Ifrit gave a curt nod, turning abruptly and padding out to the center of the charred field. "Well, that's a useful skill, at times," he called back as he stopped and sat in the dry, charred grasses. "Perhaps you should take a moment and look all around this field then, and realize that there is new growth under all of these cinders." While it seemed that he was being kinder to her, his words still had an arrogant tone to them, and his words sounded extremely pedantic.

Hinata stood and nodded as Ifrit spoke. Weather he actually wanted her to look or not, she figured he did.
"Byakugan!"
Once again, veins grew around her eyes as she used her skill. She scanned the whole of the area. Indeed, just as the fire lion had said, there was new life everywhere.
"You are right...new life...it is everywhere beneath the burnt ground..."
Her eyes returned to normal as she smiled at him.

"Of course I'm right," he commented casually, tossing the sentiment aside as if he was used to the idea. Her skill fascinated him, though he wouldn't show it. Even though there were many questions coursing through his mind, he hid them all. Anything relevant, he would find out eventually.

Hinata simply nodded. She watched as the flames of his mane and tail flickered, and wondered if others were burned on contact, or if he could control it enough...
The huge wings that formed from his shoulder blades might seem scary to most, but they were magnificent to her. Her webbed ears twitched as she pondered what the feeling of flight could be. She of course preferred water...

While Ifrit rarely felt insecure - he was, after all, an Aeon and thus immortal - he wondered if this lioness could be his ruin. She was a water lion, and never was he a fan of it. Still, he watched her carefully, a but curious despite this mild worry.

Hinata hesitantly padded closer until she could look up at him sort of, then sat back down. "You...you never have to fight to be stronger...do you...? You are just...so strong...that nobody could look down on you or...say your worthless..."
She stopped for a moment, hoping she was not sounding foolish. "I...I mean...you are fierce...powerful...you look dangerous...sound menacing..."

Ifrit could feel his ego being fed, and gave a bit of a devious smile, "Well, of course not. I'm among the most powerful on entities, and, I think, the most powerful of them all." He weighed that a moment, then continued, "And worthless? No, no one has, certainly, but no one ever should. Even the dead is not worthless, and since that is 'nothing' then everything not dead cannot be worthless if absolute 'nothing' is not worthless."

Hinata looked up at him, her eyes open a tad wider, as if in shock. She felt as if he'd told her directly that she was not worthless. Nobody had done that before...not even her own family...
"Even..me...? I'm not...worthless...? Really...? So many others think I am...." She lowered her head once more, webbed ears back against her head.

Ifrit huffed, smoke puffing from his nostrils as he did so, "Certainly not," he said, almost as if he had been offended. "Judging from that power you showed me, I can't imagine that anyone would call your worthless. I can see it being quite useful."

Hinata gets up and pads closer, then sits down almost right in front of him, looking up at him. Her pale eyes were now filled with such happiness. "Really...? Is there a way...it can be used to help you...? Nobody has ever been so kind to me..."

Ifrit felt his mind race with confusion, but continued to watch her with stern eyes. "I don't think our personal powers get along together," he stated flatly, hoping it wouldn't cause her to shrink back into herself while he was simply being honest.

Hinata nodded softly, but stayed where she was. She was tired of hiding...and Ifrit had said nothing to hurt her. "My Byakugan...can see for miles in any direction...my control of water also allows me to freeze things...and I can heal others and myself..."

"I can see that being of great asset to your family," he said coolly, sitting back now with a loud crunch beneath him. "I'm not sure I understand why you are alone... Healers are always in great demand in prides, especially in those close to the Hyena lands." It was true - healers were always desired in prides, and could life comfortable, if not occasionally stressful lives in almost any pride with a decent king.
Then again, she'd make a very suitable queen as well.
He pushed the thought from his head, a bit disgruntled with himself. She was still a water lioness, and he was of fire. It simply couldn't happen.
"Still..."

((The 'still' was a bit of an inner monologue, like a finishing thought to his thought process.))
"Well! I suppose you've been lucky to meet me first," he declared, puffing his chest out again and huffing a bit of smoke through his nose. "I do not lie - so perhaps you will begin to think differently of yourself, though the changing of thoughts takes time." His words were very self-gratifying, as they usually were, and he was pushing aside various thoughts as he said these words. He was deflecting himself from himself.
