i'm kindasorta a vegetarian. i don't eat any beef, chicken, etc. i will eat seafood occasionally because i know people who have been hospitalized due to lack of protein and i don't want to be hospitalized.
i became a vegetarian mainly to test my willpower. yeah, i guess i sort of felt bad for the cows and chickens, but if i truly did then i wouldn't eat any seafood at all. before, i lived off of chicken and steak, so i wanted to see if i could stop eating them. i've been a vegetarian for five months; i plan to remain one for a year and then make a decision about whether to continue or not.
random other tidbits: i don't like peta. i would rather eat meat than die. i've heard people going "OMG, my dad wants me to eat MEAT again. i'd rather DIE than eat meat." i reallllllllly miss poppy seed chicken. more than any of the filet mignons that i used to adore.
and just for the record, i don't like the guilds' new format.

My mom's doesn't eat much meat, and when she does it's usually chicken and my dad can't have eggs or some wheat products, so we eat a lot of vegetarian and vegan meals here just so it's easier to prepaire meals.

beauty_of_masquerade i tried to be vegetarian, only problem that my dad always yell at me when im not eating enough meat or i just can't restist meat. however most of my family said ill become a vegetarian one day. My dad used to be like that as well, when I first told him I was going vegetarian, he had a heart attack and made me eat meat. But in the last month or so, since I picked the vegetarian thing back up, he hasn't really been noticing.

Nobody really made an issue of it when I decided to be a vegetarian. I think they were all just trying to humor me and didn't think I'd actually stick with it. I've been veg for over half of my life. (:
But yeah, nobody eat meat.

Tanks!Tanks!Tanks! beauty_of_masquerade i tried to be vegetarian, only problem that my dad always yell at me when im not eating enough meat or i just can't restist meat. however most of my family said ill become a vegetarian one day. My dad used to be like that as well, when I first told him I was going vegetarian, he had a heart attack and made me eat meat. But in the last month or so, since I picked the vegetarian thing back up, he hasn't really been noticing. at first my dad said that if i wanted to be a vegetarian, he wasn't gonna let me eat dinner. and since i never ate breakfast, it would be just one meal a day. eventually he eased up. i still have to eat seafood sometimes because my parents are worried about my protein intake.
what is this with dads and meat?

My dad is the biggest carnivore i know! When i finally told him i went veg he completely flipped.
Anyway, i think it might be the whole masculine show that some dads are trying to put on with the whole 'i'm macho-so-i-eat-meat' business.

I've been vegetarian since I was about eight, I'm thirteen now, so that's five years. I tried to go veggie when I was six, but I was too little so it didn't work out very well. My cousin, who is about 26, has been veggie since she was fourteen, and she was part of the reason I turned veggie, she's someone I really looked up to. I never really liked meat, either, Chicken McNuggets and stuff like that had always grossed me out. My mom used to make me eat meat, just so I'd have enough protein. But she supported me fully when I decided to go veggie. I was poultra-tarian or whatever you choose to call it for a while, because I dropped meat a little at the time, just to make the switch as smooth as possible. I do eat fish occasionally, but not a lot. When I was 'poultra-tarian' I didn't consider myself vegetarian, though. People who consider themselves vegetarian but still eat chicken a lot need to learn something from real vegetarians; it's just not fair for them to be called vegetarians, in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I didn't go vegetarian just because of my cousin or a dislike for meat, I don't believe in the killing of animals for meat either. I'm not vegan, and I admit to owning a few leather things, but most of them are gifts or hand-me-downs, like the combat boots my cousin gave me. The people that try to force vegetarianism on others really annoy me, though. Everybody has their own beliefs, and you can't always change that. If I tell people what I think, and they agree and decide to go veggie, then great, good for them AND me. But if they don't agree, then it's no big deal. I once had a group of kids at my school come up to me, shoving flyers in my face and telling me to go vegetarian. I pushed them out of the way and went on, while the friend I had been walking with explained that I had been vegetarian for five years. (I don't mean to sound like a conceited b***h by not talking to them myself, that day had started out kind of bad and I didn't feel like talking to many people.) Another annoying thing is when you tell people you're veggie, and they go "oh, I want to be veggie, but I never could, I just love meat too much!" Well, then obviously, you don't want to be veggie if you like meat. No offense to anyone who is like that, it's just something I find irritating. Well this post is getting pretty long, so I guess I'll just end it here.... sweatdrop

Why is it nessesary to divide it into sub catorgries I mean you are or your not!!! People who say I won't eat read meat but I'll eat chicken are hypocritcal just because one kind of animal is treated a certain way doesn't mean that other aren't!!! The point of vegetarianismis to be against the treatment of animals for food and therefore refusing to eat it in order to make a stand!!!! YOU CAN'T PICK & CHOOSE WHICH ANIMALS DESERVE LIFE & WHICH DESERVE TO DIE!!!!!!!

What's the difference between the life of a cat and the life of a cow? If you're going to say some living creatures are better than others, you might as well join the Klan.

I think that if you are going to eat any kind of meat (in meat, I'm including fish and chicken) you aren't a vegetarian. I think vegetarian means that you don't eat meat. I personally am Vegan. I'm for animals rights, and though I do agree with some things that PETA stands for, I also disagree with a lot of things they do at the same time. PETA had a bit part in me becoming Veg, but not a major part.
I don't see how people can't see that Chicken is meat, or that a chicken is also a living creature. If you aren't going to eat meat, don't eat any meat.

If you eat meat doesnt that pretty much defeat the point of being vegetarian? In my opinion, if you choose to be vegetarian it means you do not eat ANY meat. 3nodding

I'm a vegetarian, I think if you eat any type of meat at all you're not a vegetarian! They could be someone who doesn't eat red meat but they still wouldn't be veg, just someone who doesn't eat red meat.
