She laughed as well. "You'll get stronger and better soon, little one. You still have a bit of growing to go," Laughingstar winked at him happily.
But she did blush at his compliment. "Well thank you," she said shyly. She could hear it in his voice, the fact that he smiled. "You're not too bad yourself, you know. One day you'll make a girl very happy."
She tilted her head to one side and contemplated the question. "Sometimes it's a bit difficult," she began slowly. "There was this one lion I met, who wasn't a very nice lion at all. I couldn't see him, but I could hear him, and that's about the only way I managed to escape. But everyone else I've met has pretty much been sweet and kind to me, wanting to help when they can." She gave him a rueful smile. "I know they mean well, wanting to help a blind dog, but I know how to take care of myself and it's sometimes frustrating. But I appreciate their offers all the same.
"But the key to making friends is a very simple one: be yourself. If they don't like you for who you are, then they don't deserve to have you as a friend. I know I am honored by your friendship, Strongear."

Strongear wondered how she knew he was younger then her, she couldn't see him, he knew looking at her that she was older them him by a bit, but if he hadn't been able to see her he probably wouldn't be able to tell anyone's age, another thing she was good at he noted.
At the mention of him making a girl very happy one day Strongear blushed and thought about his Twana, she was very special to him, he had very strong feeling for her even at this young age.
Strongear found himself feeling angered when she told him the mean lion. Strongear didn't know much about the lion species, he had only kind of met one.. though she hadn't been very nice either... maybe this was something to do with being a lion. "Well that lion couldn't have been very smart to be so mean to someone for no good reason, especially you. You are very nice, I don't understand why anyone would want to hurt you or be mean."
Strongear was overcome by emotions when laughing star had said she was honored by his friendship, it made him feel very special... "I uh well I think you are a great friend already." Strongear stuttered. He looked up and smiled at her again.

Actually, if you listened hard enough, you could guess at how old someone was. Especially for younger boys: their voices tended to be higher than older males, which helped her differentiate between the two. Girls were harder, since their voices didn't change much. At least, with the ones she had met.
Laughingstar nodded. She had learned a good lesson from the mean lion. "I know. Thank you, but some creatures out there just don't want to be nice to others. It's just the way they feel for some reason." She shrugged. It was something she couldn't help, and she'd rather the whole world be peaceful and kind, but it didn't work so well.
She giggled. "Thank you." She smiled at him. "Well, it was nice to meet you, but I better head back to my siblings. They should be waking up soon and they'll be wondering where I am." She nuzzled him fondly on the head in farewell and turned to trot away. "I'll see you later, no doubt."

"Bye" he called after her, he was glad he had met Laughingstar, she had made him think harder then anyone else ever had. He would make sure to find her again sometime when he felt the need for a thoughtful conversation. As she trotted away to her siblings, Strongear though perhaps he himself should go find some of his family, him and his siblings could get a game in before their mom would want them back in the den. He sauntered off in the opposite direction of Laughingstar.
