Quickly turning his head to her, he nodded. "It's okay, I'm just not a fan of lots of people watching me try out." he explained, and his sister rolled her eyes. "You won't mess up, and it won't ruin your tryout!" she said, as if she reassured that to him constantly, and Jayce nodded in agreement.

Thali smiled and nodded. "I'm sure you'll do fine." She said, trying to reassure him. "It's not that much different than acting, is it?" She asked. "Trying out I mean.. My friend's daughter seems to do better at try outs than at the actual acting." She said with a grin.
Soon, the waitress came with their drinks, and set them on the table. "Food's almost ready." She promised, and took off again to take someone elses' order.

Zach snatched his glass of lemonade and chugged it, in hopes of it healing his voice. "It won't be back to normal that instantly." Alexis said, as Jayce seemed to encourage him. Chug! Chug! Chug!
With a loud sigh of relief, Zach finished the glass and set it back on the table.

Thali looked around, and took a sip of her Dr. Pepper. She glanced at two men--were they men? She didn't know. They might have been something quite different, from what she could tell. She gave a cheery wave and a smile in their direction.
"So what else do you like to do, besides act?" The elf asked, with a look of polite curiousity on her face. "Do you play sports?"

The three exchanged glances, then Alexis and Zach roared in laughter. If Jayce could, he would have done the same thing. "Zach?!" Alexis asked, hysterical. "In a sport?!" They realized how rude that appeared to be, and tried to stop laughing.
"Sorry," Alexis said, trying to stop laughing. "It's just Zach has the worst reflexes and athletic ability of all time." Her brother nodded. "Alexis is the sport person." he replied.

Thali blinked. "Oh, really?" She asked, interested. Being an elf, she had strong reflexes and could catch just about anything thrown at her. "So what do you do?" She asked. "Music, writing? Art? Do you have a hobby?" She paused. "Do you collect anything?" She thought of Vincent, who collected anything that had a shine or shimmer, like a crow.

Proudly, Zach crossed his arms. "Well," he said. "We three are in a band! I play the piano and sing," he pointed at Alexis. "She plays bass and is back up vocals," then pointed to Jayce. "And Jayce plays the drums and writes our music."

Thali looked interested, and was silently reminded of one of her favorite movies. She didn't say anything about it though. "Cool, a band." She said. "My son plays guitar, and sings--" She didn't realize how awkward it was for her to call anyone her son. She looked around sixteen. "Though, when he sings, he usually ends up putting people to sleep. Literally."

Alexis and Zach nodded as they listened to Thali talk, but Jayce couldn't help but to blink when the elf mentioned about having a son.
"Reminds me of Jigglypuff!" Zach said cheerfully, and Alexis fought to his her brother upside the head.

"Yeah, something like that." Thali agreed with a smile. "Except, Jigglypuff couldn't control emotions--he has to be really careful when he sings, or he.. well, you know. Think empathy, but the other way around. You really don't want him to sing you a love song. "

"We should sing more of those for our band." Alexis said dreamily, and Jayce nearly gagged on his sandwich. Noticing his attitude towards her idea, she pushed him. "Oh, knock it off!" she snapped.

"There are some pretty good love songs." Thali said, nodding at Alexis. "The newer ones aren't quite as good as the old, but.." She shrugged. Elves always chose the old over the new. She smiled at Jayce. "Of course, some people just don't see the beauty in them." She teased.

"Singing a few wouldn't be bad once in awhile." Zach said, starting to like the idea. Rolling his eyes, Jayce signed, But the drum will be too slow.
"Oh, quit whining!" Alexis replied. "Not every single song can be fast and hardcore. Hey, Thali, do you know sign language?"

Thali paused a moment, and looked like she was thinking. Then she signed; Some love songs have a fast beat. They don't have to be slow. It was true, she was a little slow and hesitant at signing, but it was clear she knew what she was doing. It was if she hadn't done it in a while.
She turned to smile at Alexis. "I know some--I was fostering a deaf child a few months back, only for a couple days. He taught me a lot."

Alexis chuckled. "That's good, we don't have to translate for Jayce." She gave him a nudge. "That means your sign can't be so sloppy anymore!" she warned him.
