I think if there's a rule about not ranting over other people, it would be okay.
If it was a thread for ranting about stress in school or homework or a relationship, sure.
But if it was about a specific person, that's never a good thing.

CleoSombra Blood Assassin 32 Launch the polaris, The end doesnt scare us!
That's the first thing I thought when I read the topic.
When will this cease? The warheads will all rust in peace! The fights only come when one person antagonizes another person spewing out their feelings. If a person sat in the 'official' rant thread and waited for people to post, then called them out . . . well . . . they'd just be a bully and THEN those fights would start. Launch the polaris, The end doesnt scare us!
Yes but a comment about a rant can start an argument. and For sure there would be comments in that thread. I think it may just cause more arguments to spew out. Especially since Arguments seem to be easy to start in this guild. >>

There would have to be something there to prevent things from escalating out of controll.

As of late I have nothing really to rant about, ut it seems like a good idea. Though I think the main rule should be that there will be no commenting on any rants to avoid any arguing. Then those who do argue, we just know they want to pick a fight.

When will this cease? The warheads will all rust in peace! In a thread where people are unburdening their stresses and whatever is on their mind, why on earth would anyone say anything to make them feel worse? Perhaps people shouldn't comment if they aren't going to be helpful or positive. When someone's dog dies, their therapist doesn't say "Well, at least you have another dog and two cats." No, they say and encourage positive forms of thinking, like "I know it's difficult, but you know she lived a good life. You gave her the best possible life she could have." They don't say "Oh, get over it," they say "You'll never forget him. But eventually, I promise you, the pain will go away."

Divine_Malevolence There would have to be something there to prevent things from escalating out of controll. The there's already a rule for no name dropping. That thread would have to be the one to strongly inforce it if it concerns someone from the guild. But to stop someone from ranting about one thing in particular is a bit counterintuitive.

If the rant thread specifies that it isn't a hate thread or people should respect other's rants and not judge them over it then I think the thread would be fine. I know I have a lot of stuff concerning I have to rant or rather whine about myself... I'd like to get it off my chest.

I think if someone really wants to rant, take it to their journal. Gaia offers one.
Rants don't belong in public areas. They're bad news.

Half of gettin' stress off is talkin' about it. .... Or so I've found whenever I'm stressed. It'd probably be better to have some commentary, but not have it be negative.

Doesn't really help if what someone is looking for is someone to listen to their rant. How often do people read their friends' journals? Last I checked you had to subscribe to a certain journal to know that a new post has been made.

You can also comment on peoples journal posts...
Edit: You can also ask people to go read a specific post and give a link to it.
Or, PM someone if you wanna talk about something.

If you can see them. And you're constantly looking at their journal.

True, but there will have to be some way to enforce that. 'Cause there's bound to be someone who will break it.

Divine_Malevolence If you can see them. And you're constantly looking at their journal. I edited it. If someone wants you to read their journal, they can post a link. OR, they can keep a link in their sig, and the date when they last posted. A friend of mine does that.
