"My mother." He stated softly, his eyes downcast on the water. "She raised me on her own." His voice was almost mute as he spoke, his mind seeming to drift into a rather dark place before he finally broke himself from the thought. "It was long ago though, and I've brought dishonor to her. I'm not saying that I am without love, or that I was raised without it. I know what love is Milady, I have not completely given up on it.. My mother was a good lioness, kind and upright. I think you would have liked her.." Even though he knew relatively little about this female, he was quite sure of that fact for her spirit was a little similar to the female who raised him.

"I do not see how you could have brought dishonor to anyone.. But then, you have not told me much.." She shrugged. "And since I see you to be a good and truthful male, I'll not stand to hear of such things." She paused, smiling gently. "She sounds like a lovely lioness... I would like to think my mother was like that.. But she was a little too young, I think... And..." She trailed off with a shrug. "It doesn't matter now... I am my own creature, as she is hers. We deal the hand the gods give us, do we not?"

He smiled though it lasted for only a brief moment before it washed completely away. "Its the mistakes you make that breed a mature and admirable lion or lioness. Perhaps your mother was young when she had you, perhaps she was immature at a point, and mayhaps she has learned from her mistakes. That is the point of having your own sin to deal with." He finally let his shoulders relax, bringing himself into a more comfortable position as his tail curled up around himself. At her statement of not letting him speak of such things, he frowned, turning his head in her direction, "...I killed someone... someone I shouldn't have.. let us just leave it at that..." His voice trailed off. "...In doing so I defied my order and have been banished."

Naha was not one to 'leave it at that'. She frowned firmly at him. "Someone you shouldn't have? Very well, was it a mistake? Was it an ACCIDENT? Are you SORRY that it happened?" She chuffed at him disapprovingly, as her father had when she was a cub. "Listen here, Angel-Face, because I'm only going to say this once. There comes a point when you have to admit that for all your wings and lofty pride, you're a mortal lion. And you can make mistakes. This sounds to me like a terrible tragedy. I don't think you did it on purpose. I think it was an accident. And I think the best way for you to pay homage to that lion, would be to strive to live your life in the best way possible from there on out." She smacked the water firmly with her tailfeathers to emphasize her point. "Rather than moping around acting like you're the one who died."

Quirking one brow, Jeinaige eyed her carefully before continuing, "Was it a mistake? No, I killed him proudly, with the lust of battle. He was MY father, the very angel I loathed for so many years." He stated with more conviction than he ever had. "He had become corrupt and had led his clan to be just as corrupt. I tried to convince them otherwise, going completely against morals and ethics in the clan to teach them differently and because of that he found it as a challenge and tried to kill me... I fought back and by pure luck I won. The other council members stripped me of my title, of my heritage and cast me out. Am I sorry for it? No. But I take my punishment with the weight it deserves for rules are not made to be broken, no matter how horrible those rules are." He flicked his tail, even despite his raise in attitude he wasn't angry at all with her for addressing it. She seemed sincerely concerned which to him was a rare thing. No one had ever truly cared about him in a long time. "I thank you for your concern... but I'm not the noble beast you're trying to paint me as." He shook his head back and forth.

"Who is ths 'Council' to blame one for becoming a beast to slay a monster?" She challenged, pride glinting in her eyes as she stood up to him, tail lashing back and forth. "It sounds to me as you did them a service, one they should be grateful for, in the slaying of your own Kin. And I doubt it was an easy thing for you, which is what makes you NOT the monster you claim to be." She growled at him in disapproval. "You seem pretty damned noble to me, to be sitting there beating yourself up for trying to save a pride that isn't even grateful for your sacrifice!" She paced back and forth for a moment, thinking better on her feet. "I'm damned glad that I never met this 'Pride' of yours, I'd give them an earful and THEN SOME!"

As she ended her dramatical arguments he couldn't help but let out a slight chuckle at her. She was adorable in her own way, he couldn't help but admit that. Admirable even. "I'm afraid that not everyone agrees with your brand of politics and honor." He stated as his eyes wandered over her. "The council was the one who appointed my father as the overseerer of our pride." Shaking his head, he noticed how agitated she was over his words to her. Smiling, he watched her for a moment, finding some small comfort in her passion. That was truly rare in this day of age anymore. "Despite that... I say... don't lose it.. ever. Its rare to meet someone like that.."

Honestly, males. If she lived a hundred years, and met a thousand of them, she was sure she'd never understand their way of thinking. Here she was defending him, and he was laughing at her! "I am a Princess, if there is one thing I know, it is politics and honor." She said stiffly. "And it seems to me this Council is just as corrupt as the King they appointed... Hardly worthy of the name 'Angels'... I am glad I never made forays into the mountains like my friends.. I likely would have gotten kicked back here for beating up one of those pompous-winged wild asses..." She grumbled at him, but the corner of her mouth pulled up in a smile. "I won't. It is part of who I am."

For a brief moment Jeinaige let a small smirk turn at the corners of his mouth. The female had fire, a fire he hadn't felt in ages. It felt decent, inspiring almost. However, as quickly as the thoughts began to twirl at his head he let them fade, it would do no good for him to get angry over what happened to him, the past was just what it was. Though he had to admit that he hadn't much moved on from it either. "Yes.. a princess you are, it shows very well in your breeding." He stated as a compliment as his tail flicked about. The way he handled things showed that he himself had had his own conditioning in the manner, however, his had become more of a hindrance than salvation as he had almost lost all of his former glory over the years. "I wish I could say the same about myself, but perhaps I am too old.. and too near to giving up." He tossed his shoulders back in a shrug as though it didn't bother him, truth was.. in some small amount it did.

He was laughing at her! She could see the curl of a smile on his maw, and as much as she wanted to get her back up about it, she let it be. Let him laugh at her. It was how she felt, and she couldn't -wouldn't- change that. What his pride thought was wrong, all wrong, and completely unfair. She hated that. "I think you will do better in the Free Lands rather than that stuffy old pride anyway." She said sharply, sitting and wrapping her tail about her paws. "There is far more to do and see here, and those you meet will not hold against you the actions you took to save those you held dear. Most likely they too will think it foolishness of those others to be so ungrateful." She frowns for a moment. "However, if you do get lonely for the company of your own kind.. There are some here and there in the lands.. I know one who was a young Prince, but for he did not wish to follow his father's rule and so came here.. He is quite kind."

He watched her actions for a long while, and then when it came his turn to speak he hesitated. His ears flinched slightly and then slowly dropped closer to his head as he took a few steps closer to her. "..Tell me..." He began rather slowly, trying his hardest to not sound accusing nor upset about what he felt was going on. "..Do I offend you Naharia? You seem rather put off by me. Have I done something wrong to you?" For once he meant it genuinely, of all the lions he had met none of them had gained any respect at all from him, she was somehow different and though he couldn't pinpoint why he didn't exactly want to drive her off.

She watched him approach warily, her ears flicking back and forth. If he got too close, or seemed to aggressive, she'd be gone. She wasn't going to endure that again... But he seemed like he had a good heart, underneath all that doubt and sorrow. "You haven't yet." She replied, her tone still having a slight bite to it. "It is not necessarily 'you' that I am put off by, perhaps your skewed vision, your absurd self-doubt, your irritating habit of seeming to believe the idiots you faught to protect? Yes... All of those things irk me. But that is not YOU." She frowned, one ear pinning back as she softened. "At least, that's not what I think of you..."

He lowered himself back on his hind legs, his shoulders raising slightly above his head as his eyes darted back and forth. Sighing a little, his tail wriggled back and forth as he now had more distance between himself and her. "If that is not what you think of me... than what is?" His head slowly raised, his eyes now drilling in her direction.

Naharia considered him with a frown and a narrowing of her gaze. Oh, he was an irritating one, there was no arguing with that. Was there a way to put all of this into words? It was idiotic he kept beating himself up over something that was long over and done with... Males. "I hardly think I know you well enough to think too much, much less to share exactly what that thinking may be." She returned with a faint smile and a flash of her own gaze. "So I think I'll be keeping that to myself, for now."
