"I was just checking." Asami said with a smile on her face and watched as he looked away from her. Her eyes glanced in the same direction to see what he was looking at. A rock? She squinted to see it a little better then shrugged her shoulders, nothing too interesting about a rock.
"Good that nothing is wrong." She said simply as her tail swayed behind her at an odd rhythm. With a yawn, she laid down next to her friend and watched a bug crawl around. Asami resisted the urge to chase after it. She could chase around a bug whenever she pleased, but she didn't see Takumi as often as the bugs. After making herself comfortable, Asami laid her head on her front paws and twisted her ears towards Takumi to catch whatever he might say.

"Asami" He started but the other bit of words got caught in his throat. Why... Why did it? Now she'll hear her name and nothing else. " You look... Good" He finally said with a nod... That was a harmless thing right? He didn't know why it was so hard to say he cared about her. Though, perhaps she already knew that. He gave another smile, real one this time. Even if her head was turned away from him. He looked funny when he had a grin upon his face.

When she heard her name called, Asami turned to Takumi then tilted her head. She looked over herself then at him and smiled. "So do you." Was that a smile? An original Takumi smile? Asami let her smile grow when she saw his smile and let her tail flick in his direction. She cared for him as well, just didn't show it exactly how others did. Was that bad? Her shoulders shrugged and the thoughts faded to let her simply enjoy her time with Takumi.

He felt good, perhaps that was the most he could say to her. It was like saying I love you, just with different words. Perhaps she'd get what he meant later. So he didn't have to directly say the words. He was embarrassed to say them. To admit it openly like most did. He couldn't. It was like the words didn't exist in his world. But his father was Thona... So it kinda made sense on why he couldn't really say the words. Even if he didn't want to say it was because of his father.

Silence. The awful thing Asami hated almost as much as sitting in one place for far too long. Her head remained on her front paws as she watched the blades of grass sway in the slight breeze. Some liked to just sit in silence and clear their thoughts, but Asami hated sitting and silence. Her tail flicked towards Takumi again if nothing else, to just capture his attention for a second. "Takumi, what do you do for fun around here... now that you are older?" It was a lame question, but at least it broke the silence.

He rolled his eyes at the question and couldn't help but let out a laugh. "Fun? Fun? I don't think that words in my vocabulary, Asami." He told her shaking his head. "Avoiding the paws of my father, mostly." He said thinking about what he did. He avoided his father the most to stay away from his claws. He didn't know about anyone else, but you know... getting clawed hurt really bad. And He wasn't going to stick around to let Thona attack him. Not like the cubs did. And His brother. Wherever he was. Good thing he hadn't come back yet.
Takumi eyed Asami. "No, I don't really like to do childish things anymore" Unless they involved her. He put a paw on her head and covered her eyes playfully. The only creature he couldn't ever hurt was her. At least not on purpose. "Unless your around of course." He added just in case she might get upset on his little comment.

How could it not be in his vocabulary? They used to have so much fun when they were cubs. She missed those days, but she couldn't get them back no matter how hard she tried. At least she had Takumi by her side, right? Avoiding his father's paws? That didn't sound like too much fun. She sighed softly as she looked up at Takumi with the small smile on her face that grew whenever his face came into her vision. It seemed he could always make her happy, even just thinking about him made her happy.
When he put a paw over her eyes, she lifted her own paw and tried to remove his from over her face. Asami laughed a little then leaned against him. "Glad to know that you at least have a playful side with me," she said as she reached up a paw of her own and playfully, and very gently, slapped at him. He may be bigger than her, but she could take him, or at least she thought she could.

"Well, can't really help it. You keep an old man young." Of course he wasn't old, but he sometimes felt it when in the pride alone with no one else around him. He had that feeling that he was always in pain, yet it was all in his head. He smiled at her and shook his head. He couldn't help but laugh. They were the same age and had become friends almost instantly.
He flicked his tail and hit her. Not on accident, but he made it seem like it was. "Oh whoops, didn't mean to do that." He said with a guilty grin. He figured if he could loosen himself up, he'd be able to say the words he was longing to say to her for a while.

Asami nipped him playfully and shook her head. "You aren't old. If you are old, then I'm old." She knew they weren't old, in fact, they were young. Her ears flicked towards him as she continued to lean against him. He was comfortable, like a big pillow.
When she felt his tail hit her, she sent a playful stare towards him. She slapped him playfully with her tail and smirked at him. "Oh, did I hit you? I'm sorry." An innocent look was now spread across her face. At least now he was being playful like old times, which was making her want to play rather than lay around.

" I feel old" He told her with another laugh. He couldn't help it. He really did feel kinda old. But no matter. Without realizing it, he bent over and licked her on her cheek. He wasn't sure why he did that, it just happened. He was blushing, but his fur hid most of it. He was sure she could probably sense him blushing. Females had that way about them.
He laughed as she hit him with her tail and threw a paw gently towards her face as if to push her away a little. Trying to act like he didn't just lick her at all. No, he wouldn't do that, that was just his mind that was playing tricks on him. Right? Only her reaction would really tell him if he did it or not.

Asami blinked and glanced toward her cheek. Did she have something on it? Without thinking about it, she leaned towards him and gently licked his cheek. Maybe he was a little more than just a best friend to her, but she wondered if he felt the same way. Then she felt his paw press against her face and push her slightly. "Hey!" The leopardess said before lifting her own paw and pushing against his face.
At least he was loosening up a little bit now. Her tail flicked at a rapid pace as she thought about the lick for a moment, then pushed it to the back of her mind. Maybe they were more than just best friends, they just hadn't verbally admitted it yet.

He felt warm as she licked him back. Almost a complete feeling, though he didn't want to admit that was the feeling. He was emo after all. Or a sense of it any leopard could get. As she pushed on his face with her paw, he started to gently gnaw on it. Playful like. The only one he could ever act like a child with, so he might as well start doing it. He pushed at her with his back legs as well, claws still hidden with in his large paws. "Thow meh wath you goth" He said with her paw in his mouth still making it sound funny as it left his mouth.

She felt herself being pushed slightly away from Takumi as he pushed her with his back paws. Asami giggled a little when he tried to speak, but the words ended up being muffled slightly by her paw being in his mouth. Gently, she tried to push against him with whatever paw she could that wouldn't cause her to fall down. Her tail swung over and smacked against him a few times as she tried to very gently kick at him with the paw that she was pushing against him with earlier. She was glad that he was finally loosening up a bit around her and they could just be themselves for the most part.

He chuckled. She was silly and different, which was probably what made him like her so much. He could feel his chest pounding as he sat there with her, fooling around and acting like cubs. "Your strange, you know that" he said with a shrug and almost as if it was a bad thing. But he had an odd smirk upon his face.

Asami watched Takumi for a moment then pushed one of her paws towards his face. "I'd rather be strange than like everyone else," she said simply with a giggle. Her dark green eyes picked up on the smirk that was on Takumi's face. "You are a bit strange yourself."
