"It's probably nothing." Turning to her, he offered a light nod. "Still, would you like to get something to eat? Find a nice stream and rest? We can continue once the air cools." They should probably take it easy if the hunch he had was correct. Still, how did one tell? Her scent should change, but he was uncertain how long that might take.

"Alright, that sounds nice," the mare replied with a light smile. She lowered her neck to the ground and began nibbling on some of the grass that was around. Wasn't the most filling food, but it would do. "Are you hungry too?" she asked, lifting her head a little to look up at him. She wasn't sure if he had eaten yet today or not.

Brajan glanced at her, then lifted his head to the wind, paying careful attention to the area around them. At the question, he uttered a soft, puzzled sound. "Hmm? Ah, no thank you. I ate by the river before you woke." That and they were dangerously prone, particularly if both of them indulged at the same time.

"Oh, alright then," she replied with a light shrug as she returned to grazing. Natsuhi wasn't really particularly worried about being ambush. She always kept her ears on the alert and glanced around occasionally while she ate. Not to mention that her glowing eyes and back seemed to do a pretty good job at keeping predators at bay. Perhaps they thought her a ghost too. Heh, that poor mare. She was so startled, she thought to herself, remembering the expression on her face when she saw her in the darkness. I think I took a few years off of her life then.

After a few more minutes of grazing, Natsuhi walked back over to Brajan's side. "You're awfully patient," she said with a soft smile, nuzzling him gently. It was odd, the navy mare wasn't generally one to show much emotion. She still felt a bit off somehow, but she dismissed it for now. "You sure you don't want anything more to eat? I can watch while you do." She hadn't missed the fact that he was keeping guard, and she appreciated it.

Brajan remained alert, scanning the grasses for a sign of threat. The one good thing about the planes was a distinct lack of cover for predators. It unfortunately left them horribly exposed. Little to be done. And both of them had survived this long alone. A soft noise called his attention back to the grazing mare. Cocking his head, an ear flopped in confusion. She's snickering? He watched her graze thoughtfully. Natsuhi was beautiful. And so incredibly unique. He'd never seen another like her.

As her head rose, he glanced off sharply, nonchalant. He attempted to act surprised as she nuzzled him, eyes turning back to her. "Thank you, but I'll be fine for awhile." Unable to help himself, he tried to keep his voice carefully even as he said, "You were snickering."

"Hmm?" Natsuhi replied, not realizing that she had actually laughed aloud. "Ah, just thinking of a funny memory," she admitted, smiling sheepishly. "A mare once thought I was a ghost and about near had a heart-attack." She wondered vaguely how she and her partner were doing, along with the stone mare she had met in the cave. They were certainly friendly enough, so perhaps she might go visit them sometime. Definitely not now though. "I can't say I blame her though. It was dark at the time, so I must have appeared quite frightening."

"A ghost?" Brajan frowned, lifting his nose to n** at her ear idly, catching a stray blade. "I suppose I can see it on a dark night, perhaps, but you certainly seem to be a little more substantial." He smiled gently. That look in her eye. She did have friends, even if just now somewhat removed from them. "How did you come to be out here?"

Natsuhi's ear flicked when he nipped at it. It tickled a bit. "Same way that I arrive anywhere," she replied with a small smile. "I walked. Since I don't have a home I typically just go from place to place." Though, perhaps now at this stallion's side, things might change. Perhaps they could stick together. That would be rather nice. "What about yourself? Similar story, or some other reason for being here?"

"Essentially the same." He smiled gently. "Keep moving, perhaps some day find a place that can hold me for more than a day or two. It's been a long time since I've traveled with others of our kind. Herd life and complacency." Sighing softly, he glanced off. A part of him longed for it. But a larger part ached for the freedom that came as a rogue.

"Herd life?" Natsuhi pondered aloud. Certainly, she had heard of herds by this point, but she didn't really know all that much about them besides the fact that they were composed of a group of Kirin sticking together. "Do you know what herd life is like?" she asked curiously, hoping to gain more insight on the matter.

"I know of it." The words were stated a little too quickly, his tone heavy. He inclined his head slightly. "Herd life... it affords protection, at the least. A quiet life in most cases. They consider one another family, most times, but they likely would, considering how closely they live together and fight for each other when necessary."

"Oh, I see. Makes sense," she replied, nodding thoughtfully. The mare could see why some would prefer that. But even so, wouldn't that be rather bothersome to be around so many others so much? When could one find time to sit alone and think? Natsuhi shook herself out of these thoughts and smiled up at Brajan. "So, I believe you mentioned something of a stream earlier...?"

"Thirsty?" He turned, pausing to allow her a moment to follow. Ambling forward, he smiled lazily. Herd life... wasn't all it was cut out to be. But at the same time, it was so much more. The solitary life was so lonely sometimes. Not that he would ever admit. And he missed the spring, even if he was in the habit of offending other upstart young stallions. Hell, that part was fun, too. He grinned in spite of himself.

"Brajan, you are going to make an excellent father," Natsuhui remarked, chuckling to herself. Granted, the stallion hadn't been very 'pleased' when she had wandered off one night to visit an old acquaintance, but she didn't regret the trip. It had been very educational. "Why didn't you ever mention anything to me? It's not nice just to let me think that I was just growing fat." She was purely kidding on the last part of course, her smirk showing evidence of that. Even though the thought of being a mother still seemed a bit strange, she was rather looking forward to it. Chalk it up to maternal nature she supposed.

Sighing softly, Brajan simply nuzzled her neck. That worry still gnawed at him. He wouldn't even attempt to keep her in sight at all times. No, not a mare like Natsuhi. She would appreciate being told what to do about as much as he would. And for some reason, he wanted to see her content, especially through this.

Flushing at the compliment, he shook his head gently. "I didn't want to voice it when I wasn't sure." Moving around, he nuzzled her belly gently. Besides the fact that it would likely be impolite to an almost extreme degree.
