Well, it's not the weight that troubles Setsushi -- he can handle it no problem himself -- but rather his concern that there may not be any room left on the table for the pot. confused
Perhaps once the snapper has been moved off onto the individual plates, they can bring it out.
... Oh, and Setsushi just remembered something. A little sheepishly, he withdraws from the table, cleans his hands on a small towel, then opens the cabinet door next to his stash of tea.
"Does Madame drink alcohol...?" sweatdrop

Yaruka looked back to Setsushi curiously before she actually ducked outside, thinking about a possible way to rearrange the table so the soup could actually be placed. She would have to double-check. She was given another surprise when he posed the question, a small grin showing up on her face.
"I do, yes....though I haven't in quite some time." She said thoughtfully, watching him curiously as she saw him open another cabinet door. "I take it by the question, you've recently acquired some?"

Setsushi replies in the affirmative, taking out a large, clear-glass bottle with an elegant label. This is a very generous gift he has received, he indicates, but... "My tastes are so blunt and uneducated, I am not sure I will be able to appreciate the fine points of such an extravagant gift." sweatdrop
... Setsushi studies the label for a moment, then admits he doesn't even know what kind of alcohol this is. confused

Yaruka tilted her head curiously when she saw the bottle. A smile slowly crept across her face at the prospect of drinking alcohol. She hadn't had a drop in........well, years quite frankly. Setting the snapper down upon the table once more, she walked over to inspect the bottle from her perspective near Setsushi, but within personal space limits.
"Hmm......odd language, but I think I've seen traces of it before....or something similar, at least." She muttered as she looked through the bottle, noting the color of the liquid. "The color....mind if I open it? Maybe I can tell what it is by the smell, or taste-test it if I can't determine the bouquet."

Of course Setsushi does not mind, he says with a smile, and hands it to her. Setsushi, with his weak nose and untrained palate, has little hope of identifying a drink on his own, even if the bottle has pictures on it.
This extravagant gift is from a man named "Akram Mercier." Perhaps his name is a hint to the language on the bottle? Setsushi neglected to ask him himself. sweatdrop

Yaruka took the bottle with a smile, opening it carefully as she considered the name that he spoke of. She wasn't sure that she knew the person himself, but the language of the name seemed familiar, if unusual.
"Hmm, his first name seems almost Middle-Eastern..but then again, I can't be certain." She shrugged a bit as she held up the bottle to her nose and inhaled lightly, raising an eyebrow. "Smells like whiskey.........strong stuff, too."

"Whiskey?" ... Is that a distilled drink? Setsushi has done a very small amount of research into Gaian beverages, but there was so much complexity and variety he finds it very hard to keep the names straight.
"If it appeals to Madame, I would happily pass the gift on to you," he says; according to Master Akram, this is from his family's treasury, and while Setsushi was deeply touched by the gesture, it would be a shame for the substance to be wasted on Setsushi...
... and if it's strong, that's not a good sign, either.

Yaruka looked back to Setsushi as she thought of how to possibly describe it. Deciding she really didn't know how, she shrugged a bit and inspected the label....until she heard Setsushi say he would pass it down to her.
"I can't describe whiskey myself," She said as she turned to look at the Porcelain, "But it's a good shock to the system if you want to both slap yourself silly and send your mind into static fuzz, if I could put it in any kind of words.
"And I'm grateful that you would consider giving this to me, but it was a gift to you." She looked to the side, thinking for a moment. "Would you like to taste it? If perhaps you think you might like it, I'd be more than willing to share it with you." She smiled sweetly to him. It was true, she didn't feel right taking a gift given that came from someone's treasury.

Setsushi's eyebrows contort as he listens to Yaruka's description, faint projections of unease coming off him.
Well, uh... Setsushi is not sure he should induce a 'self-slapping silly' or a 'mental static fuzz' on an important occasion like this, with so much work still ahead of him. sweatdrop And though it is true alcohol does not make him ill like it does other Porcelain, he is... well, just not sure this is the time for experimentation.
He also understands her reservations, and, too, is not certain that it would be right of him to give it away. But at least, "Would you like to drink it this evening?" even if Setsushi will not join her? If not, he also has a bottle of plum wine he bought for himself. And a bottle of "Chocolate liquor," though he is not sure chocolate will go well with the native flavors of Toukoku. confused

Yaruka smiled and giggled a little bit, sensing his hesitation and unease. She couldn't blame him, especially with guests around....both the honorable and the young and impressionable.
"Well, I can't guarantee that you'll have that kind of reaction, but it's probably best to save it for later." She smiled at him as she re-capped the battle. "Mmm, chocolate liquor? That's a real treat. Perhaps we could save that for after the dinner for the adults that want to partake of a sweet finish to a lovely meal?"

Setsushi modestly encourages Yaruka not to judge the meal as lovely until she has tasted it -- though he seems to glow a bit with pleasure at the compliment.
"That will be our plan, then," he says, reaching for the bottle to replace it in the little cabinet. Madame will take tea with the others, then? He picked out a blend which does not normally interfere with sleep. He also has juice for the children, if she prefers that.

If either the Porcelain and his guest were to look out the front door of the udon-ya, one of them might spot Ryoua at the door, arms laden with paper packages stacked high enough to hide the top of his red head. The packages are quite thick, after all, but there are still a decent number of them. He fidgets the doorknob with his elbow, but it's likely too much of a feat for him in his current state.
Ahaha. Hello... ? the young Porcelain projects feebly.

Yaruka smiled at Setsushi, tutting him a bit for being far too modest. She still agreed that the plan for the chocolate liquor as an adult after-dinner specialty was a good one.
"I would like tea, yes. Anything would be nice, thank you. I'm not too picky." She smiled sweetly, then suddenly felt a wavering feeling of needing assistance at the door. She rushed over and opened it to see a young Porcelain laiden with a few parcels.
"Oh gracious, here! Let me help you with those..." She carefully took about half of his load without much effort and looked over to him with a smile. "Goodness, it's a wonder how you managed to get all of these here without a single incident." She held open the door for the young man to enter, certainly hoping he was alright.

Yaruka will find that the parcels she has relieved him of are quite light, actually. And that their contents are a little... crunchy?
Ryoua sends feelings of sincere gratitude to the woman and bows deeply, his arms still wrapped around the remaining paper bags. He would like to thank this kind Madam and--Ah! Ryoua has met her once before, he realises as he straightens. Hasn't he? She arrived not long after this one and his family found themselves in Gaia. His manner is all sweet politeness.
Is she well? biggrin
He spots Setsushi behind her and sends a warm greeting. Look, Setsushi! Ryoua has been helpful! He brandishes the packages proudly.

"Master Ryoua," Setsushi greets the young man, his words far more formal than the chummy, slightly paternal feelings he sends towards his junior. He is very pleased that work did not keep Ryoua from attending dinner after all.
But what on earth is he doing, filling up Setsushi's tiny little house with so many things! Really, he jokes, coming forward to help Ryoua and Yaruka with the packages, at this rate Tenkyuu and her family are going to bury him in generosity.
He hopes that at least Ryoua is hungry, to help Setsushi deal with all this overflowing food? gonk
