Ellandra, still in the front room, tried to keep her fear at bay and focus on the conversation Faolan and Keagan were having. Her father-in-law didn't seem too upset, which was good... Hesitantly, she climbed to her feet and edged into the bedroom, keeping out of the way of the two men and the Alter, sitting down on the bed and reaching to the bo that held her spark, taking it and cradling it to her chest. It was still dormant, yes, but she liked to think that it was comforting her anyway. Even if it was just her own mind deluding her for the moment. . . well, it still helped.
She said nothing, not wanting to draw attention to herself, not while her breathing was short and panicky, not while she was still on the verge of panicking; she didn't want to worry Faolan. She needed to be ignored, she needed to be unnoticed so she could calm down...
Ignored, unnoticed, invisible... any of those things would be nice...

Faolan reached a hand out almost unconsciously and stroked his wife's cheek, a soft gesture of comfort. He could see the signs well enough that she was on the verge of one of her attacks. Moving to sit next to her, he pulled her to his chest, wrapping strong arms around her, wanting to provide an anchor for her. She didn't have to be invisible. He was here for her.

Ellandra buried her face against Faolan's shoulder, the urge to disappear still strong, but she took comfort in her husband's presence, drawing strength from him, trying to calm herself again. "I - I'm sorry...." she murmured, thankful that she hadn't lost her voice entirely, but still feeling frightened and just a bit strange, too, like she usually did when she was so desperate to be unseen.

"No need to be sorry, wife. Everything's alright," Faolan said softly, kissing her hair. He looked up at Keagan. "Give us an hour and we'll meet you at your vardo."
"Sure, laddie," Keagan said without fuss. He could see his boy needed to comfort the poor girl. He wondered how Faolan had attached himself to someone so meek and needy, but . . . it did make the lad less selfish, so it couldn't be a bad thing. "Bring your wee 'un with you. No one at Farstep's likely to notice the lad about the carnival."
Zia looked up, narrowing its eyes. "I'm not a boy."
"Lass, then," Keagan said, shrugging.
"I ain't that, either."
Keagan gave Fao a questioning look and the half-demon answered, "It's complicated." The old man nodded, letting it go at that, and headed out of their vardo.
Faolan looked down at Ellandra in his arms, stroking her hair. Zia scooted over and hugged the both of them.

fortunately, it took much less time for Ellandra to calm down this time, and after a few moments she took a deep breath and simply relaxed in Faolan's hold, reaching out an arm to wrap around Ziazan as well - her other arm was still clutching her own little spark, the colored Essence-vapors rising as always. "I'm sorry," she said again. "Th-that I'm so weak, so . . . so pathetic. . ." Because she was - she was weak and pathetic and needy and how could she ever be a good wife or mother with a personality like hers?

"La, wife, you are none of those things," Faolan said, looking down at her, concern and sadness in his eyes. He didn't like seeing Ellandra hurting and here she was with a sort of pain he couldn't readily ease. He hugged her against him. "I love you, Elle. I wouldn't love you if you weren't such a beautiful person, inside and out. The gods wouldn't bind my soul to someone that wasn't worthy of my love."
Zia was quiet, but looked up at the young woman, a slight sadness also showing in its rainbow eyes.

Ellandra said nothing for a long moment, simply choosing to bury her face against Faolan's shoulder. She didn't have much of an answer to that, and it was a comfort to know that Faolan loved her despite her weaknesses, but she still felt rather pathetic for getting frightened and freezing when there had really been no reason to panic. Finally, she sighed and just sat there, snuggled up to her husband and with one arm still around Ziazan. She was calmer now, but. . . she still felt rather foolish and weak.
"But. . . I must seem so foolish, so ridiculous to - to get frightened by - by nothing. . ."

"It's not so foolish. I get scared all the time about silly stuff," Faolan told her, snuggling her close. "You're gonna probably be a little more worrisome with the baby anyway. It's natural."

Ellandra sighed softly, snuggling even closer to Faolan. "That's supposed to come later, though. This is just. . . me..." She paused for a moment and bit her lip, before finally lifting her head and peering up at Faolan. "I suppose Papa did a good job of scaring me away from everything; it's still affecting me. . ." She didn't elaborate on her statement at all; she didn't feel like going into detail.

Faolan looked down at her, thinking a moment, then smiled softly. "Your papa's gone, wife. I'm here now and you don't have to be scared anymore." He kissed her forehead gently.

Ellandra blinked up at Faolan, a blush spreading across her face. "Thank you, Faolan," she murmured, resting her head against his chest and relaxing. The fear had passed; all was well once again.

"No need to thank me," Faolan purred. "Think you might be up to following Da around now, or should I just send someone over to tell him we'll do it another day? He'll understand if we don't go."

"I'll be fine to go," Ellandra said, smiling softly. "But you could always tag along and carry me if I look like I'm about to sleep," she added teasingly, sliding out of his arms and getting up, placing her little spark back in its resting place with a wistful little smile. She knew it would emerge when it was ready, but she couldn't help hoping that would happen soon.

Fao watched her, playful smile tugging at his lips. "You sure, lass? We could make Zia tag along with Da and you and I can stay in bed."
Zia gave him a look. "I'm not going anywhere with Grandpa without you. He's . . . intimidating."

Ellandra srtoked hr little spark one last time, and nodded. "I'm sure; and don't worry, Ziazan, you don't have to go without Faolan," she said, tugging the young Alter into a quick hug. "I know how to make him come along, after all." And she winnked at Faolan, her eyes darting to his ears for just a moment, knowing he'd catch what she meant.
