Misha had to hold back a chuckle. He couldn't remember wanting to wear clothes that badly at all at 'that age', heehee. Also he had no idea what 'Victorian' was exactly. He'd heard the word somewhere, sometime, but it hadn't been an issue enough to actually remember what it was about. Maybe he'd do some research on it later, so he actually knew what his little brother was so passionate about. ”Ah... I don't know that, no. Could be...”

Oh wait. “Err...” That wasn't quite right. ”... not really. Wait, then again.. Yeah, sort of. If one has shame, one'll at least try to make sure to be dressed properly, and then people won't have a reason to laugh. It's even meaner when people laugh over a person who wants to hide but can't though... ” Complicated. Yes. ”Na, if you say so, I'll ask miss Lee if I can see her books sometime. Don't all books have text? Sometimes I wonder where all of those writings came from, people must like writing.”

Talking, talking, and then there was Lee getting uncomfortable. “Ah, don't worry... You're a team, right? And it's his purpose to help you, and teach you, and he'll need you to help him figure out how you like to learn. So as long as you give him a chance I'm sure he can learn how to work with you properly, without annoying you. Hey, it might even be fun.” Geehee, wink. He didn't know why Lee didn't just comply and work with Lauss, because he had no idea what this sort of learning was like, but he could at least try to empathise. According to Longway it wasn't walk in the park by far... He'd hate to have a purpose that innately irked his owner.

Lauss' little 'moment' made the bunny look a bit closer at what he'd been doing. Uh? ”...Are you okay there?” He didn't think he had hurt him, petting was nice, but he couldn't help but worry a bit. A glance at Lee showed him she apparently hadn't seen him do this before either. … he'd ask later, more awkward things first.

”M-me?” Fallen in love? ”Ah... hah, no, I don't... have a girlfriend, psh. That's...” a very flustering thought. I'm always busy, Longway and momma are the only females who have any say in what I do, and Ellandra's my big sister now, whatwhat... No, this bunbuns knew loooo~ve from those sappy romance novels he'd read as a young Alter. In all his naiveté, he's quickly found himself melting over the relationships described in such colourful, emotional wordings. Too perfect, he knew, too tragic, but hey, if love was an idea, that might as well be what he would define as 'close enough'. Lee's question was enough to make him blush pink.

“Also why do you use past tense, I'm not even old enough to on-and-off.” Pout. ”I do have people who are important to me, though. Not as many as most people have, I guess, but they're enough to keep me busy. I don't think I 'love' them, but they're dear to me.” Yeah, that's right. Longway, master Banning and momma first and foremost, Ellandra, and then people like you, and my siblings, yeah... I'm quite happy about my relationships so far. Heehee, that thought made him smile again, even if his cheeks were still red-hot from a moment earlier.

“Talking about 'talking', I'm quite sure I rambled more than he spoke in the last minutes.” glancing at Lauss and back to Lee, he did begin to wonder if he'd done something wrong. Kinda cosy they were now, this close together, and he was still gently crawling the Proto, now right behind his soft-fluffed cheeks, with a soft touch as if handling a cat. He'd petted cats before, and he'd found they reacted to him alright, once they decided he wasn't food.

”Has he done that before?” he asked Lee then, referring to that little spaz earlier, and this sudden silence. Nothing bad with relaxing and listening, but she'd looked so baffled...

Lauss kept up with Misha's "Yeah"s and "No wait"s as he attempted to explain the relationship between shame and dress codes, noting and re-noting his answers as he went along. Misha, so far, had managed to give Lauss a better and more easily understood description of polite manners than anyone had before him, despite being such a young essentic. He put things simply, probably because he knew exactly how strange these concepts were to a proto.

Textbooks. Hm. "I suppose they do." He didn't bother to think about things like that, and found it odd that anyone else would. "Writing is enjoyable. Miss Ellandra is a writer. Lee writes sometimes, when she does homework. I see the maids and servants write, as well, only just on small pieces of paper with only a few words." He would have continued on about who he saw writing and what they write, but seemed to run out of people to mention. He'd only come into contact with a few for an extended period of time, so he was limited on sources.

Lee bit at a nail and turned her head away from Misha. Fun? Doubt it. Learning was everything she hated and everything she was terrible at. The thought of having to waste part of her life studying things she'd never use again and would likely never remember again just seemed to drag her spirits further down. "You're lucky you don't have ta go ta school." Her posture was worsening and her voice was low, as if she didn't actually want Misha to hear her.

Lauss couldn't answer his big bro, seemingly paralyzed for the moment. Not from pain, but just the opposite. Yet it was very uncomfortable, for his spirit at least.

"Oh." Lee giggled a bit, though a little disappointed she wouldn't be able to hear any sappy stories. She was, after all, as much the teenage girl as she looked. Silly little bunny boy. He was like a little kid trapped in a big kid's body. "I keep forgetting." She stretched back, rather relaxed now, and propped herself up with her elbows.

Lee laughed a bit again, her way of saying "I guess that's true." She wasn't about to feel bad for talking down about Lauss, definitely too proud.

"N-no. It's... weird." She tilted her head a bit, asking, "You kay, Lauss?" He couldn't respond, and instead just flicked the end of his tail. What he meant was "Please stop this, Miss Lee, please stop this now," but what Lee got out of it was, "This is pleasant, don't bother me." She shrugged her shoulders a bit to Misha. Nothing she was about to worry about.

Hmm... Indeed, it was easier to explain if you still knew exactly what 'mattered' about such things, and before Misha hadn't been able to make any sense of it at all himself. Only when he started maturing he began to develop an acute feel for social structure and the do's and don't's of society.

"That's what miss Longway says... At least you get to choose what you learn. We just know things and do things and we didn't really get much of a choice in it." a little grin, with a faint layer of wry humour. "Ah, such is... life, I guess. You might as well make the best of it." You're not gonna wheedle out easily. The fact she seemed to spend more energy moping on it than just go along with the flow was so backwards to him.. he didn't struggle against his purpose either, and while he couldn't blame her much, she WAS giving Lauss a hard time. He wondered what it'd be like if he never got any assignments and had to beg to be allowed to deliver things.

They really had to learn how to work together better, oh yes. By now, his mood had taken a rollover into the more serious territory. He really couldn't be flustered about girlfriend-boyfriend talk when his little brother was having a bit of trouble. That silence, that tailflick, something was off, yet Lee didn't seem to think so. However, she claimed not to know what was going on, how could she not be worried?

Misha scuffled around a bit to face Lauss better, stopped crawling. "... hey... Easy there..." Aww you, wished I could read your expression better. Somehow he felt sad now, and he didn't like feeling sad. Maybe he felt off because of Lauss now? Something wasn't right, he knew. Na, he didn't know what was wrong, he only knew how to try and fix it, really.

The bunny gently scooped him up then, under his arms, and softly pressed him close to his chest in a warm hug. For a moment, he wondered if Lauss knew what a hug was. If he didn't... Everyone should know, honestly now. He even began making a soft sort of soothing noise, to reassure him he wouldn't do him any harm this way.

"I guess I didn't think about that..." She pulled at her hair, feeling a bit foolish again. "But you like it right? Your purpose. I mean, it's fun for Lauss." She was a bit jealous at that moment; it would have been nice to love to learn, to love to do what you had to do.

In all honesty, Lee couldn't have cared less that Lauss was silent. It was a good change of pace, Lee doing the talking, Lauss just sitting there. But it looked like that wasn't going to last much longer...

At the cease in loving, Lauss flopped his arms in front of him, seemingly exhausted. As he was about to roll over and assume a more comfortable position, he was "manhandled" by his older sibling once more. His little head tilted, very used to being squeezed by Lee in her efforts to hold him back, but not so much just for the heck of it. He lifted his head to try to see Misha, asking flatly, "What are you doing?" This wasn't as strange as that last experience, so he was perfectly able to speak.

"Na, doing what you do well is fun... Even if it's hard sometimes, and dangerous in my case. I suppose there are things that take the joy out of it completely though..." Imagine Longway ignoring my efforts and frankly not giving a damn. Okay, she didn't care much, but at least she showed she was pleased when he was quick and punctual. "It'd be backwards if I hated my purpose, we can't exist without it."

... wait, why wouldn't it be possible to dislike the path chosen? Maybe some had hated it, in the past, but... No, why would they, going against what they were made to do was so... so... against their nature, too. It was like denying yourself proper nourishment just to be cross.

Sigh-inducing it was... He really hoped Lee and Lauss would get along better someday, this way they were just making it harder for each other. Of course, the effort would have to come from both sides.

"I'm... hugging you."
Misha peeked down, almost nose-to-nose. "And you're not hugging back." Smile.

"So far everyone I met likes hugging, and I do, too. It's very comforting to me. You didn't learn that yet? I bet miss Lee likes hugs, too." Aww seriously, huggles and snuggles are like... elementary! Misha glanced at Lee briefly as he said that. Correct me if I'm wrong, okay?

"... na, are you alright? You seemed a little tense earlier, I didn't hurt you did I?" Eep, if I did, I really didn't mean to little bro', I swear. He started stroking his back again softly again, going on instinct only.

Lee couldn't remember what Misha's purpose was anymore, and wondered how it could be dangerous. He didn't look like a combat type, that was for sure. Nor did he look like he liked to live "on the wild side". She probably should ask, though; didn't want him to know that she really wasn't paying much attention to him the first time they met.

"Hug back?" Lauss wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. This was the first he'd heard of this "hugging". He tried his best to imitate his older brother, reaching his arms out into the space in front of him and then pulling them close to his chest as he saw Misha do. "Like this?" He wondered why on earth anyone enjoyed this. It was rather boring if you asked him.

Lee face squeezed uncomfortably at Misha's words. "N-not really." Hugging. Intimate. Embarrassing. There would be no hugging on her part, but if Lauss and Misha were enjoying themselves, then they could go right ahead.

"Not hurt. Very uncomfo--" There is was again. He stiffened again, not sure how to get out of this now. He was trapped and was now being tortured with "tickling" feelings. But he couldn't help but purr again. What a strange thing. Misha had so much power over him, and probably didn't even know it.

She could always ask him... the bunny had yet to eat anyone alive for being interested.

At Lauss attempts, Misha smiled faintly, holding back a chuckle. ”Ah... usually, someone's between your arms, you know. It's not about the action, it's about what it means... to the one giving it, and to the one receiving it.” he explained calmly. ”I know it always helped me, when I was upset. To have someone do that for me, because hugs mean someone likes you. Cares for you. … not that there aren't other ways people show affection.” ^^

“I see miss Lee isn't used to them either? … I find it strange how people need to feel safe and loved, and yet shield themselves so badly. Miss Longway said it's just grown that way, that people can't trust each other enough to share p... proximity, that's the word she used.” his ears flopped a little, and his warm eyes looked at both of them with that ever-present subtone of sadness. Why did things have to be this way?
He'd even read somewhere little animals, monkeys, would rather starve then not have warmth and affection. It was so natural, yet it caused so much... awkwardness. Lauss' reaction only proved that.

Misha couldn't help but lean down a little, raising a floppy ear to listen. ”I don't mean to make you feel uncomfortable, but... you're... making kitty noises, brother.” O.o how curious. He did let him out of the embrace, gave him some room, and with quite a bit of effort restrained himself from continuing that petting. Odd how soft he was, all warm-alive. ”Cats do that, and you can never tell with cats, but usually they purr when they're happy, miss Longway said. Or when they like something but won't admit it.” he grinned a little at the oddity of that. Then he looked a little troubled. ”.. and.. also when they're hurt, she said. When they're looking for comfort or something. Nobody really knows why.”

“I'm sorry Lauss, I really didn't mean to make you awkward... I have a lot to learn, too. “
Aww you... ”But I know one thing, and that is that I really, really like you, and I wished you could purr because you're happy. “ Again that almost-sad smile, full of warmth and emotions Lauss probably wouldn't understand yet, and directed not only at him. Poor miss Lee... he could only imagine life to be lonely without someone to share affection with.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 10, 2009 11:48 pm

Lauss looked at the empty gap in front of him. Hm. That could be the reason this was so unfulfilling. He'd started to not mind being held, and thought of it as merely sitting between bony, warm cushions. Not so bad. He was now a bit curious. "How else would one show affection?" This could help him with his biggest problem at the moment. At least, it might help him find out later in some way.

Lee didn't quite catch that Misha was referring to her. If she had, she'd probably have been somewhat insulted, however accurate it was. Instead she cocked her head as he talked. He was much wiser than she'd thought. Not that she thought he was stupid, but... He knew so much at such a young age. More than she did, anyway. Lauss wasn't entire sure of what was being said. This was all a bit over his head, and he listened with curiosity but didn't offer input.

"Kitty noises?" Lauss' purring stopped as he wondered. And now he was laying down again. Hm. Kinda chilly all of a sudden. "I don't know much about cats. But I know some things about dogs. They bite a lot. And they can't talk. Did you know that, Misha?" Lauss hardly gave Misha time before lifting himself off the bad and leaving the room, floating down the hall. Weirdo. Lee tilted her head. She was a fan of kitties; heck, she was a fan of everything small and fluffy. "I didn't know that." She mentioned at the last part of Misha's words. "I've never had a cat..." She shrugged.

Lauss hurried back into the room without saying anything, but holding a small black and brown puppy in his hands. "Be careful with 'im, Lauss..." She always got nervous when Lauss decided to interact with Rosco. He was so delicate, and Lauss was so... dangerous. The proto set it beside Misha. "You may examine it for yourself. It is called 'Rosco'. You don't have to say Mister to it. It will not understand you." He nodded to Misha. Oh, his knowledge of puppies had grown quite a lot in these last few days, but he was still so off about a lot of things.

"How else? Ah, there are so many ways... Some people give each other things they know the other likes, or they spend time with them and make them feel good... or, umm... snuggling, that's like cuddling but different, Longway said. She says you can even show affection just by not making trouble for the one you care about." yeep, smile. Easier said than done, no? "Really, there are a lot of ways that generally involve not making trouble and doing your best to make them feel alright. For miss Longway I do my very best to do my tasks well and not be late, because she gets annoyed when I don't."

Nod, kitty noises. Dogs? Oh dear. "Ah, I know that, yes." The giant sweatdrop was almost visible. Misha really didn't like dogs all that much, never been very fond of them. Kell sure did give him a scare there. Whatwhat? Watching Lauss leave rather hastily, he turned back to Lee. "... oh, we don't have a cat around either... miss Ellandra does though." Only the faintest of blushes showed how deep that association ran. Big sis! >w<

The bunny was quickly broken from that little out of the blue dreamery when Lauss returned and promptly deposited a little squirming... EEK!

Misha *almost* jolted up, but managed to control himself, wibbled away a pace and leaned down to watch that... mother of all, so small. That's not very scary, right? "I... I now they don't, dogs don't talk." Rosco? Where had he heard that before...

"A... little dog. Wow miss Lee, that looks almost like Kell. Just teeeeensy tiny." Eyes wide in wonder, he stared at it, leaned down on his elbows, bum-up so his fluffytail stuck up.

"Oh, they call these puppies, right? Gaw he's *adorable*." he looked around at Lee, eyes almost sparkling with childlike delight. AWWWWW lookitdat!
"Can I... can I touch it?" I won't harm it, I promise, aw, how could anyone ever hurt such a cute lickle thingie.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 11, 2009 8:56 pm

Lauss tilted his head. Hm. "Miss Lee doesn't do any of those things for me." He though to himself out loud. Lee must not love him very much. Or at least not appreciate him. Lee looked at him and cocked her head. "That doesn't mean I don't like you, Lauss. I just don't wanna do that. It's weird." She blushed a bit as she shifted uncomfortably. This was... awkward. She was never very good at justifying things, and more than that she hated being "soft". Lauss was interested again. "Does Miss Longway do those things for you, Misha?"

Lee didn't know Ellandra had a cat... She'd have to find it next time she saw her.

"Ah, you know a bit about dogs already, Misha? Would you like me to quiz you?" Lee shook her head at him with unamused eyes. She imagined Misha wouldn't be upset with him, though. He was very understanding, it seemed.

"Actually..." She looked over at the two, and, deciding to play with the puppy as well, crawled over to where everyone was huddling. "I got him from Eli. So... I guess he is a tiny version of Kell." She beamed down at Rosco as she rubbed his head. "Go ahead and touch him. You could pick him up if you wanted."

Rosco eyed the bunny boy in front of him, tilting his head as he got closer. He leapt up and put his paws on the essentic's cheeks, sniffing his nose and mouth. Assuming this person was no harm, he gave Misha a few small licks on the mouth before putting all fours back on the bed. He rolled to his belly, and Lauss took note of the invitation. "He seems to enjoy having his abdomen rubbed." The proto nodded, happy to have noticed such a thing.

Misha'd been about to ask Lee about what was up with that, but luckily enough she gave her own 'defense', and on second thought, it wasn't like he couldn't give an entire heap of reasons why the girl would avoid such signs of affection. Not like Longway was much different that way...

”Uh...n.. not really. I don't want to bother her, you know. She's pretty busy and all... and I'm very good at being a pain in the neck even without being near her.” Classy dodge, heh. Might as well admit you think she doesn't care... He'd never blame her for that, though. He wasn't in any position to criticise her or make demands, after all, she did look after him well, and she showed him more patience than he had for himself. He'd sometimes wanted to cuddle her when she was upset, but had quickly learned she didn't appreciate such things, not from him. He didn't know why, but he wouldn't pry when all he did was aggravate her.

“About dogs? Canines? Ahah... I read a bit about them, and I've been.. err.. chased plenty. Not sure if I could answer your questions, but if you'd like to, why not. I've never played quiz-games before.” he smiled and nodded. Indeed, he didn't see how it could do any harm, and hey, it might be fun. The bunny was aware school was no fun, but how that related to pop-quizzes being a bad thing he didn't follow just yet.

When Lee joined them on the bed, he made more room for her, beaming brightly. Yee, so cosy all huddled up together! Just the way he liked it, ah. People should really be more friendly to each other, it would make life loads easier to bear.

”Really? Wow, that quite a coinci-” splutter, eep. “.. splfff” Odd noise, squick. Dog-tongue on face, clawsies too close to my eyes. He hadn't jolted away, just closed his eyes and turtled into his shirt a little. He hadn't really expected that one, and he wasn't sure if he found it gross or funny. ...no, gross was about right. Puppy-tongues didn't belong anywhere near his own, ew. He fuzzily wiped the dog-spittle off his face with his sleeve, pulling a wry giddy face, tongue out.

“Aye aye, I guess he does. Hee, licky-licks don't go on faces... at least not mine.” awwright, no harm done. Already over the slightly odd moment, he was already chuckling again, glanced up at Lee for approval and carefully, even a little apprehensively, petted the little thing's belly. ”It's... fascinating how things grow from small to bigger, no? Unlike... Na. It's just awesome, I think.” Nuff said. Why yes, he is still so very, very young, all things considered.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 15, 2009 8:23 pm

Lee almost smiled at Misha's words, but controlled herself; that would have been rude, especially when he was saying something so heartfelt. Miss Longway seemed to have a similar reaction to her essentic, though Misha was much more careful not to step on toes, and Longway was probably much more tolerant. If only Lauss behaved that way. And perhaps he might, when he was Misha's age.

Um, no Misha, that was a bad idea. "Er... I don't think you should give him that chance. He gets all excited." You have no idea what you've done to yourself, little alter. And Lauss wasn't about to wait for a reply. "Misha, please tell me how many legs a dog has." Yes, these were the kinds of questions he'd be asked. Lauss knew nearly nothing about puppies aside from the observations he'd made himself. Which, of course, were very obvious.

Lee squished herself on the bed with everyone else, admiring and petting the puppy. Pretty puppy! Nice puppy! He continued laying on his back, surrounded by love and curiosity. Rosco was in heaven.

Lee picked up that Misha may not be as in love with dogs as she was, and quickly decided an apology was in order. "Ah, sorry about that, we haven't really taught him not to lick mouths. B-but it means he likes you." She had to add that in. Don't think he'd trying to be gross, he's trying to show you his love. She thought, when putting it that way, Misha should be able to appreciate that.

"Yeah, I guess." Lee didn't see what was so special about it, but didn't want to insult him. Lauss, though, couldn't agree more with Misha. "Yes, I agree. I have done research on the subject, and find it fascinating. I have much to learn on it, but perhaps when my studies are complete I can tell you about it." Someone to teach. That would be fun.

“Excited? What's wrong with exci- Oh, four. If they're healthy. Everyone knows that, right?” veryone who was reasonably old enough and had ever seen a dog, or cats, or any other sort of animal. Animals had four and.. insects had six and spiders eight? No biggie... Obvious answer indeed.

”Na, this little one looks healthy and happy enough.” giggle, lookatim squirm!

”Oh, I know he meant nothing bad... I guess it's the same as some people liking hugs, and others find them awkward?” Misha retorted subtly to her unneeded apology. He's picked up on that parallel instantly, and found it a rather good example of how touchy-feely worked for some people. Maybe to Lee and Lauss, hugging and petting was like puppy-licks? A harmless sign of affection, for some very pleasant and soothing, for others an alien sensation, startling, something new and uncomfortable, who knows. Hey, he suddenly decided he quit liked puppy-licks. As long as he kept his mouth closed, they probably weren't so bad, right?

”Ttah, Lauss, I hope that my the time you have it all figured out, so will I.” I've learned on my when for over a year now, and that's nowhere in sight, that ultimate wisdom. ”If that's even possible... a lot of things are confusing at first, some become confusing later, and other things nobody knows.” o.o
