"I love peanut butter and jelly." Kaimi grinned, taking another massive bite and getting a little jelly smear on her cheek. "So how have you been keeping yourself busy here? Now that you're not spying on Thali anymore?"

Jacen smiled. "I'm glad." He muttered. He'd always felt awkward about not being able to cook--he wasn't talented in very many areas. "Um. Well, mostly I've been learning about Gaia." He said. "Learning about the stuff in my hotel room, watching tv, walking places. It's really rather lonely though.."

"You've got me." Kaimi grinned at him between bites. "We should really introduce you to more people, though. Then you'll have lots of friends." She cocked her head and looked at him thoughtfully. "How long are you staying?" She asked a little wistfully.

Jacen smiled. "Yeah, I got you." He said. "But I'm really shy, and not good around other people. Maybe if I met more, I'd be able to overcome my shyness or something?" He shrugged. "As for how long I'm staying..." He paused, and looked at her.
"As long as I'm in love with you." He didn't even blush. He said it so bluntly.

It took a moment for Kaimi to remember to close her mouth which was sort of gaping open. While Jacen, for once, didn't seem inclined to blush Kaimi turned faintly pink both with suprise and pleasure and more suprise. She'd known he liked her, she liked him too! But in love was the sort of thing people fell into in movies and stuff. It didn't happen to girls like her. The floral scent that followed her everywhere became suddenly more vibrant. "Jacen, I..." She wasn't sure what she was supposed to say or do. Was he going to kiss her? Was this how it happened?

Jacen paused, being inexperienced in love, he didn't know what to do. His mouth opened and closed, similar to a goldfish as he struggled for the right words to say. They just weren't there.
He needed an alternative. He leaned in towards Kaimi, and with a gentle hand, wiped the smear of jelly off her face. "There." He grinned. "Beautiful as ever."

Her blush grew deeper for a moment, she was sure he was going to kiss her! But he just rubbed the jelly off her face. Kaimi felt both relieved and a little bit dissapointed. She smiled though, some of the tension having been broken. "Thanks..." Tilting her head towards him, she searched for what to say and settled on small talk. "Tell me why you hate Ben so much."

Jacen frowned slightly at the idea. "Alright." He said, with a nod. "The first time I was sent to find the Princess, long after Vate left, and Averi decided he had fallen; I reached Thali's home. The ground was covered in snow, it couldn't have been more than fifteen degrees." He shrugged. "The Princess wasn't home. Ben had kicked her out."
He paused, and continued. "She was pregnant, and he threw her out into the cold." The dark elf's normally bright eyes became frosty. "He accused her of cheating on him--and she didn't. Thali's always lived up to her name. There's never been someone as loyal as she is." He paused, and swallowed the silent anger that was pushing itself out--like a volcano before it erupts.
"No one deserves to be treated the way he treated her." He finished. "He deserves my hate."

Frowning, Kaimi nodded. "I'd be angry if someone treated one of my friends like that too." She agreed. "I just don't understand why she's so happy with him. I mean, she seems really happy." The girl shrugged. Understanding relationships like that was far beyond her, it seemed.

Jacen shrugged. "I don't understand it either." He offered. "I think it's called love. Granted, he seems to treat her well when he's not in a foul mood. As long as she's happy--but I won't forgive him for what he did." He paused. "I won't forget that he made her cry."

"My mom doesn't have a boyfriend. Or a husband." Kaimi said thoughtfully before shrugging. "It's never seemed to bother her, though." She gave him a teasing little grin. "Maybe men are just more trouble than they're worth." She added, mostly to see his reaction.

Jacen frowned slightly. "I'm not trouble.." He started, before noticing her grin. "You're teasing me." It wasn't fair, how come everything she said effected him so much? Why did he have to take everything to heart?
"And...If I do cause trouble, I can guarentee that I'm worth it." The elf said, easily teasing. "I'm worth it."

"Are you?" Kaimi asked softly, her tone sounding thoughtful. And then the brief moment of melancholy was gone and she grinned brightly at him again. "Want to try building a sandcastle or something?"

Jacen smiled at her, and nodded. "Sure." He said. "I've never actually made one--do they actually look like castles?" He didn't see how sand could stick together like that. Maybe if it was wet.
"I'll be back." He took one of the pails he'd brought, and headed for the water.

"They do if you're good at making them." Kaimi answered. While he headed towards the water she went closer to the shoreline to where the sand was already wet and started making piles. She didn't have much sand castle experience either, but it couldn't be that hard. Could it?
