Thali was ready to take Reiya in an instant. "I should have said something.." She muttered guiltily. "She doesn't like strangers.. I didn't know she would do that. I'm sorry, Jaella." The elf tried to cheer the girl up by offering her one of the cupcakes she'd brought. Not really the best plan--it was obvious she had little experience with teenagers (besides herself).
Reiya gave Jaella an apologetic look. "Sowwy." She said. "I sowwy. No meanie--" She frowned. "I no mean."

Jaella sniffled, shaking her head at the cupcake. She'd brought those for them, not for her. "'S....'S okay." the girl said, wiping at her eyes. She didn't want to cry in front of the adults; big girls didn't cry over little things like a bite.
The teen turned her big blue eyes towards baby. "'S okay..." she murmured softly. "Sorry....you're not a meanie..." Okay, she was lying on that one, but she wanted the baby to smile.

Thali frowned slightly, and gave the teenager a hug on impulse. Then she looked at Ben, and gave him a glare that clearly meant, 'She got that from your side of the family!'. Ben's only response was a frown. In his opinion, Reiya was quite the average infant--despite being elven and having a strong ability for language. And no, biting hadn't come from his side.
Reiya reached her hand out to Jaella. "I sowwy. I no mean to huwt."

Jaella blinked at the hug, not sure how to respond. She then looked to the infant, gently taking her hand. "It's okay, Rei-Rei." she said, smiling a little. And like that, the baby was forgiven. In a few minutes, the teen would probably forget that she was ever even crying. "Promise you won't bite again?" she asked, wanting to know before she tried holding the child again.

Reiya nodded at Jaella, as well as an infant her age could. "Pwomise." She said, reaching for the older girl. Thali handed the infant to the teen carefully, and gave Reiya a warning look. It was wasted--the infant had no plans to harm Jae.
Sammi, in the meantime, was informing her father that she could "Buwn" him if she really wanted to. Not exactly the kind of thing you'd be wanting a baby to say.

Jaella carefully and cautious took the infant again, holding her gently. "That's better...." she murmured; no biting was definitely an improvement. She offered a small smile to Reiya, then looked to Sammi. "It's not nice to burn people, you know." she said, her smile taking some of the seriousness out of her tone.

Reiya leaned against Jaella, and seemed to be drifting to sleep. Her thumb was in her mouth, and her eyes were half closed. No wonder she was being nice! She was falling asleep.
Sammi gave her 'Kitty' an innocent smile. "I no buwn ooo." She told Jaella matter-of-factly. "I buwn 'im wen he bad." Obviously, she'd just grasped the concept of punishment, and rather thought that that meant children could punish their parents too.

Jaella smiled, suppressing a squee. Aww, adorable sleepy baby! She held the smaller one close, tucking the baby's head right under her chin. Hey, this stuff wasn't as hard as people made it out to be. She looked to Sammi, shaking her head. "You don't burn parents, silly." she said, giggling lightly. "They can't help it when their bad."

Reiya leaned into Jaella, and shut her eyes lightly. Soft breathing sounds could be heard--the baby had fallen asleep. Her hand fell away from her mouth, and with the other arm, she clung to the teenager, as if to make sure she wasn't put down.
Sammi looked confused. "Why?" She asked, with a tilt of her head. "Why? Why no buwn wen bad? If me bad--he yell. If he bad, I buwn, den yell." She explained as well as she could.

Jaella smiled slightly at the little baby she was holding. The little one was so cute! Putting her down was the last thing on the girl's mind. She looked over to Sammi, shaking her head. "Burning hurts people. Yelling doesn't. So, you shouldn't burn your daddy because it hurts him." She said, nodding as wisely as she cool. She then giggled as a thought hit her; she was just like Yoda, giving out sagely advice! (( In her opinion. ))

Sammi made no response, unless you counted a loud, and rather long raspberry. Which she did. She didn't like the girl's advice, who was she to tell her what to do? It was clear that the infant had some of her mother's stubbornness. "Wen Rei mad--she make BIG--" She stressed the word big, as if it was the most important point on Gaia. "Big couwds, an den, watew 'ome out!"

A frown spread across Jaella's face. Then, like the mature teen she was, she blew a raspberry right back at the baby. She then blinked, listening. "She makes it rain?" she asked, trying her best to understand the younger one's explaination.

Sammi blinked at the teen, tilted her head for a moment, before deciding the teen had just challenged her to a raspberry contest. So, with the determination she'd gotten from her father, and the stubbornness from her mother, she stuck her tongue out and blew an even longer one.
Thali interrupted. "She makes it rain." She agreed. "And snow--and hail, and everything else that comes with weather." She frowned slightly. "I don't know if she didn't cause the lightening storm last night--that was frightening. It was right over our house."

Jaella was about to answer the adult, but Sammi caught her attention. She scrunched her face up and let loose the longest raspberry she could. "How do you like them apples, Sammi?" she said, grinning. She was sure she won. After all, how could an infant possibly beat her?
Of course, she'd forgotten about the sleeping infant in her arms.

Sammi frowned. She couldn't be beaten. Being an infant with such determination and stubbornness as she possessed--she would win, or cry. And right now, she seemed to be losing. She sniffled, and rubbed her eyes with her hands.
Reiya whined in her sleep. "Ennnnh." She muttered, taking hold of Jaella's hair, and closing her fist on it. Then she was silent.
