((Yeah, I was thinking about shortening things up...haha. It was getting hard to reply! xd This is some first meeting, ne? hahahaha.))
Recovering quickly from the shock of hearing about her origins, Rhea perked up a bit. She had been bothered by the fact simply because she thought she was like a normal kid. She didn't remember her birth from the Tome at all, and it was as if she had blocked out all memories from before her first talk with Ning, the Fandangle. After reading so many books about childbirth and families, Rhea thought that was where she had come from too. She knew very little about magic, so it hadn't even occurred to her that she could have been born from magical means. But the facts of her birth were quickly accepted, and she smiled widely, turning back to Jiro.
"True. I shall form my own opinion of Khia. He sounds interesting at least," she said, standing up a little bit straighter. "I've never met a shapeshifter..."
It was then that Rhea felt truly awkward. It was as if she was getting a lecture from the boy, who wasn't all that much older than she was. She didn't like the oncoming situation one bit....It was time to change things around, hopefully for the better.
"Hey, whoa! I was speaking about people in general, not about you. I'm sorry if it was interpreted that way. Maybe I should bite my tongue. Nothing seems to be going well for me today..." She picked up the hem of her dress, squeezing it tightly in one hand, feeling nervous energy flow through her body. She didn't want to irritate Jiro anymore, and she was definitely getting uncomfortable vibes from him. It already seemed like he hated her, but she knew he was probably just annoyed. He wouldn't want to train her if she got on his nerves, she knew that. But perhaps it was too late already?
So, she fell (mostly) silent, and attempted to listen to anything he may say from that point on. She was tired of getting harsh verbal stings from him...It was too much for a first meeting, and though Rhea was headstrong and verbal about her feelings, she knew that good relations were necessary. Giving a slight bow to Jiro, she quietly spoke up. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be a pest to you."
"Well, Rhea has been quite a handful so far too, but she's a good companion. She keeps my mind active at least. There's never a question unanswered in my house anymore!" Elysia hadn't thought that Rhea's origins would be upsetting to her, but for some reason, they were. All of Elysia's other magical children had been perfectly fine with their creation, and had come into the world happy to be there. But Elysia knew that Rhea was too thoughtful to just accept her origins. The little girl already knew too much of the world, and it affected her more deeply. "She'll be okay," she said to the tall man, looking over at Rhea. "She just knows too much..."

((haha indeed))
"There's nothing wrong with meeting new people. Don't think about it as what they are, but who they are.. I mean, it would be unfavorable to make friends with someone just because they're a shapeshifter." Jiro didn't mean to sound like he was lecturing, but sometimes, with how he worded things, that was how it sounded. His mind wasn't a child's mind, nor was his way of thinking. But there were various reasons behind that. But he wouldn't bother ever explaining that aspect of himself to anyone else. As far as he was concerned, it was none of their business. And just because he looked smaller than most, didn't mean that he didn't know more than someone his age should know.
His eyes darkened a bit at her explanation of her comment, not fooled in the least about it, but he didn't wish to think about it anymore so he left it alone. Giving a little shrug, he nodded. "If you say so." It wasn't hard to annoy Jiro, truly. His patience towards another was something that had to be earned and that took time. It took him a long while to learn patience towards Akiya and the two, in the beginning, were always fighting. His nose shifted a bit before he looked away for a second. Her scent was shifting again and it was bothersome. But he had been extra moody anyway for some reason so it was more from that then her actual words, though they still had an affect on him.
Another shrug was given as he shook his head. "Don't worry about it. I'm already over it. So I suppose the next thing I need to know is what weapon you want to start with?"
"So does he. He has a lot of issues and things he doesn't talk about going on with him... but he's rather smart for a chibi." That was the nickname he and Syrie gave him. They just called him Chibi and it took a long while before Jiro accepted it and didn't try to jab out their eyes with his chopsticks everytime he heard it. "I'm sure she'll be fine. I hope she's just patient with Jiro. It takes him time to deal with people, really."

Again, Rhea felt slighed when Jiro took her words to mean something entirely beyond what she'd meant. But now that she was getting used to it, she'd learn to revise her words so that no hidden meaning could be found in any of them. She just wanted to meet Khia...his being a shapeshifter was just a fact that interested her. She'd of course only make friends with those she liked...Those she deemed worthy of friendship. But she was interested in simply meeting all of those like her, who had come from the Tome. She was sure they were all quite different, and she was curious about them all.
"But of course," she said, nodding. "I'm just interested in meeting everyone who has come from the Tome. I don't necessarily have to be friends with all of them, but I'm quite curious about the rest of us," she said, referring to the other Tales. "It is what's inside that counts," she continued. "How else will I become friends with people if I don't get a chance to meet them, or know what their personality is like?" Hopefully she didn't stumble across her words too horribly this time.
Rhea just nodded as he accepted her comment...but she knew full well that he was still irritated. She could see it in his eyes, and she dared not cross him again this time around. It wasn't worth it for her to bicker with him. He didn't care what she thought anyway, she figured, thinking about how he had taken her words. Maybe he was just touchy, she thought, curious about the testy little boy standing in front of her. Somehow she'd have to learn which buttons not to push...
"Okay. We just met anyway. I feel bad that we've gotten off to such a bad start...Can we start fresh?" she asked, hoping that he'd agree.
And to answer his weapons question, she continued: "Well..." she said, "In the dream...I'm holding a big sword...I think that's probably what I'm meant to learn to use. I don't know..." Her voice drifted off as she realized she was sounding silly. "Swords. I think I'd like to learn how to swordfight." She nodded at Jiro, hoping this would be a good choice. It was the choice she felt deep down in her stomach, and she hoped it was the right one.
"He seems quite intelligent. And quite a rival for Rhea, from the looks of it! I hope they can get along," she said, watching the strained discourse between the two. It was like watching two college-educated adults go at it verbally! "Chibi eh? Do you call him that?" she giggled softly, not wanting to draw attention to Jiro's nickname. "And for the question I should really ask: And does he like it?"
She paused, glancing back at the pair of children, and then back to Akiya. "I hope she's patient too...And I hope he's more than patient with her. Otherwise, we might just have a problem on our hands." She didn't look worried, but this had been the roughest meeting of any Tale so far. All the rest had been quite friendly. Somehow, Rhea had just gotten on Jiro's bad side immediately, and Elysia hoped this could be fixed. Kids have a tendency to forgive easily, she thought to herself, hoping it'd be the same between these two.
((Well crap. I'm not doing too good a job of shortening things...Next post...next post. whee ))

After a bit, he nodded in agreement. "It's all about personal perspection anyway. So how it goes is how it goes." He took out a chopstick from his hair and spun it around between his fingers. it was a trick he did often when he was thinking or trying not to think.. one or the other. "I'm sure you'll get along with the others. Especially Viddy.. she gets along with everyone." That made him nod again because it was true. There was no one that girl couldn't get along with really.
Jiro was always irritated about something. Least that was the front he always seemed to have. Whether it was his true self or just a front at all was something one had to stick around him more in order to see. His bi colored eyes were misleading sometimes and for a good reason. Blinking a bit, he seemed fine with starting over. "Sure. And swords is what I'm working on.. but it's best to start with wooden ones to start off. Bokkans are excellent for beginners and such. But I think we should work on reach first.. I studied with staves first.. and it seemed to help me out a lot when I took up swords properly. But we'll take it one step at a time."
A smirk crossed his face before he snickered. "Yeah, I call him that all the time.. but it took a long time for him to accept. He used to hate it and he's gotten entirely too good with throwing his chopsticks. But he knows we don't mean any harm in it so he's finally accepted it from us. From others, he'll get.. testy, I'm afraid. I hope he is.. but even with his family, it was a tough going in the beginning. We all had to gain each other's trust and patience and that's how he thinks. SInce this is a first meeting, he's being careful. The more he's around her will really decide how he'll treat her while in training." For Akiya, every meeting between Jiro and another Tale was difficult, because he didn't quite know how his imp will react. Sometimes, he's in a good mood and he'll go along with it. Other times, he'd be pissed off and in a bad mood. Today, he seemed all right.. he leaned closer to her and whispered, "He's been rather out of sorts lately.. more moody and easily irritated than before. We think something's happening to him but what it is, we dunno yet. But we're saying that's why he's being testy..."

"Yes, perception is all in the eye of the beholder..." She nodded, glad that he seemed to be feeling more cordial. She had been on edge for the past twenty mintues, way too involved in the rather...heated conversation. She sighed, finally able to relax.
"I've met a couple of the others...Angelus and Chailyn I believe her name was. I got this nice feather from Angelus," she said, pulling the single braid from behind her ear, the black feather attached to the end. "Both him and Chai are really nice. I enjoyed talking to them." She paused, trying to remember if she'd met anyone named Viddy. "Viddy? What did she look like? I saw a pretty girl with blue skin. She waved at me, but I didn't get a chance to talk to her. I also met a magician who showed me magic tricks."
Feeling glad to be talking about something they had in common again, Rhea listened with great interest to Jiro talking about weapons training. "Yeah, I want to be sure I know how to use a weapon that isn't sharp before I start training with the real thing. Safety first of course..." She smiled, comfortable once again. "Staves? Are those the long pole-like weapons?" She refrained from asking more questions for now. That could come later.
"Let's just hope he doesn't aim that chopstick at your eye one day," Elysia whispered with a slight giggle. She gave Akiya a light poke in the side, just so he knew she was joking. "Well, I just hope they can forget their very drastic differences...And you never know what may be happening with him," she said, responding to his thoughts about Jiro being in strange moods. "Maybe he's getting his hormones early? You never know with kids these days. They grow up like weeds!"
Elysia was glad to have someone new and different to talk to. It was interesting to hear stories from other Tale parents, and their struggles with their newly adopted children. Finally, she had someone to swap stories with. She was certain she'd meet more guardians, but for now, it was nice to have a new friend.

"You've met Angelus?" His brow shifted a little bit, hsi spinning slowly ever so slightly as he smirked. "He's my brother... not by typical means, of course... he and his guardian live with me and my family back at Homegrounds. Shouhin thought it best that way... or something." Humph.. Angelus never gave him a feather. But then again, the two were usually at each other's throats about something or another. Least, that's how it had been in the beginning. Now they were more or less brothers and got along. "Yeah, Viddy's the one with blue skin. She's really sweet and it's hard to not like her. She's a close friend of mine." Magician? He didn't know any of those... but he didn't meet all that many of the other Tales. Though he had heard of Chai and wanted to meet her at some point and time, he wasn't about to rush anything. Especially if he would be getting a new teacher soon... he hoped.
Though he wasn't exactly at ease completely, he wasn't quite as tense and his spinning returned to its normal speeds, his fingers making it look almost easy. Bah, his skin was tingling.. he would have to let the blades out when he got home... or hunted or something. "Which is always the best way to go about it.. but I guess we should also see how your endurance is before we begin... I read that it's always important to have a strong body to go along with fighting skills and a concentrated mind.. And yes, that's exactly what they are. Since I'm not allowed to bring weapons outside of Home, mine is back there... so I can't show you."
"Oh he already has! Lots of times hehe." Though he snickered along with her, he wasn't joking. There were times when he and Jiro got into heated fights about something or another and the Tale had used his chopsticks against him. It was a good thing Akiya was trained as well so he could block him, but Jiro was fast and sometimes managed to slip past his guard. It was because of that and other reasons that he allowed him to train in the first place. "That's true.. I don't know what it could be. Though Syrie, Khia's guardian, said that he was really grumpy and agitated around the times he was about to grow so maybe that's it... I dunno." It wasn't like Jiro had any secret crushes or anything like that. Least not from what the Tale had told him or what he had seen as he watched him about the house. Though he thought it cute he made stuff for Viddy, he didn't think there was any romance there.
"Now that I think about it, I'm rather amused. Out of all the Tales he's met so far, this is the fourth female Tale he's met. He's iffy about meeting anyone but he's mroe iffy when it comes to girls." His grin showed quite clearly but he snickered as Jiro's eyes shifted over in his direction. Oh, the boy knew what he was talking abou and it didn't please him overly much either.

((I told myself this screen would sit here until my reply was complete...heh. I suckzorz. xd ))
Rhea's crimson eyes grew wide when she found out that Angelus was Jiro's brother...well, close enough to being a brother at least. "I didn't know that! We only talked briefly, so he didn't get into his family members. That's cool. I like him. He was fun to talk to, and he answered my questions, which I do appreciate." She played with the braid a bit, twisting the end, flicking the feather across her cheek. She had grown quite attached to the feather in her hair, and thought it a special gift from a new friend. "Does Angelus like weapons too? We didn't talk about that..."
Rhea thought about the blue-haired girl with the large smile, and she nodded to Jiro, curious "Viddy seems really nice. Maybe someday I'll meet her. She was friendly, even from far away! What kinds of things does she like to do?"
Watching him speedily spin the chopsticks, Rhea was impressed with his dexterity. She could only wonder if she'd be able to keep up with him while fighting, and she knew there'd be a lot of hard training coming up soon. "I'll bet it would take a lot of endurance to swing a sword properly for long periods of time." Tapping one finger against her cheek, she thought about how she might start training. "I should probably start running or something...Exercise is good for both the mind and body," she said, pausing. "Well, I guess there could be trouble with bringing weapons outside of your home. Though I see lots of people walking around with weapons...Maybe it's because we're smaller than the adults..." she pondered, assuming irresponsibility was the reason why it was a bad idea to bring weapons outside of the house. "I'm sure I'll get to see it some time. I'd like to see you train."
"Lots of times?! Did you get a brusie or a flesh wound?" Elysia asked, sincerely curious about Jiro using chopsticks as weapons. "I wonder how Rhea will take weapons training. I just hope she's responsible," the silver-haired woman said with a sigh. "I've never been a fan of weapons myself..."
Shifting in her standing position, Elysia looked around for anyone else in the store. It was awfully quiet today..."You just never know with kids. It could be a number of things. Have you talked to him about it?" she asked, watching Jiro and Rhea talk from across the room. "This is only the fourth girl he's met eh? Does he not like girls? Maybe they've just rubbed him the wrong way," she said, a goofy smile on her face. Catching the look from Jiro, she spoke again softly to Akiya. "Maybe we shouldn't be talking about them within earshot," she said with a giggle. "They'll hear everything..."

"Does he like weapons? I have no idea. It's not something we've spoken about." He wasn't surprised that Angelus failed to mention this little fact about them, but then again, he didn't care either. Why he himself had brought it up? Unknown but now he was wondering why he had done so. Blinking as she raved about him, he didn't seem overly interested in hearing more. "Glad you two get along then. I'm sure you'll see him when I start teaching you since he lives with me..."
He seemed to relax slightly as they spoke about Viddy. There was no reason to be tense when it came to her. "She likes to do a lot of things. Sadly, I don't get to hang out with her as much anymore.. and when I did see her, it was in the middle of the night so we couldn't do much."
"If you don't have the proper arm strength, you won't even be able to pick it up, much less attempt a swing. And it has nothing to do with irresponsibility. I'm not allowed to bring my weapons outside of Home because Shouhin knows that I'll use them. Without much hesitation of my part." He said that with a straight face, because he would. To him, he would use his weapons if he felt he had to and it wasn't a big deal to him. It wasn't something he would get upset over. "If Shouhin knew I wouldn't use them as I shouldn't, he would allow me to bring my weapons. He always has his own..." When she mentioned seeing him train, his left eye twitched ever so slightly, but it happened in a split second and wasn't seen. Jiro was the type who did his training in private. Not even his Yuhin was allowed to see what he did behind closed doors. It broke his concentration when others were in the room. Though, from what Akiya had told him, he would be having a teacher himself soon and he would have to learn how to adjust to something like that... he supposed.
Akiya couldn't help snickering in amusement. "Yeah, I get a lot of bruises from him but it's not a big deal!" He winked playfully down at her. "I'm a big boy. But if you want to see him use his chopsticks, just ask him." He noticed that Jiro was spinning them again. "I love when he does that. It took him the longest to master that.. and now he can actually use spin both of them with one hand. Just he only does two at home.. because he only lets his hair down fully there. Me, I've been trained with them all my life... I have no problems with them, as long as they're properly monitered, of course. And don't worry, we'll watch over both of them...
"And I couldn't really tell you what's up with him and girls... he just is rather.. edgy around them. Maybe because he's often called a girl because of his looks... I have no idea. Naaaah!" Waving a hand when she remarked on being careful about taking about him in front of him. "He does this to me allllll the time, so it's all about the payback." Seriously, Akiya was just a huge kid. But since, in his people's terms, he was a teen, it would explain a lot about his carefree nature.

"Aaah okay. Are you guys close?" she asked, getting the distinct impression that they weren't...at all. "Yeah, I'm glad we get along too. He was quite nice to me. You two live together? That's cool. Maybe you can come to my house when he comes too. We're supposed to go swimming."
Rhea's face looked interested when he spoke of Vidya. "Well, I hope you get to hang out with her more. Everyone says really nice things about her. She must be really personable!"
Then, attention turning back to thoughts of fighting, she flexed her arm instinctively, wondering if her arms were even strong enough to pick up a sword, let alone swing one. After all, she was still a little girl.
"Yeah, I'll have to lift some weights...get stronger. I doubt I could even lift a sword with these little arms," she said, looking down at her tiny bicep. "Well, as long as you're not using them to hurt anyone you shouldn't...I don't see why it's so bad to carry them around. I guess it's all a matter of perception though."
"You are a big boy!" she said, a girlish giggle coming from her throat as she poked him lightly in the arm. "I know you can take care of yourself! And I feel confident that you'll take great care of Rhea. I expect some minor cuts and bruises, but as long as she doesn't come home missing an arm, we're all good."
Before she had time to ask if some of the other kids had made fun of Jiro for looking 'girly', a blaring cellphone ring erupted from her handbag. "Oh sorry! Hold on a sec." Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a small phone, blinking rapidly as it rang.
"Hello?" she said, intently listening to the voice on the other end of the line. "Are you serious?" She sighed. "I'll be there soon. Give me half an hour..." Hanging up the phone, she turned to Rhea...
"Are you about ready to go Rhea? There are some problems back at the HQ. Kappa mentioned something about Furies setting traps for the babies...I think it'd be best if we get back as soon as possible." Her face looked worried, and a bit amused. Though she knew the "traps" couldn't be that bad, she wasn't ready to come home to a giant mess.
"It was so great to meet you though Akiya! We'll have to set up a time for Rhea and Jiro to get together to train...of course, if he's feeling up to it..." She gave Akiya a wink, and motioned for Rhea to follow her. It was time to go.
Rhea listened as her mother explained the situation. She knew full well that the Furies were trouble, and she laughed a bit when she thought of the scene that would await them back at home. "Well Jiro, it's been nice to meet you." She stood up and gave him a bow, trying to be polite. "I hope you'll be willing to train me. Just let me know when a good time to start would be. I'm sure my mom could bring me anywhere I need to go. And I would like to go see that marketplace sometime too, if it's not too much trouble..."

"Meh." was the only responce she would get about that. It took one seeing the two of them together and interacting to understand their relationship. It wasn't one of those things that was easily explained away with words. "Yeah, he and his guardian stay with us.. for certain reasons. And I dunno. It depends on if I have my own training lessons or not... so we'll see." It wasn't like he didn't know how to swim. Heavens knew he had to know if he had wanted to retrieve his blades. But such an invitation was odd to this Tale.. so he would sit and ponder about it.
"She is. Viddy is the nicest Tale one could possibly meet really... and I hope so too." it was nice hanging out with Viddy. For some reason, he didn't feel stressed with her. Or Armel... hmm.
When she spoke of using weights, his brow jacked up. He wondered if he had any sort of training and he hoped she wouldn't get in over her head. "I doubt it. Shouldn't worry about picking up or using a sword yet. If you start training under me, you won't be picking one up for a long while. We need to build your stamina first..." He gave a fainst snort. Unlike most, he didn't have those kind of qualms about it. "It's only bad if the peorson has murder on the mind. Otherwise it's fine. But it's not like I travel alone yet so I don't need to wear them for protection... though my chopsticks work just as well as a weapon."
"Heh, big in more ones than one, i suppose." Akiya couldn't help his snicker at that. Ever since he was small, there was always one part of his body that was bigger than norm. "And don't worry, I'll definately take care of your girl. Sah wouldn't allow anything less, to be honest. Jiro won't do anything that dangerous until he feels she's ready to spar with him. Only then will we really look over both of them."
As she picked up her phone, he fell silent, wondering what was up. He hoped it was nothing bad. Not understanding what was going on but understanding that they both had to go, he bowed his head with a grin. "it was a pleasure to meet you as well! And whenever you're ready, you can send us a missive... if you see Angelus or Silent before you see us, you can ask tem to bring it home to us. Knowing Jiro, he'll agree. Just give him time to think up a training schedule." He smiled warmly as he waved. They should head home as well. Sah would be waiting for them.
Jiro returned the bow, pushing his braids over his shoulders as he straightened. "Pleasure..." He was going to be training someone... he would have to talk to Dusk-sensei about what would be the best way to go about it. His mind was already whirlling with deep thought as he nodded. "Sure... I don't think Elder Iruka would mind.. I'll get you a guest pass anyway.. just in case. Take care of yourself."
It was only after the two females left that Akiya and Jiro took their own leave. It had been a rather interesting day... he supposed.
((And thus this meeting is brought to a close X3))
