 James looked over at Samantha and smiled, "Umm, would you like a glass of punch for yourself? Your little friend there looks thirsty enough I'm afraid she might drink it all before anyone else gets some." He chuckled and smiled down at Bridgette, "That's a very nice dress," he said in the tone older people use when talking to kids, "you're not a princess are you?"

Samantha smiled kindly at the man.
"I'd love some, thank you."
she said looking over at him as Bridgette hide behind her. Samantha smiled and picked her up looking around the area. The grand piano looked beautiful. She smiled down at Bridgette.
"its alright hun, I dont think he'll hurt you"
She said and hugged Bridgette and took her hand smiling. She felt bad that Bridgette was so shy, but it was just how she was.

James chuckled at the little girls shyness, "Hey it's okay, I was like that for a long time as a kid. Before long I bet she'll be the bell of the ball." He handed the punch to Samantha and smiled, "I'm James, it's a pleasure to meet you." James could feel his heart beating like crazy, he had never really talked to a girl as pretty as this, that is without her laughing in his face.

Samantha smiled at him, he seemed a bit nervous. But he was sweet. Bridgette looked out at him from behind Samantha a bit.
"thank you"
she said taking the punch and sipping it.
"I am Samantha and well this is Bridgette"
she said smiling down at her. She was glad Bridgette liked people, it was just that she was shy. When they were to get back to their room tonight Samantha knew Bridgette would be talking up a storm about all the people she saw, for now though she was silent around the people. She looked down at her shoes and would randomly look up to see the people again. There were so many people to see.

James couldn't help but grin at the little girl as she peeked out from behind Samantha, he had always liked little kids since they didn't judge you like most people did, "Well it's a pleasure to meet you both, what brings you to this party Samantha?" James gave another chuckle as he saw Bridgette looking around, must be hard for her in a new place with so many strangers.

Samantha smiled and rubbed the top of Bridgettes head a bit and thought about his question. She didnt know exactly what to say, it was all a bit confusing but she was trying to think of a way to explain it. She smiled kindly at him.
"just needed to get out of reality for a bit, and well its almost midnight and the new year, everyones got something to celebrate right?"
she said still smiling and sipped her punch hopeing she had explained it well enough.

James chuckled and nodded his head, "Heh heh, yeah I totally know what you mean, we all have to be somewhere on New Years. This place is really nice, and my dad never lets me on the yacht anymore, not since I spilled grape juice on the deck, heh heh heh." He coughed lightly and looked around once more before smiling at Samantha again, "Ar-are you here with anyone, I mean besides Bridgette of course."

Samantha laughed lightly at the grape juice part. She hadn't had a conversation with someone in a while. She glanced around as if to see if anyone was with her. She looked back and him and shook her head lightly.
"naw it doesnt seem I am with anyone".
She ran her fingers through her hair a bit. Bridgette looked up at them a bit confused at what they were talking about but smiled lightly when Samantha looked down at her.

James gave a nod of his head and smiled, pushing up his glasses as she ran her hand through her hair. He had never talked to a pretty girl for this long before, but he felt more confident now that he had been talking to her for a while, " Oh, yeah me either. I mean I could have come with someone...I-I had a date and everything, but she had to cancel at the last minute. She's not my girlfriend or anything, we're just friends, I-I'm totally single right now." James could feel his ears getting red, he was rambling again as he always did when he got nervous.

Bridgette tugged at Samantha's dress a bit and Samantha knelt down a bit and smiled at her.
"yes Bridgette?"
she asked smiling at her.
Bridgette looked at James then looked back at Samantha and whispered something in her ear.
Samantha could tell what she'd said even though Bridgette spoke in a very soft voice. She took Bridgettes hand and smiled at James.
"well that is wonderful"
she said smiling still. She was single at the moment too but failed to mention it.
"well do you mind excusing us for a moment"
she said looking at James. She didnt know if she wanted to leave, he was nice company and his rambling she found amusing and cute.

James tried to hear what Bridgette was saying but her little voice was just too soft over the noise of the party. He looked up quickly as Samantha spoke to him again, " Oh, no problem at all. I'll see you around, okay?" He gave another smile and looked down at Bridgette, " Save me a dance if you can." He gave them both a small wave and walked off, trying to appear casual as he looked around the crowd.

Beren seeing that it was getting close to midnight went up to the buffet table to get punch. Seeing every one at the table he smiled and nodded. This was a sad day for him but he made the best of it and he did want to meet new people and hopefully make new friends. He had his notebook and artist pencils out and visible in case he saw something to sketch.

Samantha picked Bridgette up smiling and walked out to the dance floor. She sat Bridgette down and took her hands smiling dancing to a farmilliar song, rose garden. It was an old song, but a farmilliar one at least. She was happy Bridgette reconized the song still and she was happy to be dancing. It was a regular speed not to fast but not to slow, mostly Samantha just wanted Bridgette to have fun. They both laughed as the song went on. Samantha liked the song a lot, but her collection of music was a bit of a mix between oldies to some newer bands. She just liked the thoughts this song brought back. She smiled watching Bridgette all excited as they danced. Bridgette had made up random dance moves to pretty much all of the lyrics and was singing as she danced.

Rider watched as slowly everyone croweded round the food table. He however stayed in the corner alone. She wasnt here, but why? He sighed and looked down at his hands in his lap.

James started to look over the food, getting a small plate and picking out a few things to eat. He had to mentally remind himself to stay away from anything that would make his breath smell too bad, even if he did bring some mint gum just in case. He looked around the crowd and gave a nod to Beren, "Hey, are you an artist or something?" he walked closer as he popped a small sandwich into his mouth and chewed it quietly.
