"Hmm." The male tapped his chin in thought. Should he show her, even if he really wanted to? She seemed harmless enough, but curious as well. And mother always said curiosity killed the cat. But heck, his father was still kicking so it mustn't be true! Besides, they weren't cats.

"I suppose I can, even if it's one spell or two. But to teach is another thing entirely, and I'm no teacher." He grinned bashfully to that lack of skill. His parents would make for better studies. And speaking of learning, the boy kitsu tilted his head as the girl explained her own limbs. And his jaw dropped in shock. "Only a few weeks? Really? Hn, you must have followed some blueprint to created them, right?" Goodness knows he'd need one else he'd have a mess of wires instead of wings.

Then his brows dropped and he pouted his lip while flicking his tail. "Oh really now? But what about this time of day, hm?" He almost felt challenged or belittled, even though her comment was nothing more than an observation. A side temper to his father's bloodline. "I'd like to wager my wings are better than any folds of metal and string." And he crossed his arms with a light huff, followed by a confident nod.

[Perhaps we should have a flight contest RP some time after we finish this one? XP]

"Just showing is fine, then. I would very much like to see what this 'magic' is." She faintly recalled her friend talking about "magic" and how some things just happened/were "magical", but she never really experienced what magic was, or even saw what it was. Her whole understanding of magic boiled down to just the word itself and nothing more.

"Huh? A blueprint? You mean like a plan?" She inquired curiously, then proceeded to answer the rest of his question, "If that's what you mean, then, no. I made them myself. I...really didn't have much else to do at the time." She really had nothing to do ever when she was in her cage. The most was listen to the radio, talk to the mechanical birds and every once in a blue moon talk to her one and only friend.

Her pale tails flickered curiously while the tips of her wings twitched subconsciously at the thought. Even though they aren't natural wings by any means, she still had confidence in them. "Then I'd like to wager mine that my 'folds of metal and string' can fly better than yours." She don't know why she felt this way about her creation, but she felt compelled to defend her creation.

"Really, right now?" The kitsu smoothed a paw through his long hair as he glanced around. Hm, just what to use was the question. Though yeah, first he needed to check something. Reaching his paw further, Edwin picked through the base of his heavy braid to find the one needed tool. And with a grin, he felt it and tugged the slender wand from his pale hair.

"Well, can't be of any use without this, now can I?" He smirked as he knelt down and picked up an autumn leaf, along with some dry soil. Ears tilted forward as Su described the details of her own traits. "Ah, so you didn't use any plan? No...drawings to know how it was to be made. How creative of you then, to make those!" He didn't question her management of time, considering it sounded casual enough. Heck not even he spent most of his time wisely.

A laugh bubbled from his throat and Edwin shook his head. "Haha, alright then, we'll have to put these wings to that test sometime. But for now, let me show ya a bit of what this magic is....." And he focused then on the earth held in his grip, pointing the narrow wand at the pile. With a quick whispered word, the small pile began to shiver and morph. The dirt covered the little leaf like a swarm of ants before there was a small 'pop'. Edwin smiled openly at the result, proud that it worked. "See there? That's just a tiny sample of what magic could do." And he extended out his paw to hand over the transformed object, a dainty and pale daisy.

When one has all the time in the world with nothing to do, mechanical wings like Su's would be a simple task as any. Each day passed by like any other, dull and devoid of any excitement. The least she could do was do something to entertain herself with in that giant metal cage of hers. She would definitely admit to having made prototypes first, and there were some failures along the way, but with her gift it made it all the more easier to build them.

Her eyes focused on the little leaf, watching as it shivered and shook like a cold newborn. She jumped at the little 'pop', surprised by the sudden noise. Then the leaf was suddenly changed. It morphed into a flower. This is what magic was? How fascinating! Her eyes widened at the marvelous feat. Certainly, even the least attentive of people could notice the change of expression on her face.

"How incredible! I wish I had a gift like yours! Is it a common gift? I am sure everyone in your family must possess a similar gift." A gift that wasn't too powerful that was feared. One that could have granted her freedom. But she wondered if her past would've been any different? Probably not considering the circumstances.

Dull and devoid of excitement? Edwin's life was anything but, considering his family roots. To hear such a thing would make no sense to the kitsu, and he'd inquire a sample of what such a lifestyle was just to understand. But he wasn't one to pry at strangers, and so he left Sue be about her quiet nature.

The boy gave a small laugh to the others amusement. It had been such a minor spell too, and yet the girl was so intrigued by it. "Heh, it is rather interesting, yeah? Mother taught me that one, I must admit." Kneeling awkwardly so not to tug on his braid, Edwin set to putting the flower's roots in some soft soil. Then he dusted the moist brown from his pale paws as he glanced up at Sue with a grin. "It's common yes, but only some bloodlines have it. And who knows? Maybe you have the same ability but never knew of it." At this theory, Edwin rubbed his chin. Hmmm, it would be an interesting detail to discover if she ever cared to.

"It's mostly through my mother's lineage. And my father is very advanced in alchemy...or science rather. So I guess me and my siblings are a weird blend of the two." Oh well, it was no bother to him. "What about your family? Were they all mechanics too?"
