neria," Sylar continued, pulling away to look at her.
Her eyes were still sparkling even though she was exhausted. He hoped that that never changed. "I think that I love you too. You are my light, Neria." Sylar whispered, afraid that speaking any louder would change the air that surrounded them.
