Bishop had been sucking her drink through a straw while watching Kaimi and nearly choked as she sucked too much in and tried to breath at the same time upon seeing the other girl's magic at work. The older girl had not only made the plant better but made it blossom as well. " That's so cool, hwo did you learn it can you make flowers out of nothing?" Bishop asked excitedly. part of the girl supposed she should have known though after all the necklace she wore with the flower Kaimi had given her a year ago was magic enough to still smell the same as back when she got it.
Keen owl like eyes had seen her friend's discomfort at her earlier bit of the question and decided to drop it, at least for now. Bishop wanted to be with Kaimi and make her happy not upset her.

"Not out of nothing." Kaimi returned to their table. "I have to touch something they can grow on." She grinned. "Cool, huh? If thats part of growing up I guess I'm okay with it."

Bishop nodded " I can't do anything special yet." Well ok she had damn good vision and could see in the dark but that certainly didn't feel special " maybe when I'm as big as you." Then they really could go on adventures together and do great things and become famous.

"But you have cool wings." Kaimi pointed out. She'd always loved Bishop's headwings, been jealous that the other girl had an outward showing of something special. Unlike herself who looked completely normal. Smiling, she reached out and brushed one of Bishop's feathers. "Maybe someday you'll learn how to fly." She added.

" Maybe" Bishop murmured shyly " At least they keep me shaded and cool in the summer sun." This was a major plus for such an active child." Not very good for helping my balance though" the girl said referencing their recent tumble. Still all in all she was pretty happy with who she was and how she looked, especially now that she'd finally grown up and looked as old as she felt.

"What was it like when you grew?" Kaimi asked curiously, wondering if it was the same for everybody. "When I grew the first time it felt all pully and weird. And I dont really remember the second time, it happened without me really noticing."

" I dunno" Bishop admitted and blushed a bit " I was sleeping and then when I woke up my pajamas didn't fit" It had been a bit painful to get the tight clothing off but she didn't think that was what Kaimi referred too " I was all wobbly for a bit though becuase I wasn't used to being as tall and stuff." The owl like girl looked thoughtful for a moment " Rook said the jewels on his arms and head glowed when he grew and that it felt funny." Maybe more magical people grew the same than non magical people.

"Well I'm glad you did." Kaimi said warmly, grinning at her friend. "I missed you." She added. Even though she'd said it before, the sentiment was still true.

The ginger haired girl just smiled " Well now that I'm bigger you won't have to miss me ever again becuase I can go almost anywhere." Having spent so very long as a small girl with her mind ever advancing Bishop was mature enough as a child to go places and see things she'd been too small for before, not to mention that her mother trusted her enough to let her out of her sight.

"I'm glad. So many things have been going on." Kaimi let out a dramatic sigh. "I got kidnapped and then I grew and now there's this guy..." She trailed off helplessly with a shrug. "You'll have to keep me sane."

" you got kidnapped?" Bishop's eyes were wide as she loudly whispered this shocking news " like for real kidnapped?" the younger girl felt horrible, maybe if she'd been older she could have protected kaimi or helped her or something. the idea that there was a boy in kaimi's life was peculiar but bishop was more focused on the kidnapped part of the convo.

Nodding solemnly, Kaimi repressed a shudder at the memory. "By vampires, even." She said, aiming for a wry smile though it came out more bitterly than she'd intended. "They locked me in a box, but I got out. It was awful." Aside from her mother, Kaimi hadn't talked about what had happened in depth with anyone. The release of admitting it felt good, as if some of the power the memory held over her weakened.

Kaimi shook her head slowly. "I don't think it works that way. It's not like in the movies, it's not like it should be." She lowered her voice a little, not sure she wanted to impart this new knowledge to her best friend. "The good guy doesn't always win."

Bishop was highly disturbed by this concept " but .. the law?" Police were supposed to solve everything it's why you had to obey them. If they couldn't help her best friend becuase good guys didn't always win then what good were they at all. " Is there anything I can do? " It might be after the fact but Bishop still wanted to do anything she could for Kaimi. A young girl she might be but that didn't make her wholly useless.
