"N-no! I.....I like.....your company. It's not so lonely around here." he said as he looked down into the water. He still used to opening himself up, but he was getting better with Xylia.

She smiled and relaxed a bit it was a relief knowing she wasn't being a pest to him. She slipped closer to sit beside him her fur brushing lightly against his as she soaked in a bit of his warmth.
"Good...I like yours too..."

Cornelius allowed another soft smile on his face, letting her sit close and his tail wrapped around her a little on the ground. He almost forgot he was supposed to be getting them food.

It was nice to enjoy the moment with him, his fur felt thick and warm and she found herself leaning into him slightly. She gazed out over the water and licked her lips.
"We should see about some dinner huh?" She looked up at him her eyes soft and hopeful, how badly she wanted to tell him how much he meant to her. But she was so afraid, he was used to solitude, would he push her away? Or mock her for her feelings? No... he was kind, gentle, he wouldn't be cruel...but he would send her away...alone. Her stomach clenched in nervousness.

Cornelius sighed to himself and nodded, not wanting to leave her, but he needed to get them food, "Stay here, I won't be very long." he said and then he slipped into the water.

She curled up on the shore to wait for him her mind swimming with thoughts, should she reveal her feelings or not? The fear of rejection was quite high, she wanted to stay and soak in the pleasure of his company.
In her heart she knew the longer she waited the harder it would be to have him push her away.

Cornelius wasn't gone all that long, but when he did come back, he had a large fish clenched in his jaws, quite dead and small rivulets of blood flowing down from where his fangs had sank into the scales. He swam up to the shore, pulling his prize out of the water.

Xylia moved to stand and grinned as she moved over to him. "Wow thats one big dinner...."
She looked over the fish impressed and back at Cornelius before siting down to let him eat.

He put the fish down before, feeling his chest swell with pride at the sight of her so impressed with what he got for her. He nudged the fish to her first, "I'll eat whatever you don't." he said.

"Thank You..." She smiled and gave his cheek a nuzzle before moving to n** away a chunk of the fish for herself.
"Ohh this is good..." She pulled a strip of the moist fish off the bone and lightly nudged it against his lips. "Try?"

Cornelius felt himself purr when she nuzzled his cheek, smiling a little again. When she nudged the fish to him, he nodded and took a bite of the fish, "Mmm, it is quite good. Nothing like fresh fish." he commented.

"It tastes better when it shared with someone you-who...someone special...." She blushed and looked down at the fish stripping the flesh from the bone and scales.
Hearing Cornelius soft purr made her heart warm, she felt like curling up and letting him keep her safe from the world. Yet she knew better, only a fetching female would catch his eye...maybe one the demonic ladies in this territory someone who knew him better.

Xylia smiled and slipped a bit closer to him "It's strange...I'm used to being alone...but I feel better with you."
She moved the fish closer to him and moved to lay down and rest her head on her paws. "You finish it...I'm full...that was wonderful."

He took the fish and finished it off, taking the remains and burying them away from the den. Once that was done, he made his way back and laid down beside her again, tail patting the ground and laying his head on his paws.
