Vinny shrugged. "I didn't know it either, until Mom told me. We didn't even know Mom was an elf until she let Dad in on the secret."
"Er?" Reiya repeated. "Er?" She sounded inquisitive, and probably would have tilted her head if she could have.
"Ear." Vinny said, looking at his sister. That didn't keep the baby from chanting her new word.

Vinny blinked at Ty for a moment. "But she won't learn if she's not taught." He said. "Hearing other people speak is how babies learn. Right? I think that's why people use those silly voices around them."
Reiya was growing bored of Ty's ear, and closed two tiny fists on something silver. "'Air, air!" She cried in delight. She certainly knew that word. "'Air!"

"Huh? Whatcha got there?" Tykier readjusted Reiya so that she didn't fall.

Reiya giggled at Ty. " 'Air!" She repeated for his benefit. She gently tugged on the older boy's hair. "'Air! Air!" She gave a gentle pull everytime she said the word.
Vinny smiled at his friend. "She's adopted you." He said with a giggle.

"Oh, so she did now, eh?" He smiled at her while she was tugging on his hair, not feeling a damned thing. Tykier looked back towards Vinny, "I guess you're right..."
Ty felt a tickle up his nose again, he gave the baby back to Vinny, and sneezed, "Man, do I hate allergies..." He snuffed.

Reiya frowned as she was handed to her brother, and promptly took her favorite position--trying to take Vinny's horns. "Orns." She told him matter-of-factly, just as she always did.
"Allergies? Lame." Vinny said with a frown. "Hope they go away soon."

Vinny laughed. "You know, I think she does." The boy said, nodding in agreement. This dislodged Reiya's hands from Vinny's horns, but the infant quickly took hold of his head wings.
"'Ings." She said. "Ings." Vinny looked at Ty and rolled his eyes.

Vinny grinned at his friend. "She wants everything. And believe me, she didn't learn that from me." Okay, so maybe she had. But he didn't have to admit it.
Reiya looked over at Ty and reached for his wing-. "Ing." She told them excitedly. " 'Ig wing!"
