L'thor smiled and gave a quick nod of his head. "That's fine, I don't want to distract you; feel free to tell me to clear off if you'd prefer silence." Goodness knew he could find something to do if he needed to. "Oh, so are you going to watch the hatching?" he asked after a moment, watching Dorinelic work at his sketch with interest. "Betting is for it to be almost any day now." He hadn't been so excited for a hatching in ages, probably because he had something of a personal stake in this; he wanted Veyes and Ren to Impress. Chances were very slim that it would happen for both of them, but one at least might get lucky. He hoped so; they both deserved a dragon more than most in his opinion.

Mid-stroke, Dorinelic shrugged. "Didn't know one was going to happen. Besides, 's not my place. I'm a smith. Unless then need me to crack open the eggs, I have no real reason to be present." Flipping to a new page, he began to sketch out the handle. He didn't notice that the front of his hair was beginning to fade with the sweat and wind, showing his hair's natural lack of color. The white tuff was slowly making itself known. "This good?" He held up the sketch.

L'thor lent forward to inspect the sketch, nodding with satisfaction as he took in the details of it. "Yes, that looks wonderful! You shouldn't feel barred from coming to watch the hatching if you feel like it though; everyone in the Weyr packs in to watch if they can in general..."
Hum, that was odd; seemed Dorinelic had a bit of white in his hair. L'thor pulled his eyes away from it, deciding not to ask. For one it was rude, and for another he could probably pick up the cause of it on the grapevine eventually. Still, it was interesting; made the youth a bit more... a bit more distinctive. L'thor wondered vaguely how old the smith was; had to be at least close to twenty turns if he was a jourenyman. Still, old enough didn't equal interest. One to watch, but no sense coming on too strong right away.
"How long do you think it'll take you to make?" he asked after a moment. "It's not too urgent to get it done quickly; there's still a few sevendays until my friend's nameday."

"..." Still wrapped up in the sketch, Dorinelic rolled his shoulders back, the noise of joints popping drawing him out of the trance. "...I'm glad you like it. Most times I end up spending half a day before my commissioner knows what they like....and as to watching the hatching..." he rubbed his chin. "I don't quite know the procedure, or even what really happens you know? Most of us who grow up in the Holds never really leave until we become journeymen. Even then, all we know is bits of information." Shrugging, he set the sketchpad down in the dust. "...oh." Blinking he grabbed a small towel and pulled out an ink well from his pack. Dabbing the edges of the towel with ink, he brought it up to the white specks, returning them to the darkened black from before. "Sorry about that. Anyway, it will take 2 days at most. One day for the base and proper designs, then one day for touch up. Is there any place you want it delivered?" Smiling, he set the wet towel on a less the dust covered rock. "So long as its near by, I tend to deliver things myself. Make sure I have it right you know?"

L'thor nodded his head to that; "That makes sense... If you come out here regularly, I could come and meet you, or I could meet you in the dining hall. Describing the way to my weyr is a bit complex." He didn't think he'd actually be able to do it. He just knew where it was and went there, never really thought about all the twists and turns these days.
"If you do feel like coming to the hatching," L'thor added with a grin, getting to his feet with Dusk still snuggled in his arms, "just follow the crowd when the dragons start humming, and you'll get there. It's quite an experience, I can tell you!" Nothing like it in the world. No hatching would be as incredible as Raith's had been, but all of them were really rather special.
