Yayyy... Fantasy sounds like a lot of fun... It's probably my favorite genre after comedy. Ehh... I won't know if I want to read it all until I figure out how busy I'll be this summer razz
xD I hate genre boundaries. My current novel doesn't fit easily into a certain genre, but fantasy is generally a very broad genre that may just as well encompass my novel (I hope).
...what is monsterpunk? .________. I'm off to wikipedia now. I'm curious.
EDIT: wikipedia doesn't even have an entry .____. too obscure? What I saw on google results looks interesting though. biggrin

Ice: Yeah, my novel series is hard to pin down in genre, too. The first book is just bizarre fantasy, the second is more of a simple adventure/roadtrip, and the third is probably going to be more supernatural. The fourth will then be some kind of science fantasy. XD
I think monsterpunk is a term coined by one guy for his own work. It's kind of an adult, dystopian version of Pokemon. In a way, I guess it's like cyberpunk or steampunk, except the focus would be on biology and animals (with a touch of battles and possibly magic) My biggest problem would be trying to make creatures that don't too closely resemble ones in Pokemon. @___@

Flea: ...I'm slightly confused on how it could go from fantasy to roadtrip genre, but I'm sure it makes much more sense to you than me. My current novel is a mishmash of adventure/action/fantasy/scifi/litfic/humor/and others... xD.... I also can't decide whether my story will even qualify for romance or scifi .___.
An adult dystopian version of Pokemon sounds fun... I especially love biology and animals razz shameless bio-geek unfortunately, and I adore action as well. Unfortunately, I don't think I could ever write about animals without feeling a bit like a furry... But yes, obscure and rather interesting term... If you ever put a synopsis up, I'd love to read it.

Well, the first book takes place entirely in one place, and the second book has the main characters travelling across their world, going from wilderness to civilization, so it loses some of the more extreme fantasy elements but gains more of an adventure/roadtrip feel as they hop from place to place.
Sounds like your book is as jumbled as my series. XD I just lump mine in fantasy because that's what it most resembles - strange world, strange creatures, a "prophecy", etc. The romance, comedy, and other stuff is all kind of secondary.
At the rate I'm going, I think the earliest I'd get to the monsterpunk story would be Nanowrimo 2010. @__@ That's if I decide to write that before my horror comedy.

I think I've been quite consistent genre-wise within this trilogy... Although I'm not sure if that's going to change when I start work on book three in the summer. Who knows? I certainly don't. XD
It scares me that tomorrow is the beginning of the SuWriMos. I mean, I know I won't be starting for another two weeks, but the simple fact that it's June already is creeping me out BIGTIME. =O

Gah. Don't remind me. gonk I'm so not ready for Suwrimos. I didn't get to a good point in Ochrasy II, so it's going to be slow going for these first few days as I finish splicing a couple chapters.
It would've helped if I hadn't been distracted by the sudden urge to finish that short story. >_>;

But, I suppose at least you'll have finished it? I've spent my last few days rereading my NaNo novel instead of revising, and while it was something of a confidence booster since I quite enjoyed it, I don't think it's going to help me pass those exams that I have to pass. XD To be honest, what I'm doing now isn't helpful either: I'm sat staring at Like Ink and trying my hardest to write something intelligent on it.
Needless to say, I'm not getting very far. X3

@DaFlea: Well, that makes a lot more sense. xD I do like how fantasy is a really big umbrella sort of genre, to the point where almost anything paranormal can fall under it. And... a horror comedy? xDD... Sounds interesting and difficult, but I'm sure it's definitely possible... Suddenly I'm thinking of the Scary Movies...
@Psycho: I don't even want to think about that yet. D:! I don't have the actual plot down for any of my major projects I have planned yet. :/
Kind of like Da Flea, I'm at a bad part in my novel. I can't figure out one of the suddenly important character's motivation... so I can't figure out what happens next. Woohoo! I'm pretty sure I can't write around it either, so I'll just have to mull it over for the next few days.

I think it's actually somewhat lucky that I won't be starting to write until the 15th, because I'm really really really not ready. XD I need to get into that kind of... writing hype that normally comes with the SuWriMos, but it's not here yet and so I'm definitely not ready to be writing more than 200 words in a day. rofl
I'm at a bad part of my novel now, too. It's not bad in the same way though: I'm struggling because this scene has a big overlap with the previous novel, and so I have to write it so that it's interesting, and has all the relevant bits of information needed to make the scene flow, but I have to try not to make it boring and spice it up somehow. It's a bit difficult. >_>
At least in the next novel when it comes to the overlap scenes I can actually cut most of them out, since Minerva probably wouldn't be concerned with scenes like that, and add new ones that haven't appeared in either of the other novels. =O I'm looking forward to that.

Sometimes I just skip difficult scenes, or I leave them half-written. It's a bad habit, because I still have to deal with them in the second draft. >_>;;
Ice: Yeah, but the hugeness of Fantasy can also be a problem. It holds everything from vampires to elves to wizards, plus my story which has none of those things. It gets the point where people can both write fantasy and have nothing in common with each other. o_O
I actually don't like most of the Scary Movies. XP But that was more a satire of other horror movies, where my idea was its own plot just done in a comedic way. I can't really think of anything that would be an example like mine, although I'm sure I've seen it done before... I had a group of horror fans whose city suddenly gets over-run by various horror movie problems (wolves, giant ants, cannibals, zombies) and they're freaked out but also kind of excited as they go about saving the day. It was my very first Nano and fell apart about halfway through from bad planning. I'm determined to rewrite it someday.
PMS: Your computer died last night, and I thought you'd be gone for good. I even posted about it in the WF thread - and I don't think anyone responded. X_X

It did die, yeah. Luckily my step dad was able to rectify the problem without too much trouble, it just took a long time to completely get rid of the virus, so by the time he'd finished it was some stupid time in the morning and he told me just to leave the PC until this morning. Thankfully, by the time I'd woken up, it had sorted itself out completely, so I'm still alive. =3
I don't know what I'd do without my PC. gonk

So, I wrote 200 words yesterday. How pathetic. XD But, for saying I'm not supposed to be writing, that's not too bad. =P
