Lethe, clutching vainly at Dusty's hand and hunched down a little, suddenly looking a little wild and feral herself, looked around the room. The effect was immediate: her spine straightened again, and she let go of Dusty's hand and ran her fingers through her tangling hair.

It was odd that they still hadn't run across anyone else yet, but Lethe was not entirely sure she wanted to find them. This was a safe place: they could stay here and wait for someone to find them. "We should search this room too, for any clues," she told Dusty, already wandering over to the scattered stacks of media. "--Well, I can do that. Will you watch the doors, please?"

A television! This was good. Televisions could be controlled. Lethe searched for the remote, half-hoping the latest episode of Desperate Housewives or something along those lines was on.

Sometimes the pain of need would become unbearable. Callix careened carelessly from room to room, sniffing the air with a famished fury. His wings tried to knock back any horror that may come too near, though he did sustain some nicks and cuts from flailing corpses and animated furniture.

He was about to claw past the entertainment room completely, until a certain presence occupied his senses. Feverishly, he turned to threshold that held the presence. Two there, one alive, one hollow. The scent of alive filled his feral nostrils, warmth and light filling his vision. Dusty was of no concern to him (though, you know, being Dusty and all, she should have been.). Lethe was all that mattered now, and he crawled along the floor to try and get to her.

"Iwillhaveyou." he hissed through clenched teeth, reaching out to her.

Lethe instantly recognized the voice, but the words -- the tone--

Stumbling back, she swerved on her heel in a vain attempt to get a look at their new visitor. "Callix...?" She called, confused, not knowing what to do as the red-haired Fa'e came careening towards her.

She instantly became aware of all the exits, open doors that yawned into darkness, and all the little cuts and nicks that cast shadows against her friend's skin in the dim light. She was aware of things she needed to do: grab something. Curl up defensively. Kick him away.

Her body was not listening, and her thoughts blurred together too fast for her to make any sense of herself anymore.

"Wait! Callix, wait, stop, I don't think you're--Dusty! DUSTY!"

The sound arrested Dustin's attention at once; her eyes caught Callix's visage, disheveled and scruffy as it was, and her sword came up. Any other action, she might require an order from her master for; but she knew her purpose, and that was to protect.

(The fact that Lethe seemed to be asking her to do this anyway, just meant she could take great zeal in her work.)

The sword swished down towards the incubus's face, a calculated attack to back him off while the deerkitten interposed her body between the monster and her Lady and Liege. Her face, passive and unbothered, tilted down to the red-headed boy as she stomped one hoof lightly at his hand on the ground, reasserting her control. She would not abide his threat, and the only way she had to communicate that now was through her attacks. If he misread it as anything other than stalwart determination, then perhaps it would be his life that was the price for it.

The sword was just barely avoided as the incubus backed up as quickly as he could. The swoosh of air the sword had made distracted him enough that he didn't move his hand in time. A solid, and heavy, hoof came down on his hand and he cried out in pain, snatching up his damaged limb and cradling it against his chest. He hissed and bared his teeth at the deerkitten, wanting nothing more than to kill the toddler to get at Lethe.

Dusty's fierce eyes locked with his and the Incubus hissed again, as if that would stop the toddler. Another series of experimental swipes and Callix blinked, wings falling to the floor.

"Dustin? Qu'est-il arrivé?" he asked quietly, silently shocked at the state of the deerkitten and the HQ.

Lethe turned briefly from the battle, knocking stacks of DVDs and video games over as she frantically searched for something -- anything -- to defend herself if it came to it.

She paused reflexively when Callix spoke, having just decided to try throwing the small boxes at him instead, to better hear his words over the clatter. She climbed up onto the table, standing up, and finally turned back to eye him warily, having shoveled an armful of the makeshift 'weapons' into her skirts.

"Who are you? What are you doing here?!" She demanded of the creature, trying to look her most threatening but ultimately deciding to leave that up to Dustin, as she seemed to have a better handle on the beating up part of the whole torture and interrogate thing.

Callix's back was to the television, silhouetting his form in the eerie light of the television's static. As he backed away from the deerkitten, he became aware of a strange dampness on the ground near the television, a thin, whitish-grey liquid that was seeped into the beige carpet. There was strangely no smell to it- not even the wet, mildew scent that normal water would let off after having been soaked into a carpet for so long. Strange.

Leveling the wooden blade towards the older Fa'e, as though she might stab out and impale him on the blunt end at the slightest of moves, Dustin stared blankly to the boy that was supposed to be her friend. No recognition, concern, or confusion crossed her face; only a direct purposefulness. She did not, however, leap out to strike again. Callix was of little danger now.

Callix leaned back, using his uninjured hand to prop himself up. He could've sworn he hadn't torn off some fingernails while running for his life. His fingers were raw and throbbed, and the hand Dusty stepped on? He shook it to try and relieve the pain. But whatever he'd happened to land in made him jerk, crawling away from the weeping television. "Quel est ceci?!" he cried, horrified. What was this stuff?

He didn't back up enough to be near Dustin, but the toddler's unresponsiveness worried him. Turning around to face her, he tried to piece together his torn shirt. "Dusty? Etes-vous bien, mon frere?" When she did not respond, he shook his head in confusion.

"Lethe? What happened here?"

"You," Lethe drawled, "Are on trial."

Dropping the books, she jumped from the table to the floor and began to pace expertly from one end of the room to the other. All aspects of the HQ -- the rooms, the missing Seung, her chicken-headless Guardian -- had temporarily been brushed from her immediate thoughts.

Finally she halted and pointed a single finger dramatically at the red-haired Fa'e. "You, Callix... Fa'e... um... PROMETHEUS, are accused of foul play, and ripping my dress, and being really, really weird!"

With a fizzle, the static in the television was broken for a few moments, just long enough to blare loudly- "DUN DUN DUUUUUUUN!", then return to its regularly scheduled fizzing.

Blandly, Dusty stood her post. No doubt, she was waiting for an order from Lethe before taking any further action, in regards to Callix or anything else about the situation.

"Trial? Qu'ai-t-je fait?" Callix looked offended, as if he would rip anyone's dress for the sake of ripping a dress! He was shredded himself! At least Lethe was mostly clothed. His memories of the happenings of that night were dim in his mind, but he vaguely remembered that woman from earlier and Seung...

Poor Seung! He'd left her alone after trying to do battle with the corpse woman! "Lethe, have you seen Seung? I was attacked and pulled away from her... And then..." He shook his head. As more time passed, the more memories cleared up, like a fog lifting. And what perplexed him most was the fact that he wasn't afraid of the way he'd been acting.

But he dare not say that to either of them.

"What happened to Dustin?"

Lethe, though momentarily startled by the sudden flash of music, thankfully forgot to jump. See?! Even the television agreed with her! "Yes, a trial!" She repeated forcefully, wagging her outstretched finger at him with the slight annoyance that he was so easily changing the subject.

"No, I haven't seen you -- you were the one who ran away with her -- and left me and Dusty behind -- and then you attacked us!" Well, Dustin also attacked Callix, but that was ok: Dustin was exempted from trial because Lethe said so.

"Dusty is--" but she had to halt and break off there, fixing the smaller girl with a confused look. To be honest, she had no idea what had happened to her. "There was a thing. And then it trapped Dusty, and it.. it ate her. Then it puked her back up, and she beat it up, and since then I guess she and her tongue are mad at each other because she hasn't been talking."

Callix tilted his head. "I did not attack you. It was... It was... Honestly, je ne sais pas ce que c'était." The child smoothed his hair over an ear, the throbbing of his hand subsiding for now. The television made his skin crawl, as did the fact that Lethe was now afraid of him. He frowned and tried not to sink into self-reflection. Now was not the time to wonder why Lethe would resist his advances.

Dusty's unresponsiveness had to be pushed to the back of his mind. He didn't come here with Guardians, but the other two did. And whoever the woman that attacked him was, she was more than likely still around. He'd give her a piece of his mind...

"Avez-vous peur de moi?" he asked seriously, not aware of the fact that the question came out in French. He let it drop, deciding not to explain further. There was no point. "We have to find a way out, oui?"
