"I..." He started, letting the word trail down into silence. "...I don't know. All I remember is pain, and white, and... And..." He closed his eyes in an emulation of fright, forcing his limp hands to shake at his side. "Do-Do you know where we are ?"

Lost and confused. Lost and confused. Lost and confused. He repeated to himself like a mantra.

Sei was good at this. Mik, on the other hand, was better off not opening his mouth if he could avoid it. If he did, he'd probably end up ruining the whole thing. Instead, he settled for a vacant expression, not looking at anything in particular, and hoping the other teen's idea worked.

The girl still looked wary, but wasn't about to bolt anymore. "You're at the Palace..." Sei's scared act was working; now she looked exasperated. "Of the King of Heaven?" She scowled. "You should be on the other side of the wall! Peasants," she started back through the trees. "Come on, I need to get you both to the guards, they'll get you where you need to be," she ordered the teens with the air of someone used to being obeyed.

Jackpot.

He thanked his lucky stars that he did not need to force blankness in his eyes - holding the oh-so-lost, scared, and completely confused expression on his face was challenging enough - and said nothing more, lowering his head. The girl was used to be obeyed, and it was exactly what happened - the blonde moved as she told him, asking no question, keeping the tremble of his hands going. That was also alot of work, oddly enough - he could not remember his hands ever shaking out of control before, and had to induce the movement on his own.

His concentration was kept sorely on being believable, and following the girl - he trusted that Mik would alert him if their cover was blown.

The other side of the wall? That wasn't good at all! It was good that the trick had worked, but Seung was somewhere in the palace, somewhere here. If the girl took them to the guards, and the guards took them to the wall, how were they going to get back in? The last thing they needed was for this to be harder!

As the girl started to lead them from the trees, Mik tried to catch Sei's eye while she wasn't looking, shaking his head. In an attempt to stall, he stopped after a couple of steps, and took a risk.

"K-King?" His attempt at stuttering was bad, and he almost winced at his own poor acting skills...and confused dead people and curiosity probably didn't go together in the first place. "Is there a Queen?" While he supposed there wasn't much of a chance she knew anything, any kind of information on Seung was better than what they had. Even if he had to ruin their charade to get it; he could apologize to Sei later.

The girl shot Mik a glare and snorted in contempt. "No. The last one died before I was born and there won't be another until the King dies." She turned around another tree, came to the path, and floated over the fence. "Stop stalling already," she ordered as she headed westward.

Oh what...

The stalling seems to have one of it's intended effect, however - being that Sei looks up at him, using some of his long bangs to hopefully hide the fact.

...Though with no pupils to speak of, the true focus of the fae's gaze is rather hard to tell.

Well, that was a spectacular failure. But the fact remained that they didn't want to be on the other side of the wall - of that much at least, Mikhail was sure. He just had to communicate that to Sei somehow, before the girl took them to the guards. It would be a lot easier if they only had her to worry about.

He glanced at the blonde again, then whined, "But I don't want to go to the other side of the wall."

The girl swirled around, multiple skirts rustling as she tapped her foot in annoyance. "You don't have a choice. You peasants don't belong on the Palace grounds, I don't even know how you could have ended up here." She crossed her arms and looked at them with suspicion in her eyes again. "And if you won't just come along, I'll bring the guards here and they will make you leave," she declared firmly.

For one rather scary moment, Sei's confused expression seemed to be much too genuine.

Though... he seemed to get it, then Mik spoke. Wrong direction, then...

But the girl was starting to get rather upset, and was making threats of calling the guards. And he did not like the idea of the two of them versus an army of guards.

Think, damnit...

Slowly, he let his steps stagger, and then stopped completely. Blinked once, twice, brow furrowed, as if trying to recall something important.

"I ended up here... because... because..." He blinked again. "...A message. For... the king of heaven. An important message, I bear for his Highness. And gifts, for the upcoming marriage."

Talk about of pulling something out of one's behind. But at this point, this seemed like the only thing that could work, beside running for it.

Sei knew all too well that running was not something he was good at.

Quite frankly, he'd been expecting Sei to just...paralyze her or something, rather than continue to try to lie. It was probably horrible of him to think that way, since she was just a kid, but it wasn't like they'd be hurting her. They needed to not end up on the other side of the wall, or with guards to worry about just yet.

If she did leave to bring the guards, the pair might have a window of time to get away, but then they'd be looked for. If Sei could paralyze her, they could hide her back in the trees and maybe have a little more before anyone knew they were here.

That was how Mik would do it, anyway. Hopefully it would occur to Sei if the new lie didn't work out.

((Last post of mine before I head to sleep for the night, got work early in the morning. I'll reply tomorrow once I get home again. ^.^ ))

Now the girl looked suspicious and scared instead of annoyed. Whatever ruse they had going was swiftly falling through. "S-since it's so important, I'll get the guards to bring you to him right away." Before she even finished the sentence, she launched off the ground and headed north towards a set of buildings. Her flight wasn't much faster than a swift walk, but as she was well over their heads, she assumed she was safe.

((With a +1 modifier to accuracy and a -1 to defense due to lack of agility, as discussed with Nimmy -- not sure if this need a roll, but doing it anyway.))

s**t.

It honestly looked like he had no other choice - as soon as the girl wasn't looking at his direction anymore, his hand want to one gun and, all trembling gone, shot toward the girl. By some miracle, the device made no sound, though the small bolt of energy that fired could be in no way considered stealthy.

His other hand, however, was very busy signaling Mik to just get a headstart at running.

Just in case.

Run? Sei wanted him to run? Where to? What from? This time, Mikhail made his own decision instead of listening to him (not that pretending to be dead and lost had been a bad idea, exactly, but in the end it hadn't worked out very well at all.). Rather than run away, he ran in the same direction the girl was headed - to either catch her when she fell, or to be that much closer to her if Sei missed.

Sei's aim was good, but the girl's style of flight was unpredictable. His shot grazed her arm close enough to make her shriek when she realized what happened. Then shriek again when she looked around for more possible shots and saw Mik running after her. She couldn't go any faster; instead she rose up about three feet, figuring he couldn't jump up to catch her.
