I'm a huge fan of:

  1. The Kushiel Legacy by Jacqueline Carey
  2. The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind
  3. The Obsidian Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory
  4. The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop

Of course, I also enjoyed other series like Twilight, Harry Potter and Eragon, but the ones up top are my favorites. 3nodding

*Gasp* I am delighted that there are loads of Eragon fans around here (fourth-book-must-come-out-now crying ). The Inheritance Cycle is my absolute favourite series ever smile

I just finished the Harry Potter series a few days ago actually. A certain part in the Deathly Hallows very nearly made me cry. But I will not mention it, because I am sure a lot of people might not have read it yet. But those books are very good.
I wouldn't call The Series Of Unfortunate Events fantasy, but they are all awesome. The writing style is really unique.
Hmm... I just got Inkheart in the post today actually. I've only read the first chapter though. The blurb has me interested.
And, Hypno, most films of books are worse. Believe me, I was not happy with the Spiderwick film. I've never seen the Eragon film though. I probably wouldn't like it. Books being better than films is my policy xd

you've got a point there they leave out soooo much information in movies xd

Ah yes, they do. And they change things. Like in Spiderwick the climax was in an entirely different place stare . I was not amused. And how dare they try and squeeze loads of books in a single film stressed

I wish I could read Eragon, I hear it's much better than the movie. I saw the movie and I didn't like it much. neutral

BTW, the only fantasy book I remember reading is this one:

"La Mansión del Pájaro Serpiente" which translates to "The mansion of the bird-like snake/serpent".
The author is Virgilio Rodriguez Macal btw...

It's mostly a compilation of stories that are quite fantastic and they take place in the forests of Guatemala (my country). If you know how to read in Spanish, I suggest you find a copy. 3nodding
No kidding. The movie was crap (except Murtaugh -or however you spell that- who was sexy...but I don't think you care about that XD).
That is the whole reason why I didn't read the book for a long time, it was WAAAAAY better than the movie.

Oh and I found an AMAZING series, it's a trilogy called "The Night Angel Trilogy" with Way of the Shadows (#1), Shadows Edge (#2), and beyond the Shadows (#3). Really good books. Explicit language (sometimes) but very good. Oh and don't read the backs of the second and third ones.... It gives away some of the major parts in the story.

The House of Night series is my favorite hands down and Tempted needs to hurry up and be sold in stores already! D<
[By P.C. and Kristin Cast]
I'm in the middle of The Magician which is the sequel to The Alchemyst by Michael Scott. I really recommend this one, it is excellent, and I know that if you are a lover of fantasy, you would ADORE this series. I know I do.
smile
I'm not sure if Alice in Wonderland (both books) counts, but I've enjoyed those books as well.
As for Twilight/Harry Potter/Eragon, I had very little patience for.
This is NOT supposed to be an insult to anyone, and I know for a FACT that they are great books. But for me, it's either action immediately or none at all.
Give it, at the time I tried to read any of these, I was strongly against reading (and had a poorer vocabulary, leading to confusion). But I need excitement the second I read it or something intriguing enough for me to continue. That's just how I function.
I do want to read the Night World Series, The Hunger Games, and the City of Bones Series, but as of right now, I'm trying to read 3 books at once. Haha.

I'm reading the second book in the Mortal instruments trilogy right now. It's decent. Nothing to rant and rave about, though.

If Mystic Wondering is talking about what I believe she is, I'll add my own name to the list of us few who enjoy Chris D'Lacey and his Fire Within series. The first book, for any who might be interested, is more directly aimed towards children, but do not let that set you back at all. D'Lacey's writing is charming throughout the Fire Within series, and every time I return to his books I'm never disappointed.

This is a recommendation to all.

Oh gee, thank you for the correction. sweatdrop
Me and my friend kept calling it that and we asked each other, 'Isn't it called something else?' Hah. Yeah...nothing to rant or rave about? I can deal with that if it can keep me hooked. The only reason I read all of Evermore was because I wanted Damen to explain some things. stressed
If they've got 'something' to 'hide', I'll read it.
