Yeah, when we did Phantom, we did okay. It wasn't perfect, but a High school band never is...

I absolutely love Phantom of the Opera.

My school's string ensemble plays 'All I ask of you'. It just makes me melt every time...

My junior year of high school we rehearsed both Phantom of the Opera and Star Wars, and then voted on which one we wanted to do for the concert.

Star Wars won. sad
I would have rather played PotO, as the clarinets actually had cool parts for it. Star Wars was all trills and runs and no melody.

The arrangement we played was amazing though. Johan de Meij.

Tomorrow is our concert and one of the songs the symphonic band (I'm in it!) is playing is "Phantom Of The Opera" which has the songs:
-Think Of Me
-Angel Of Music
-The Phantom Of The Opera
-All I Ask Of You
-The Point Of No Return
-The Music Of The Night
My part (I'm alto sax 2) is amazing. I love it so much. We're gonna be having someone scream and STROB LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so geeked.

Aughhh! I share your happiness right now! I joined a symphony thing to help out with the orchestra. We're playing "Selections from Phantom of the Opera," which is my FAVORITE musical of all time. It's amazing, which I'm sure you already know. We're playing Jupiter (!!!!!) which I have wanted to play for 3 years now. Unfortunately, it's a variation and the person that arranged it failed and cut out all of the horn solos. I don't see why they couldn't just buy the original...
We're also playing "Also Sprach Whatsitsname" which is a variation of "Also Sprach Zarathustra".
I play horn, so I was even more excited because these are some pretty horn heavy pieces. Plus, I'm the only horn in it because none of the others wanted to sign up, so extra solos for me! ^-^
So, overall Ah'm super excited

Phantom of the Opera generally has a high regard (or used to, at least) in our band. It was the band's field show in 2005, the peak for the size of the band, and one of the most fun years I've heard about. There are more stories of greatness from that year than of any of the more recent years, even after the 2009 class graduated.

The Magic of Andrew Lloyd Weber is a terrible arrangement though, and that's what we played at the awards concert last year. Disgusting arrangements (though I'm not too much a fan of some of Weber's music; I do adore Phantom though).

I enjoyed Godzilla Eats Las Vegas last year (by Eric Whitacre). That was fun, even though Godzilla's theme wasn't really in it. xP

I wasn't in orchestra last year, but I loved what they played for their spring concert. The 2001: A Space Odyssey theme (because I can't remember/pronounce/spell the true name), Mars, Wicked, and Phantom. THAT was awesome. :]

I should suggest we play an arrangement of Jupiter for my senior concerts next year... >3

Our lower Concert Band did phantom three years ago I believe. It was awesome, and our choir is doing it this year!!! Its by far the best musical, with Wicked closely following, and for any brass players, 42nd Street is spectacular! Anyway, PHANTOM FTW.

Oh yeah and our Wind Ensemble, we are doing Godzilla Eats Las Vegas. Its pretty epic, but we can't do Phantom, sadly, due to it not being a level 5/6 sad

I didn't even see this.....but Godzilla Eats Las Vegas is awesome. The dog bark one or our flutes does makes us all cry, and we have three notes right after he cuts off, and we can never play it lol.....

This is seriously really creepy to me. I'm playing an arrangement of Jupiter, an arangement of the 2001 Space Odyssey them (it's called Also Sprach Whatshisname, but the actual one is Also Sprach Zarathustra), and a Phantom arrangement with our orchestra. .___."

In My middle school band... I think it was intermediate (7th) we played a really simple version. I got First Clarinet, and that was hard (For a 7th grader.) alot of sharps, side key's. One part when: B, C, C#, D, D#, E. And I and the C, C# and D# where all using side key's in the same area... and they where all fast 8th notes. Damn... my pinkie got a work out.

We experimented with playing a PotO medly last year, but it seems as if the band wasn't focused enough to do so. We're trying it again this year. It always makes me want to sing the song "Phantom of the Opera" like Marko (sic?) does it in Nightwish's cover of the song... And I'm a chick.

Our band hasn't played it for all I know, but one of our flutes I believe did it for solo and ensomble and she sounded amazing I can't remember what she got on it though.
