Ah see, that is what I thought you were going to say. I did try to do that once, and I just couldn't. So I guess I am going with the inhumane way to do it. I think the only support I have on my side of feeding live prey is, that is what would/ should be the actions in the wild. Provided that mouse would be considered the one he choose in the wild. I guess it is just kinda hypothetical. ^^;

Yeah I know about that. Which is why I always watch my snake until he killed it. Then I exit the room, unless it is a larger mouse and I am afraid of his ability to swallow it, then Ill stay and make sure everything is ok.

CornSnakeChick i have heard of some mice attack the snake from inside. its rarer but it has happenned. I work at a vet clinic and their was this one day when some one brought in a mangrove snake that got injured in its throat from a mouse it was swolloing. They have rear fangs and have light venom so they invenominat their pray. While the mouse was in the snakes mouth it bit the intrence of the snakes throat and really damaged it.

My snake is a constrictor. His prey is dead before he swallows it. I wouldn't doubt that some younger constrictors don't kill all the way but he has no trouble, been doing it for a few years.

Yume Keraun My snake is a constrictor. His prey is dead before he swallows it. I wouldn't doubt that some younger constrictors don't kill all the way but he has no trouble, been doing it for a few years. The veterinarian I work with works alor with reptiles and he told me constrictors rarley have those kinds of problems since they do a good job of killing their food. The venomous ones and other snakes that emobolize their prey have it happen the most.

Even if them waiting for it to die [with venomous snakes] I can still see it being those it would happen to more often. We already established that it is RARE to begin with :3 So a very hungry venomous snake that hasn't eaten in a month or so may be so thrilled to have food that he doesn't want to wait, or in an area that is highly competitive for food sources, may feel liek another snake may snatch it by leaving it to die frist.

CornSnakeChick acutally venemous snakes usually strike and wait for it to die before eating it. Your right, but sometimes they bite it with the head facing straight in their mouth and even tho the snakes enjecting venom it can still bite in the process. I've ben working at the vet clinic for about a year and a half and in that time onley one snake came in with a probelm like that and it wasent a very sieress case.

The one I work at is isent onley for reaptiles, the veterinarian is just really good at working on them. Most of the time we just treat every day animals like dogs and cats, but their will be a day when all we get is reptiles and those are the days I like.

He is heterozygous, I do know the difference between het. and homozygous.. If I breed him to a normal female, it is very slim to none that Ill produce piebalds. If I breed his offspring to him I will produce a few pieds. If I breed him to another 100% I will get pieds. If I breed to a 50% het I may get pieds. A pretty penny indeed, but my bf split the cost as a Christmas present. I wish it was a pied but those are like $1,000 a piece.
