There's only 4 LA on the pixie. Like a doppleganger. Any more, and it's really not worth the tradeoff.
I think 4 PB for 2 LA/racial hit die is a balanced economy as it is- it still gives people access to nice stats, but makes them work for anything really big. 4 for 1, and I don't think it would be worth it, really, but that's just my opinion.
I picked the pixie because it's got some very neat abilities, and given that we're in a low magic setting, every inherent advantage helps. I'd rather have a pixie who transforms into a human, then visa versa, because of how the DFA's humanoid shape class feature works.
Besides, I've got more ideas for fitting an evil pixie in with a good group then an evil human with a good group. Not to mention, it'd fit with your little treatise on alignment- evil can do good and visa versa. Really, it's been a long time since I've had the opportunity to play an evil character who wants to save the world.
So it's pretty good.

How are you treating powers such as expansion/compression on smaller/larger targets? Are the bonuses absolute, or would a pixie (for instance) receive a +16 bonus to AC for being turned into a fine creature?
I'm thinking that rather than play a half ogre I might play a pixie. They get bonuses in the right places AND get free weapon finesse. Most of my damage comes from Stormguard Warrior anyhow.
Compression will be my main defensive buff as a Psychic Warrior, with tasty +6 on attack rolls and AC. Although it might be a good idea to take advantage of the Pixie's INSANE charisma and go Wilder. I seem to remember an ACF that replaced something with Expanded Knowledge feats?
I have a few options. I could stick with the Phrenic Half Ogre, or go with pixie. Either way, I'll be a bloodstorm ballista of doom.
Hey Magnus, maybe we could work something out?

I could work something out, sure.
Right now I'm actually working on Ramu's backstory. I mean, he's evil, but it's the evil of self interest and whatnot- he certainly doesn't go "I'm feeling evil today". I expect he'll fit in with the party straight up, and working up some sort of mutual previous history would be well within par.
If you do decide to go for a pixie, then it's looking like a Pixie party- with you, myself, and Kaelic. Very thematic.

- 8 PB for pixie approved.
An all pixie party would be funny, but i'd like to leave options oppen for now.
size bonuses are based on your actual size. So yes, you can be 3 inches tall and have like +16.
I'm going to regret that, aren't i? ah, well. we'll see.

This information's been sent to Shoestring already, but I'm probably going to go something like Crusader//Incarnate, aiming for good on the incarnate side. Still doing a little more mulling over options and personality to go with it.
Knowing me, I'll probably end up being either a half-orc or a goblin, heh.

As a pixie it'll hardly matter whether or not I have +16 size bonus to attacks, seeing as how I have Su greater invisibility and other copious amounts of bullshit.
I'm kinda thinking about taking Phrenic on my pixie half and not LA buying it off, because it's a totally cool template.
Working on character sheet... I just had the most devious thought ever. I think it would be awesome if I made this character like a little sister. If only I could cast Consumptive Field.
I must do this. I will play the insane little girl of doom!

Long ranty post ends with a question: How do you feel about Aptitude weapons?
Basic build structure in place, now I just have to worry about getting my cool on!

Just for the sake of ease of reading I'll put my questions into this one post:
Aptitude weapons: Yea, or nay?
Battle Dancer: Yeah or nay?
if no to battle dancer: Aescetic Wilder, instead of sorceror?
PrCs desired: Bloodstorm Blade (at least 4 levels), Master Thrower (at least1 level), War Mind (exactly 5 levels, unless aptitude weapons are okayed, in which case none). May decide on a Psionic Prc, but may also not.
Base Classes desired: Wilder, Warblade, Ninja(possibly), Psychic Warrior(dip on my martial side of the gestalt for feats).
Wilder: I recall an ACF that replaces Volatile Mind with Expanded Knowledges. Yea, or nay?
I think that's all of my questions.

Please no phrenic. Pixies have enough to keep track of without tacking on a dozen SLAs. Wilder is not a playable class. You may take feat, conveniently named "wilder" to make a Psionic class CHA based. No battle dancer. If at all possible, keep the psionics stuff on one side of the build, because cross stacking really doesn't jive with the backstory at all. Do you really need CHA to AC on top of everything else? You can have INT to AC using Kung Fu Genius, if you like, but that's about as far as i'm going. I really need to go muck with ninja and figure out how i want to mod it in this campaign. Dread necromancer's are barred by law from making undead out of formerly sentient peoples. That means anything with int 3+. You can summon undead freely, however, and i will add in a spell that convert recently minted undead into something vaguely similar to necropolitans.... that's kinda a plot thing. basically, there was a huge war where undead armies were used, and afterward those undead who still had some link to life were made into "sorta-necropolitans", while those too far gone were shunted to an unused plane to get them away from people (these are what you summon with the summon undead spells). Of course, some undead managed to escape the purges, and are still making trouble in the outlands.

So everyone else is looking to do a pixie? I think I could work up a Pixie Dread Necromancer // Binder, to fit in. Could be a lot of fun, and I don't mind the restrictions at all (I just won't focus on undead creation smile )! Thoughts? I know some people mentioned this combination in the bg thread, but they aren't here as far as I can tell. Here's the rough start: Des Fronge

I don't think Kantolin wanted to play pixie, but i supposed if you guys like the pixie theme enough he could be persuaded.... His cocnept was tank, and that's kinda hard when no one has even normal reach though.
if you gusy really want to do this, i may just brew up some sort of 2.5 ft tile system to fix the tactical comabt. It's just a thought, as i;m not sure hwo well that would work.
Both of yoru builds are okay james. I'm goingto wait on Kantolin about teh whole pixie thing though...

Well, something I'd suggest if he wants to tank and we take the pixie thing up- Pixies get Polymorph as an SLA 1/day. Now, I know the polymorph subschool is banned, so that might affect that ability. So maybe you could replace it with the Dragonfire Adept's 'Humanoid Shape' invocation, as a 1/day SLA. Duration is 24 hours, and it'd let him turn into any creature with the Humanoid Type (using the 'Change Shape' rules from the Monster Manual)
That'd save a lot of hassle with the keeping track of cheesy forms, and let him 'be a pixie' without actually being two feet tall and having no reach.
