They're not supposed to but I was told that in this situation, the action is justified.

And maybe they want users to focus on one issue at a time? Or maybe it's just less confusing for the users that a replying to the thread. They could just be trying to simplify things?

I think they want users to focus on one issue at a time... but only because that'll make it harder for people to realize just how many problems there are on Gaia.

The fact is, "catch-all" threads were just fine until one that brought a lot of Gaia's problems to light became popular. Then they created this new rule to Chatterbox that thread even though the thread was created well before that rule was created AND even though they wouldn't officially post that rule until weeks after they started enforcing it. It's kinda hard to look at the situation and think they didn't create that rule specifically to sweep NK's thread under the rug, the better to pretend that the issues raised in it don't exist.

Plus, I'll bet if you made a "catch-all" thread titled "What I love about Gaia" and only allowed positive feedback, your thread would stay in SF for a long, long time...

omg, they actually updated their rules and guidelines? tch, took them forever to do it. And this was.. how many months after NK's thread got swept under the chatterbox rug?

I think it was just 2, but still, that's 2 months, not a matter of weeks. Once it goes into months, then it gets kind of ludicrous.

I dunno... I never agree with this kind of moderating. Especially this shady crap that was pulled on several people in the SF. *shrug*

Well if it's justified then ok, but I hope they don't make a habit of it. sweatdrop That would be bad.

Anyone with half a brain can see that there are problems with Gaia. I think the action of staff trying to hide it is futile. Eventually Gaia'll piss a newbie off. And it'll be more logical a response than "It's too hard to earn gold here! Prices are too high!"

I can understand working on things one at a time, since that's normally how they announce changes, but how does a thread that focuses on many things prevent them from working on one thing at a time. What? Ever member of staff suffers fom severe ADD or something?

You also have to admit, even though N.K wasn't trying to lead or anything, she did bring about a large amount of "followers" so to say. If her thread stayed and managed to stay within SF's old rules, dare I say mutiny of some sort?

That and the fact that every flamer of hers got shot down with logic. *laughs* though I was still so inflamed at the time, I jumped on those she didn't really spent time addressing and they never came back. Though I guess that was because I was using argument rhetoric I learned in class...*winces*

Sorry if that stole some time of NK, though I highly doubt it did.

I missed the dev replies though. Those were fun to deal with...

Oh yeah. Screaming of revolution gets you put down fast. Democracy? What democracy? Nope...well, you're allowed to talk but only nice things. Screams of the Alien and Sedition Acts even back during the days of Jefferson. How pathetic...

I got declined from being a moderator because I didn't report enough.

So really, I met their standards, but they ignored that and went for the number one thing mods deal with. I felt like I got shot in the heart with a arrow from 2 cm away...

It is not cool that a guild regular like myself should have to go to forums just to report misplaced threads so I can be a mod, when they are in high demand. Usually if it is one reason why an employee would not hire you, yet they really need workers, they usually give you the job anyways and help you work out your kinks. But no, they see one fault, and they shove you to the side.

Well, It doesn't help that moderators are not paid. Which, given that they're not paid, it's surprising just how much power they can wield. I mean, would you give an intern the power to turn customers away and ban them from a certain room when each person that they do so to are potential buyers? Granted, they don't ban, but they can harass, which there have been a couple situations that I've heard of. Sadly, I do not have reference links.

Still, I know I wouldn't. Yet they do. It's mind-boggling, really. Gaia is a business, but they don't act like a business. I wouldn't hire someone based on how much they tattle, or kiss up to the mid-level management.

I wish Gaia would act like a business more. It seems like mods and admins don't take the customer service part seriously at all. Yes, they have gotten scammed accounts fixed in a more timely matter but they only do accounts that have sent in their report within a month of the event. So, if you leave for seven months and then come back to find your account hacked, you're just out of luck there.

It's not even just some of the mods that don't know what good customer service is. There is an admin that gave out personal information about why I was removed from a guild to that guild and to other people. If I ever gave out personal information about a customer to anyone outside the company, I would be written up or fired depending on what I said.

@Kikirin: Using education on mai Gaias? Blasphemy! xd

I don't really like looking at Dev replies, especially Fleep's, Sagger whatever-his-name-is, and one of the Devs with the letters C and P in their name. Everytime I see a dev post about something important I get a headache. When's the last time they made sense?

That rule in SF has essentially shut people up with organized feedback. You can't spam multiple topics and you can't have a topic concerned about everything you want to talk about. So you have to essentially sit and wait working with staff on one thing at a time. Half the purpose of site feedback has been shot to hell in my opinion. *thinks they did it on purpose to shut users up*

Oh, no doubt. I can really think of no other reason for such a retarded rule to exist. You notice no other forums are adopting this rule, correct?

Well, it's not really possible to put this rule in other forums...maybe in the ED, and th Guide and assistance forums but it wouldn't make much sense to do it there. This rule pretty much affects only SF, even if it was put into place in other forums. It's not our fault there's so much wrong with your site Gaia. Quit trying to hide it.

I am not doing it to be paid though XD

And one omni mod got promoted to admin, due to being around since 2003 and having some qualification that Gaia needed...

Being a mod can give you an advantage in the world of jobs...

I didn't say you were doing it to be paid. But that's what's been happening regardless.

And I don't think you could really call being a mod to be an "advantage". After all, that mod was here since 2003. And for all we know, that qualification could have been living in California.
