The Hero, the Villain, and the Damse: Part Onel

After having numerous lessons pounded into him about being polite he grudgingly accepted his mothers terms before he was allowed back into the ocean cove. Swimming around he felt miserable and cranky as he seemed to be agitated with the idea that that other shark he had met might be in there again. So far he hadn't spotted the annnoying one, but that didn't mean he wasn't around. Grumbling he stuck to following lazily behind schools of fish though he had no...rael desire to catch and eat any of them. His heart just wasn't in it today.

Rangi gave a pleased sort of sound as he was dropped off into the water and swam a couple enthusiastic circles around in front of his Father before he surfaced and waited for him to lower Atl and the covered bucket that they had gotten at the store along with her. He gave a happy sound before he motioned to her, "Come on! Treasure awaits!" He chirped before he dove under without another word. With a bucket on their side it meant that they would be able to get that much more ocean treasure then the last time they were here.

Atl watched him go before giving a little sighing sound as she dove under the surface and followed along after her brother as he swam head of her to find the next section of ocean floor that they were going to dig around for treasure in.

Left alone on the beach their father settled down on the warm sand, eyes closed, and was listening quietly to the sounds all around him to help him to place where everything around him was located. He gave a bit of a smile as he heard the two children dive under and he waited to see what they brought back up with them. He was pretty curious since they always seemed to find interesting treasures that were hidden under the water.

Haaka was still swimming around in much annoyance of the school of fish he was trailing not really thinking of anything in particular before he noticed that others had joined him in the cove. He looked over hackles already raised but soon discovered that the pair were not the shark he had met before. Pleased by this outcome he went to swim closer to the surface to watch from above to see what the pair were up to. Strange looking bunch...one looked like it had wings and he wasn't sure how the other one was able to swim at all. Really bright colors too... he wanted to chew on them both but figured it was best to figure out what they were doing first.

Rangi seemed for the moment oblivious as he reached an area that was slightly rocky and decided that this would be where they set up today, "Alright, we will start here." He told his sister, swimming his way down to the ocean's floor and looked it over before he started to root around between the rocks, in the sand, and even went as far as to moving some of the rocks that he was able to get to move.

Atl watched as the sand started to get kicked up a bit and waited patiently while he dug for treasure, swinging the bucket from side to side in a slow manner in the water. She didn't so much mind being the one that carried the bucket but at the same time she would rather be the one digging. It was no fun at times being the girl... Rangi said that she wasn't allowed to do the hard work because of that she gave a little sigh before the decoration on her back twitched. She blinked and then turned to look from side to side, was it just like her or were they being watched?

Haaka circled above them as the pair stopped and the boy began...digging? What was he up to? That was really odd behavior...he itched to swoop down upon the pair...but instead he focused on the brightly colored one a moment before he decided it was time to sweep down and grab that one. The other one had too much sand flying around for him to want to bother swimming through it. So after a couple more passes over head he then swam down straight down for the one with the bucket.

Arms outstretched he gave a toothy grin as he basically went to scoop up the girl in his arms and carry her off.

Atl gave a squealing sound as she got caught hold of by someone and was swept off. Her hands flailed to keep hold of the bucket but they seemed to be moving to fast and it escaped from her grasped and floated down to land on the ground near to where her brother was digging around. She turned her head to look up at him before her eyes got huge, "U-Uh... oh..." Shark, another shark... she set to squirming as she didn't want to get eaten by this new shark, last thing she wanted was to become a meal for someone. She wanted to find treasure not be a snack!

Rangi blinked a couple of times when the bucket came to land near to him, "Atl! Your supposed to hold on to the bucket and... guard... Atl?" He looked up and around, squinting his eyes to see through the sand and saw something heading off with his sister. His eyes got a bit wide and he pushed off the ground to attempt to pursue them.

Haaka gave a crowing sound of glee. If anything he LOVED swimming fast, and it was made even better by the sheer fact he had someone captured. He continued to swim quickly through the cove trying to lose the other who was on his tail. He darted into a outcrop of coral and hid there his arms still encircling the other as he waited to see if the other would find him. He loved this game...so much more fun than with that other stupid shark.

Atl quivered a little as the pair of them were suddenly hiding among the bright coral. She was for a moment distracted by it, finding it to be kind of pretty... she and her brother hadn't gotten to see this stuff yet since they hadn't gotten that far in their digging... but it was somewhat ruined given she'd been stolen away by the shark. She lifted her gaze to look up at him, "A-Are... are you g-gonna eat me?" She whispered, sounding a little bit worried. She didn't want to become a snack for a hungry shark and she couldn't really think of another reason for why one would steal her like this. She could hear her brother calling out for her and she opened her mouth so that she could call out to him.

He blinked as the question was posed at him staring at her a moment before looking up when he heard the girls brother he assumed calling out for her. He clamped his hand over her mouth to prevent her from being able to call for help.

"Shhhh!" He whispered sharply as he looked around as if expecting the other to discover them instantly. He then backed up a bit until he noticed some small crevices he could sneak them into.

"I won't eat you if your quiet." He threatened though he held little to that as he ...didn't think she'd taste good anyway.

She blinked a couple times before nodding rapidly, she didn't want to get eaten she figured it would be a good idea if she remained quiet... if she were quiet though how was she supposed to get her brother's attention to where they were? She wiggled a bit in his arms, trying to escape from the shark's hold. It took a little bit before she tired herself out and gave in, she wasn't strong enough to escaped and the shark was bigger then her... this was such a pain! Her eyes got wide as they started to back up and she lifted her hands up to try to push against the hand that had hold of her mouth. If nothing else at least she didn't didn't need to worry about suffocating since it wasn't how she breathed under water anyway.

Rangi gave a grouchy sound as he looked from side to side, anger and panic rising as he couldn't spot her. Where... where was she? Where was she? "Atl! Come on! This isn't funny!" He called out, he had to find her and beat up whoever dared to steal his sister. It wasn't as though it were fair, his sister was weak and small and needed him!

Haaka was giggling, a lot....trying to smother his laughter as he dragged her into a small cave that barely fit him, he half turned as he felt the girl wriggling his arms and then deposited her it the small cave behind him. This was SO much more fun than his first time in the cove. He placed a hand warningly to his lips to warn her to remain quiet as he looked up and then around outside of the cave to see if the other had discovered their location yet. Not spotting the other he chuckled a bit more before he looked over his shoulder and turned to face the girl giving her a toothy smile.

"I'm Haaka." He announced quietly to the girl.

She wiggled a bit more then tried to flee when he let go of her though realized a bit late that there was no way out of the little cave that she'd been released into. She pressed as far back away from as she could before his hushed her, having a hand go to his lips as he did so. She remained quiet even if she wanted to call out for Rangi... she wasn't sure if he would be able to hear her though since she was inside this cave, "Wha... huh?" She looked up at the other in a slightly confused manner as he announced his name. He was giving out his name...? This was a strange sort of slug-napping she thought to herself, "I-I'm Atl... Atl St Claire... Um... nice to meet you..." She kept to the polite protical taught to her by her father even if it wasn't exactly true. This guy was scary so it wasn't exactly the best meeting ever.

Haaka chuckeled and then moved in closer to the other observing her body shape and everything about her. "Your strange looking..." He announced rather bluntly as he tilted his head at her looking her over in a much too interested manner.

"What were you doing anyway out there?" he continued in as he was getting...much too close. Personal bubbles? What were those now?

The girl gave a twitch, "Ah... s-strange...?" She murmured, looking herself over, looking a bit worried over this. She'd never been called strange before, then again she'd only met a small amount of people. She looked up at the shark again, "T-That isn't very nice to say." She finally told him.

"Huh? Doing? Oh... we are t-treasure hunting." She explained, pressing back a little more tightly to the rocky wall of the small cave that they were inside of when he got closer.

He reached out a hand to poke at her antenna of sorts before he nodded his head as if confirming with himself that yes she was indeed strange looking.

"Yeah well..you are. But I like your colors.." he continued as he then poked at her ears and then was far too close for comfort as he then noticed her strange...feathery thing on his back side.

"Hey! What's this?" he inquired as he poked that too and then with a chuckle poked it again.

Atl relaxed a little bit when she was told that he seemed to like her colors, that was a good sign at least. Better then just being strange she told herself before she watched the manner in which he was poking at the thing on her back, "Its my decoration." She said, not really sure exactly what it was called since nobody had ever told her. It was a special thing that only she had since the other slug that she met didn't even have one. He had spines instead, "I think its like that." She pointed at the fin that Haaka had on his back.

He raised an eyebrow as she compared his fin with her ..thing. He shook his head, "Nooooo way its the same." He protested as he poked at it again, "I like the decoration though.." he came to the conclusion before he decided to tackle her and wrapped both his arms around her before he poked his nose at her shoulder and nudging at her a couple of times before testing his teeth on her. Though he didn't bite hard...merely tasting her he soon discovered she...tasted awful. "Yuuuuck..." He spat as he wiped his mouth. "You taste baaad."

The girl gave a squealing sound of surprise as she found herself being chewed on all of a sudden, "A-Ah! N-No tasting me!" She said, lifting her hands to try to to defend herself when he seemed to pull back to announce that she was yucky and tasted bad. She starred for a moment, wondering if she should be insulted. It was a good thing that he didn't want to eat her but... at the same time he didn't have to react so strongly like that!

Rangi jerked his head to the side as he heard the sound of his sister's voice, unable to make out what was being said but was at least able to figure out where the pair were and he hurried in that direction as fast as his fins would take him.

He wiped his mouth again before he looked at her and gave a bit of a laugh. "Did I scare you?" he asked with a nod of his head, "bet I did, I am a pretty scary shark." he continued with a puff of his chest. "I mean I learn from Jaws. Have you seen Jaws? That is one BIG shark. Someday I am going to be just as big and eat people just like he did." He proudly announced to her.

Her eyes got huge as the future plans of this shark were laid out before her though it reminded her a bit of the bad guys in all the movies she watched with her brother, "You shouldn't say that... I mean... every time a villain says his plan out loud a hero shows up and he loses." She explained, nodding in a sage manner. She just thought Haaka might want to know since he sounded so determined about what he was going to do when he got older.

He gave a snort and then wrapped his arms around her in a possessive manner. "Well I ..." he looked at her a moment. "What...ARE you exactly?" he asked bluntly as he had no clue.

She blinked up at him then couldn't help but to give a smile, he wasn't nearly as scary now as he'd been moments ago when he'd first stolen her she thought to herself, "I am a 'fine-lined Tambja'... which is a fancy name for a sluggy." She told him, giving a giggle. The first name was one that she rarely used since it didn't really explain what she was as well as just saying she was a sluggy.

He gave her a blank look and then clutched her close in a dramatic fashion. "Well I have...uh...sluggy napped you. So I am a good bad guy. I won't let you go! Ever!" he said in a dramatic tone as he gave her another little taste and then made a face as if he had forgotten she had tasted bad.

"Just making sure...yeah you taste awful..."

She tilted her head to the side, "Never, huh? I... do need to go home at some point and Rangi is still looking for me." She reminded him, she wasn't sure what she thought about being sluggy-napped forever by Haaka, while it could prove to be kind of interesting she would miss her Daddy and brother. She wondered if since he was the villain and Rangi was trying to find her meant he was the hero. That could be interesting too... Her face wrinkled into a pout when he retasted her only to come up with the same conclusion about her taste. She couldn't help but to stick her tongue out at him, "Not my fault." She grumbled.

Rangi heard the voice again and passed by the cave entrance before doubling back and looked inside, eyes going huge, "Hey! Get your hands off my sister, Shark!" He yelled, puffing up his fins in hopes of looking bigger while he glared at his new adversary.

Haaka turned spotting the other had discovered them and he puffed up his chest and growled.

"Never! She is mine now!" he stated with a growl before he charged the other fish boy. He didn't really care this was just too much fun to play and be the bad guy and actually be the scary one.

Rangi's eyes got huge and he shook his head, "She is not yours, shark!" He said, "I want her back, not give her back or I will take her back!" He was doing his best to sound intimidating and strong but inside he was a little worried, this shark was a little scary and he didn't like that he was holding onto his sister in such a manner. It made him want to pummel him until he let go!

Atl looked between the pair and felt herself flushing a little, finding the role as 'damsel' as one that was kind of fun! She'd normally rather be the hero or the villain but for the moment being fought over was good too. She looked up at Haaka then over to Rangi, "C-Come on... lets not fight... why not team up and search for treasure together?" Wasn't it her job to try to get them to work together instead of fight? If the tv was to be believed it was.

Atl and the Shark

Haaka was giggling in exacting glee as he slowed down breathing hard from the excitement. He stared at Atl with a beaming face.

"I went so fast! did you see me? I was going to fast i lost that other fish, and he is soooo not going to find us now. Let's play! I want to show you what is in the caves okay? Its really cool trust me." he continued with an excited chatter as he released Atl and then took her hand and dragged her to the ocean floor. He pointed at the many small openings that were small caves.

"it's like a really fun guessing game. sometimes you get bad things though when you reach in... like a crab but that's the fun in the game. want me to go first? i am brave I can go first." he proclaimed as he tugged her towards the closest whole and then without hesitation reached into the cave with a thrust of his hand. He fished around trying to find something and then gave a yelp. Prickly. He then reached back in much more carefully and withdrew a sea urchin. "See what I mean? that hurts!" he snapped gnashing his teeth at the sea urchin though with all its prickly spines..he didn't exactly want to eat it. He tossed it behind them and then gestured for her to pick a hole.

Atl looked around as they made it to where they were going and she listened to the rules of the really strange rules of the game. They were to reach into a hole and try to see what was inside? She watched as he eagerly went first only to get himself pricked by the creature that was hiding out inside. Her eyes got wide as she looked over the weird thing that he withdrew only to toss it as it was a bad thing. Then suddenly it was her turn. She swallowed hard and approached one of them, looking it over, "Ahh... I will... will... pick this one..." She shouldn't be playing this, she should be going to find Rangi but... it seemed like a game of courage and she didn't want to look like a wimp by backing down before her first turn. She chewed on her lower lip as she reached her hand into the hold slowly and grabbed at the thing she felt moving inside... then gave a squealing sound, jerking back, and flailed as the angry little armored critter had grabbed her instead, "Ow, ow, ow!"

Haaka's eyebrows furrowed as he saw what she pulled out and it was hurting her. "bad!" he snapped at the thing that was hurting her before he pointed a finger at it and puffed himself up.

"you let go of her or I will eat you!" he snapped with a gnashing of his teeth, it was one thing to be hurt in this game but he could deal with it. This girl didn't seem to have any means to protect herself.

The slug lifted her hand up, holding it out to Haaka so that he could deal with the angry creature that she found. She wanted to flail around until it let go of her but instead she forced herself to stay still. The little critter seemed to ignore Haaka as it help fast to the one that it had caught fair and square after she'd put her hand in the hole it lived in. She lifted her hand up higher, "Y-You should eat it H-Haaka... its not listening to you."

He gave a jerk of his head nodding in agreement, "yeah stupid creature!" he agree'd as he took it by either side with his hands and then he bend his head down having it basically pinned in his hands besides the angry claw holding fast to Atl and opening his mouth wide bit down on the creature as hard as he could. There was a sickening crunching sound as he cracked through its shell easily. He had good jaws after all.

Atl gave a happy sound when she was freed of the angry crustacean when Haaka was able to bite down on it in a manner that was able to get through its armor, "Wow... Thank you." She said, lifting a hand to bend her fingers, making sure that they were alright despite the attack before she gave a sigh of relief. It hurt a little but didn't seem broken or anything that she could tell.

Crunching a bit on the crustacean he didn't mind the taste so much though it seemed like too much effort to each the whole thing. So he spat out what he didn't want and let the shell fall to the ground. Though there was some tasty flesh in the big part of the pincer and he was cracking it with his teeth to get at it....seemingly completely absorbed in his feeding frenzy to take note that Atl was thanking him. He ...did offer her a claw though as he continued to scarf down more of the little creature.

The slug girl reached out to take the claw that was held out to her and she held it in her hands as she watched the shark munch down on the rest of what there was to eat. She remained quiet, leaving him to enjoying his meal. At least what she found was useful even if it were mean she thought to herself, smiling as she did so.

Haaka gave a sigh of contentment, "Not bad...but so much work." He stated with a loll of his head as he looked to Atl who hadn't eaten her piece yet.

"what not hungry? I'm always hungry.." he stated with a shrug before he moved to help her with the claw. "or can you not get it open? let me help you." he stated as he went right ahead and lowered his head to use his teeth and crack the claw open.

She was suddenly finding herself happy that she tasted bad when Haaka said he was always hungry, "Huh? Oh, sure." She said though he was already working on opening the claw up for her. She looked down at it before lifting it up to eat the meat out of it and her antennae wiggled, "Ooo, that is good." She said, smiling brightly as she released the now empty shell.

Haaka nodded his head and placed his hands on his hips. "Yeah it does, but so much work. I'd rather just eat a tuna..or mackerel.." he state with a shrug. "what exactly is with your friend there? He looks strange too. But..all...feathery ..and stuff...he is weird."

"With my friend? Rangi?" She asked, looking off in the direction they'd come from, "Those are his fins, hes has such pretty fins I thing. The blue he has on them is a nice color." She said before looking Haaka over, "Your purple is pretty too though." She complimented him, she was a fan of all sort of colors and those that had them on their person.

He puffed out his chest more so at the compliment, "Yes well...I am a thresher shark." he stated with a nod of his head. "I like your colors too...you and your friend look so weird though. But its a cool sort of weird. I like it. well..I like you...your friend is annoying. Though fun to tease..." he stated was he went off again with his ramblings before he out of habit began to swim around her in lazy circles.

She gave a nod, well at least he liked them even if he thought they were weird looking and that it was fun to tease her brother. That was better then him disliking them decided before giving a happy sound, "Its nice to know that you like us, even if Rangi annoys you." She told Haaka with a happy smile. She was liking this shark far more now that he wasn't being all sorts of scary, in fact he seemed rather nice now and that made her quite happy.

Haaka only swam lazily about before he was finding himself growing bored again he then righted himself and pointed at another cave. "I am going to try that hole." He stated firmly as he swam to it and suck his arm in without hesitation. he felt something crash against his fingers and he withdrew his hand out hastily as a eel fled its confines.

"OOOOOOOOOOoooo neat!" he crowed as he swam with the eel keeping up with it and making gnashing sounds and growling sounds at it. The eel looked most unimpressed.

She watched Haaka as he swam over to pick a new hole and went about fishing through it again, it was kind of funny to her that he was still trying to find the creatures that were hiding out in the many holes that were hiding various surprises. Her eyes got huge when she saw what he found in the one he picked and gasped, "Oh! What is it?" She asked, swimming closer to get a better look. It was scary looking, kind of like an under water snake!

"I dunno, but it sure is u-g-l-y." He stated with a firm nod of his head. "I mean it could be at least colorful or something...its just an ugly gray.." he stated as he swam around it and ahead of it before going to swim beside Atl. He gave her a grin as he swam ahead again. The eel looked annoyed as it quickly went to another hole and entered the new cave. Haaka looked as if he was contemplating putting his hand back down there but was distracted as he noticed a sea star.

"HEY this thing is alive!" he stated with awe as he had always thought they were inanimate objects. But now he saw it was moving very slowly...

Atl watched as the annoyed creature went swimming off to hide itself once more. She gave a soft giggle, "It didn't seem to happy with you." She told him as she followed along as he went to the next creature that he wanted to poke at. Her eyes widened as she looked at the star shaped critter before she giggled, "Woah! How pretty!" She murmured, reaching out to poke at the creature as it moved slowly along on its way to... where ever it was that stars went.

"Pretty?" he inquired as he looked down at it...he guessed it was a nice color...and shape. He joined in the poking finding that the star was actually quite hard...he thought it would be squishy. "Its weird..." he stated with a nod. He was completely oblivious to anything else that was around them. ALl that mattered was Atl and their new ...creature to stare at.

She gave a nod, "Yes, pretty not weird. I like the shape of it. Its a star like the ones in the sky." She said, making a motion toward the surface of the water and the sky above that, the sky looked pretty when it was full of glittering stars if you asked her.

Haaka crossed his arms over his chest as he thought on it. "Naaah...that looks nothing like a star int he sky. It doesn't even twinkle...and it is so not the right shape or color." he came to the conclusion before he looked at her again. He looked away...and then back to her again...then moved closer to her...inching his way until he was right beside her...then he grabbed her and went to test his teeth against her shoulder once more time. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccckkk..... he grimaced...but he didn't let go...he only continued to nibble lightly as if hoping to discover a good flavor..

She gave a jump of surprise when she got nibbled on again, eyes going a bit wide before a sighing sound escaped from her lips. He was making odd faces again but at least he wasn't commenting on how icky she was so that was a good thing. She gave a bit of a smile and allowed for the shark to chew on her like she was some sort of rubber dog toy while her attention went back to the sea star.

"Ah ha! Found you!" A voice behind them called out, that of the 'hero' of the story, Rangi.
