I originally joined band because, as impure a reason as this is, I had a crush on a boy who was in band and I wanted to be around him more. Who would've known that I would've gone from being in love with a boy to being in love with band? <3

I joined for the love of music, now I hang around because I'm one of the instructors for low woodwind instruments.

I love playing in the band because a band nerd is cooler than any jock any day.

I joined band because I love music. I stayed for six years because of the magic in performance, and the beauty of making audiable art.

Band has always been my life. Its all I've ever known. I love the people, the music, the fun. Everything about band is just what I'm looking for in life. Plus people in band just have a certain way of looking at the world. I like that it allows us to make better friendships.

I'm in band for the music man. lol I've always loved playing my trombone from the minute I played my first note in 7th grade. I love the music, the people, the fun... all of it, but mostly the music. I actually intend to go into university for music... music ED not performance though. I want to be a music teacher. biggrin

I joined because I love the music. I made the mistake of taking a year off of band, and I cried every time I heard the band playing. And considering my school, you can hear it everywhere. So yeah, I joined because of the music and to just play. biggrin

I joined originally because my mom (who was a music ed major) made it seem amazing, and from the first out of tune chord we played in 4th grade, I've loved it ever since. Playing has become apart of me. I don't know if I want to strive to be a performance major in college, or an education major. On one hand for performance, I love playing, and could easily see myself practicing 4 hours a day (I'm working up to that now lol) and going to rehearsals like crazy, and being poor lol. But with music ed, I'd love to do that too, because I love teaching, and I want to spread my love of music to others (preferably conducting high school)

I play because of tradition. Most of my family has been in band at least once in their lifetime.

Pretty much all of the reasons. One, I though band was freaking awesome and I still do, and I wanted to be apart of the close family that our band is, and I will also look forward to it in high school, and I love playing my bassoon, and it's one basket full of fun, let me tell ya.
